  • Decision time !!

For me its not been an easy choice between the ZMA and the GSR as both the bikes meet my requirements. If riding at 100 km/hr or more was a priority for me I would clearly have opted for the ZMA or some other 200cc+ bike. However as I mentioned at the outset my purpose is mostly to commute in the city and go for occasional relaxed tours with a pillion. My priorities are ergonomic comfort, refinement and reliability.

Although the ZMA is the more exciting option, I have not been very happy with the HH SVCs in Pune, in fact even their sales departments suck. I can say that as I have first hand experience from my HH CBZ days. Quite a few experienced ZMA owners also said that the plastic body parts on the ZMA are of substandard quality and parts in general are expensive to replace.

As for the GSR, I have test ridden it several times now and I have always come away satisfied with the comfort and refinement of the bike. As a bonus i will save almost Rs 15K on the cost of the bike and probably get about 20% better fuel economy by opting for the GSR. I have thus come to the conclusion that the GS150R is best suited to my needs.

Thanks for all your contributions to this thread.

        • Congrats ansum.

Just posting some information about GS from my experience, it can be ridden at the top gear even at the speeds of 30-35kmph easily without any engine knocking, low end torque helps minimal gear shifting for easy commuting in city traffics.. Also it returns an amazing mileage of 50-60kmpl..
The latest batches (2011) has improved braking and initial pickup (altered gear ratio) than the older ones. You wont feel fish tailing when hard braking.. And I too own the same batch bike.

When it comes to touring, refinement makes more sense here, w/o refinement you'll end up in vibrations at the handle bar which will make even the less than 100kms ride an unplesant one.. GS is a well refined bike and you wont feel vibrations even post 100kmph... And so the seating posture and great suspension helps to provide great comfort.. Its massive tank can hold upto 20litres of fuel (though on papers it's written only 15.5litres)..

It will touch 120kmph without any efforts ,anything above needs some effort from the rider & a very good road ,. 127kmph is the top speed from my bike's ODO..

I'm not a big tourer, but a commuter who ride for longer distances frequently/daily., I'd ridden a maximum of 700 kms on a single day in my GS.,

It's very comfortable for long rides, but with a limited maximum speed of 125kmph.

Do share some time in the GS150R forum if you've any queries related to it.
