  • totally confused !

first let me introduce myself , i just passed my MBBS and not yet got into a job yet, thought of taking a break for awhile
My problem is that i really donot know which bike to get, i have never really owned a gear bike ,used to ride a gearless 200cc hybrid bike scooty in hongkong.
Now when i want to get a bike i have no clue what to get
i donot intend to go many long drives with it ,I drive a laura l&k so long drives i would take that. mainly a bit of city and once in while hit the highway for a change.
    .
finances isnt a problem but what my problem is i have a small back problem, had a small disc slip ,so if i bent too much and drive in the too upright position back starts hurting,so need something that would be comfortable
i just shortlisted some bikes KTM Duke 200,Honda CBR 250, Kawasaki Ninja 250R [loved da looks and have da money so only problem is back and is the extra lakh more than the cbr really worth it

please give me your valuable suggestions !

    What Bike Query Approved

I would suggest that you stick to the Duke. The other 2 are majorly Highway mile munchers and since you won't be taking them where they belong too much, there is no point in spending extra even though money is not a problem.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Duke 200 will be perfect. Another option is Yamaha R15 2.0 (but 150cc).

          Hi,

I believe CBR 250R is the best in your case. Duke 200 is no doubt VFM product and does what it aims quite well. But, since you have more money for disposal, CBR that does all where DUKE fails, i.e. above 130 mark. You are going to enjoy the revs, the throttle, the response and in short the power band that this bike offers.

i dont about bikes but the siting position is also important when anyone having back problem...
I am having cbr250 + back issues too but i am quiet comfortable with the bikes siting position. But only problem is have to take bum brakes frequently say after every 120kms (seat is quiet tight ) .
When i bought the bike at first i use to take brake after every 50kms because of my back but now it is fine ..
At last please do consider other bikes too because i havent rode any other bikes.

Test Drive all three bikes & also ZMR along with them..then choose which one you found most comfortable..i would suggest you to go with either CBR or ZMR..they both have comfortable riding position though the best bike amomg all is mighty Ninja..

thanks for all the input, duke 200 would be good choice as that will fullfill my requirements ,but just that mighty green caught my eye, look of a real sports bike . i guess i would test drive all the three and see , the showroom for duke and ninja are only in one city in kerala. so have to drive down 220 kms up and down to do a service as i live in cochin.!!!
i was even thinking about the thunderbird ,but waiting period is 3 months....
lemme take a test drive and see whether ninja is really worth that extra 1.3 lk.. if not would go for duke or the thunderbirdie!!

Since you said you've disc slip & keen on forward leaning posture.

Pls don't make back to back post & use multiquotes instead, which is against the forum rules - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/coffee-l...tiquettes.html

In that case, I'd suggest, wait until you reach here, hit the showroom & do a TD; IMHO, for your back issue, forward leaning riding posture helps
