    Hello friends,

Need to buy abike with the following requirements:

    1. Budget - 1 Lakh.
    2. Engine Capacity - 150 ~ 200 CC.
    3. Place of stay & purchase of bike - Kolkata, West Bengal.
    4. Approx Daily usage - Negligible, shall be used in weekends.
    5. Purpose of buying - Week-end outings within city / outskirts (30~70 Kms one-way) & occasional tours (300 ~ 800 kms one-way).
    6. Usage pattern - Mostly with Pillion (WIFE ).
    7. Riders height & weight - 5'10" with 80 Kgs of mass !!
    8. Riding style - Not a racer, neither a competitor. I keep my own pace of 50~60 kmph in city & 80~100 kmph in highways for tours.
    9. Factors of choice - from high to low : riding comfort (both rider & pillion), power, look.
    10. Mileage expected - anything around 45~50 kmpl.
    11. Specific requirement - good ergonomics, better night visibility, good & strong brakes.

Thanks in advance for helping me out. Planning to buy around Oct'12

Pulsar 200ns is my recommendation, though fuel economy might be an issue.

200 ns or zmr should be your choice.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

Go preferably for the 200 NS.If you like faired bikes, the ZMR should serve you well too, she is nice torquey bike well performing in the city especially with pillion on board.
But ask me , I will prefer the 200 NS over the karizma..

I Would Suggest Avenger (220) But Average & cc will not meet your requirement...

Or Pulsar 200 NS or Apache RTR 180 ABS or FZ :-)

keeping in mind with the Kolkata traffic and all other requirements of yours....would suggest go for ZMR...it suits your requirement mostly...else simply go for R.E by stretching ur budget nd cc becoz the riding comfort is unparalleled.....the power is decent enough nd as u r heavy on the side the torque will give u a boost....mileage around ~40 for the city and highway ~45.....rest ur choice whatever your heart says..go for it..

Going by your requirements GS150R/Unicorn/P150 sounds like good choice. P200NS is damn good, is within your budget, but it wouldn't meet your expectations on mileage.

I will suggest you 2 bikes, the Pulsar 200NS and Apache RTR180ABS.

Simple comparison between both FOR YOU is:

                  P200NS -
Pro: Much more power compared to other.
                  Con: Mileage/Average.

                  RTR180ABS-
                  Pro: Most efficient braking.
                  Con: Vibrations
(I am happily living with it as same as other owners but count it if you love smooth engines like Hondas).

P.S. I don't actually know the exact 'practical' mileage of the 200NS, but I expect it to be lesser than 40. Let some owner clear the air.

Unicorn would be the best bet, easily within your budget, its a good bike for city as well as highways. Easy on the pocket, comfortable for pillion as well.

Awenger is not that bad in traffic !! Only issue is when you are trapped in bumper to bumper traffic!! Else Awenger is nice on tour abilities. People complained on pillion comfort so This bike is 50:50 in your criteria.
NS200 is perfect when 200cc is in your mind. But average is what you can get with your riding skill, there are people quoting average of 40+kmpl good for City + Highway rides un der limits of 120<kmph.
Bajaj Service back up and cheap spare parts!! It's a nice product for 1L.

                            @ All who recommended P200NS :

Need few feedback from you guys as I'm also inclined a little more towards the bike

                            1. Its a clear winner in power & look - but, is the ride quality good enough with a 60 Kg pillion ?
                            2. As far as my exp with Bajaj bikes goes, they give a headache (shoulder & back comes free !) after 1.5 years. I'm a little skeptical on the post-warranty period of ownership
                            3. Eurogrip tyres...... a point of concern...... disc brakes without ABS - during rainy season, skidding issues may come or may not ???

Ride quality is the first & foremost decision criterion for me as mostly I would be riding it for a 3~4 hours continuous stretch with pillion (no reliever ! ) for week-end tours.

@ all who made me think of Unicorn Dazzler / GS150R :

A long term perspective gives these two models an advantage - time tested, more economic, lesser cost of ownership et-all.

Honda sales & service team in Kolkata is very busy & act arrogant & ignorant of your feedback due to work pressure (my office is in the same building and I've seen people arguing...)

Suzuki sales & support in Kolkata - the less is spoken, the better - no dealer & SVC at all !!

My test ride exp with GS was good 2 yrs back when we were searching for a bike for my friend. Have not ridden Dazzler but tried Unicorn and both seemed quite alike in most of the aspects.

                            Really getting confused................

                            HELP HELP !!

60 Kg is nothing IMHO. Even old school bikes like Yamaha Rx100 had gross weight of 120 or something

What bike are you riding currently? Is your bike equipped with ABS?

I don't know how to understand ride quality as it is dependent on the rider; I've seen riders comfortable with R15, which I personally find slight discomfort. So I'm not qualified to answer that part.

That's the same case anywhere in this country, be it any manufacturer. Word gets around on non competent ASC for even motorcycles like Ducati & BMW, so keep that aside.

Same case even in South; very less dealers & ASC

Going by your needs, my suggestion would be is to knock of FE for the moment & you'll see ZMA/R OR P200NS will match your requirements perfectly. When you're using the bike only on weekends (I'm sure you're not going to do 800 Kms ONEWAY every weekend) for which these two bikes match perfectly.

Otherwise, opt for another old school motorcycle - One from Royal Enfield stable, but 350cc
