Yamaha FZ
Let me start of with mileage issues..apache gives 40-45 but FZ if well maintained gives exactly the same. As of about riding comfort...its FZ anyday my friend...its seats are designed such that it reduces the pressure on your back and is much better for your posture, mainly because FZ is more of a tourer/cruiser as compared to an RTR so like i said if you are looking for comfort it's without a question the FZ. About handling again the FZ comes out on top because of the wide back tire measuring at 140/60/17 and frankly TVS tires are something not even worth talking about. Looks can be subjective and as far as i personally am concerned it's again a thumbs up for the FZ. So if i was in your position i would go for the FZ16 without any further adoOriginally posted by Tijoe View PostHey guys,
I am confused between the above two bikes....though I had (n still have) an inclination towards "The Beast" (TVS). I took a test drive of the same and found it pretty much different as compared to the earlier version. The overall wt of the bike has been reduced, no vibrations at higher rpms, pretty smooth riding, comfortable seating, etc.
I never actually got a chance to test ride the LOTS however. But, as adviced by many of my friends, the spectacular stability of the bike is notable feature which puts it back in the race against the best.
M gonna buy either of these two on or before 31st Aug.So needed some advice as in which one should I go for, my primary concerns being-
1.) A decent mileage
2.) Riding comfort (have to travel 30 Kms, one side, to reach office)
3.) Easy handling
4.) n....finally...."Looks"
Kindly advice

Sorry guys for the late communication...
Thanks a tonne for your valuable suggestions....As many of you suggested to go in for a test ride, so did I....First went in for FZ n I must admit , that the bike has damn good stability and handling is top level
.
Regarding mileage, even the dealer agreed that it consumes hell lot of fuel.
The riding comfort and handling is simply awesome no doubt.....
The machine looks muscular, sturdy which every teenager would want
I was pretty impressed by the torque it had to offer.....
Then i went to TVS.....I was obsessed with the beast inspired pilot lamps.......Placed my hand on the throttle and jus revved it up for a few seconds.....felt like I was sitting on a racing machine.....waiting for the signal to turn green

The seating position (the stance) is not that good, but hey, would u mind when you are sitting on a racing machine???
Mileage like all "Apache tribals" claimed, even the showroom guy admitted that the fuel eco is around 45-50 kmpl.....
Handling as far as Im concerned is pretty cool.
N looks....do I need to say more?
So finally decided to keep the untamed Beast rather than kneeling before the Lord of the Streets

Thanks a lot once again......
And the pictures.....hmm....didnt get much quality time to spend with my Beast.....anyways, will keep you posted....Thanks again

N I completely agree with you in the TVS Tyres dept., but as far as Ive heard, FZ parts are cheap(as in very bad quality)... anyways I bought my beast from TVS stable to my stable

Hi Rinku here..
Definitely my choice for this comparison would be the TVS Apache rather than the Yamaha FZ. Because the FZ is not at all economical compared to the Apache.
Yes its true that the brand name yamaha would sound a bit more delightful, but certainly not FZ, mailnly because of the mileage difference..
The main reason why people choose FZ is its style and looks. But believe me the performance is not upto the expected mark.
Now coming to the Apache, I have no idea why TVS had to go down after introducing a perfect bike-the TVS Apache Rtr 180 ABS, down to a apache 160. Well to me the looks of the Apache 160 looks weird.
So in my opinion you would want to go for the Apache 180 ABS rather than the 160.
For a complete technical and specification comparison of the Apache 160 and the yamaha Fz, check out this:

There is nothing like bad bike or something its all depends on user !!! FZ being 150 cc cannot satisfy you if you are fan of 180+ cc motorcycle...
