Re: Best super reliable commuter bike for a newbie ?

Yes! Splendor would be a good option. My relative purchased a Splendor recently and has completed about 3k kms. The bike is absolutely fantastic and low on maintenance.

A splendor would look even more better if you could cut off the steel protruding thing right above the tail lamp and cover it in black rexin material.
    Good luck!

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.

Hey I guess the decision is almost made up. If you are going to the showrooms, do try the Honda Dream Yuga and Dream Neo too...

also, prefer to buy some bike from Hero or Honda...cuz they are more refined and reliable than Bajaj, IMO.

Splendor is a very nice and reliable option, it has proved itself from last so many years n people still prefer it! And do not cut the rear metal grab rails that you are suggested to do for cosmetic purposes. It will not look nice and also it will make it hard for the pillion to sit comfortably! But it's all about what you like, it's just a suggestion!

Another thing, as you will start learning Motorcycle, you can expect some minor falls. No matter how tempting it is, get a proper leg guard (crash guard) for your bike. Both in the front and rear if possible. You can simply remove the rear guard once you are comfortable. Also, always wear a proper helmet and maximum protective clothing you can. Do not drive in your Pyjamas or bermudas, always wear a denim jeans, at least till you get familiar with your ride.

I understand that you are skeptical about a new product, and I am not denying that fact too. The thing is, in case of Mahindra Rodeo, both the company and the product were new. In case of Honda Neo, only the product is new, Honda is already a trusted name....Honda knows what it's doing, it will not risk it's name.

I haven't heard a flop motorbike from Honda, I may be wrong though...

I am not telling you to completely trust the Honda Neo, I am just telling you that you can be more relaxed in this case. Don't deliberately skip it....it looks costlier than what it is... it is something different than the rest... but keep your eyes and ear open!

I believe other experts will put some light here too...

Anyways, if you ask me to put my money between Crux and Splendor, Splendor wins...!

My uncle had the first gen Crux, it wasn't as smooth as Splendor....

Re: Best super reliable commuter bike for a newbie ?

my vote goes to the Bajaj Discover 125. I have owned one for the last 8 years. Driven more than 25k Kms on it. Rides like a dream. Super fuel efficient. Low on maintenance and even after all these 8 years, the self start works great. I have seen new Hero bikes whose Self start fails within a few years. So I would suggest to go for the Bajaj Discover.

Dont get shocked,If you can wait for say one year or two....be happy, bajaj will again re launch discover 150 and discover5g again !!!!!! This is how bajaj works, this is what they have been doing with their discover series for long time now. ( Ok, do not consider my suggestion to wait one year seriously )

PS : Consistency does not exist in Bajaj's dictionary.

Finally, I have shortlisted the following bikes :
                  1) Splendor + - Kick Version is the top variant - 52k
                  2) Splendor Pro - 55k
                  3) Splendor NXG - 54k (Also has a trip meter)
                  4) Honda Dream Yuga - 59k

Please suggest which will be the best.

If you consider Yuga too, why don't you have a look at Passion X Pro?
It has the same engine of yuga, but better looks. Also, I believe the ride quality also should be better.
Did you check the price of X Pro?

Honda also offers a 5 years warranty at a nominal price. I paid 1200 for extended warranty for my around 2 lakh priced CBR250R.

If you get bike serviced from a guy outside of ASC you actually void that warranty so better be careful

Chill down dude. You are unnecessarily entangled in your own web. If you are serious about making a purchase, better work out a list of features that stand a priority as per your needs and choose the one bike which has most of them.

I really fail to figure out the kind of discussion you are leading on in this thread. Wake Up !!

This 5 years warranty and extended warranty all are gimmick. Actually this warranty policies will give peace of mind to ASCs instead of bike owners. Because they cleverly tied bike owners for secured five years at their crappy service centers.

Please don't decide bike on this 5 years warranty. Just test ride the bikes list you selected and choose as per your comfort and feel.

But after reading the above comments I think that I am at the wrong place, as ("If you are serious about making a purchase, better work out a list of features that stand a priority as per your needs and choose the one bike which has most of them") if one is so confident about which product meets all his requirements, why will he ask for help in this forum ?

Also, as everybody's needs are different, I thought that, I was searching a bike for MY PARTICULAR NEEDS as a confused newbie (and not LEADING A DISCUSSION FOR SOME NOBLE CAUSE).

Have you even worked out a list of features required by you till today after 4 pages of discussion on the thread ?? as now you have been through a number of bikes/showrooms/advises and all.

What negative do you see in the words written above ?? If you cannot figure out a list/priority for yourself how can you expect someone to choose something for you ?? and so I said "Where is the discussion leading to ??" Please stop expecting a spoon-feed kind of discussion, you have started this discussion and so you have to lead it
