  • Bajaj or honda or hero or tvs or suzuki?

Hey. This is my first post on this forum, so please excuse my mistakes and help me rectify them.

I am a fresher in a college in kolkata, which is about 15km from my place. i wanted to buy a bike/scooter for daily transport.

My daily ride would include both city and highway driving.

And this is going to be my first 2-wheeler. I have been driving 4-wheelers for past few years, but never a 2-wheeler.

Anyways, i m 5'7", weighing 100+kgs. So i want something which would suit my personality.

My budget would be not more than 80-81K.

    My basic requirements are:
    1. It should be comfortable.
    2. It should suit my personality.
    3. It should not under-perform under my weight.

If scooters would satisfy my requirements, then please suggest one. I have short-listed a few like activa, aviator, dio, swish, wego, rodeo rz.
And for the bikes, i have short-listed pulsar 180/150/135, apache 160, cb trigger, hunk, gs150r and stunner.
If I have missed something, do add.

Please advice keeping in mind that the lower the price, the better it is.

Why not consider a new FZ or Avenger by stretching your budget a little or a pre-owned for much lesser price?
Considering the height and weight 'Hunk' or 'P180' should work out. Basically you should be looking for a bike with excellent low end torque.

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.

Hunk or FZ.. P180 would be good but then personally i'd say it's too common on the roads and you being a student should have something that looks good along with a decent performance. I'd say test drive hunk and FZ.

Mate, you should test ride the options you have.. Since you are on the heavier side, it would not be recommended to go only by the advices of others..

Avenger would be ideal for your built. Consider it. Else go for gs150 eyes closed. It is well within your budge, but your height could be a concern. So test ride it. On 3rd no I would suggest fzs.

Also if you can bear with little vibrations, you can go for rtr 180. It has good power.

agree with skv, the Avenger will suit you well since it's comfortable, muscular and will gook cool for a college goer too. Else, you can look at the Yamaha SZ series (SZ-R/SZ-RR) - it has an excellent low end torque and is very comfortable too. My brother (who is on the wrong side of 100kgs) owns one, and I'd say, the SZ-R handles him really well.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

wouldnt the low power of sz cause trouble? i was considering avenger, but then i read about its braking issue, so i have dropped it. i am a bit more bent over towards apache 160 and fazer. one more thing that i forgot to add was that it should give a decent mileage of 40-45+.

"Low" power of SZ? It's the same engine as the FZ, bro!

It is the same engine but in a different state of tune. It has better low end rideabilty and the top end is not as powerful as the Fz. This has been done for the sake of mileage where it has an upperhand compared to the Fz.

                    Why 2wheels over 4.....
Its because 'Whatever it is, it's better in the wind!'

You are right, and then, the difference is barely 1bhp! From my personal experience, the SZ is well-spirited, even for a 110-kg person, thanks to the torque coming in at barely 4500RPM..

Re: Bajaj or honda or hero or tvs or suzuki?

FZ is well known for its low mileage, otherwise one of the best in 150cc category.
IMHO, nothing favors SZ except its low price. Though the mileage is better than FZ not enough for a bike producing mere 12.1 PS.
SZ sales are falling these days, so they've come up with a face lift now.

                        My suggestions - Trigger, XTreme/Hunk, Unicorn, GS150R.

Activa and all - again mileage would be a concern. You cannot expect anything more than 45kmpl during daily commute, and there is lack of power as well.
Honda has come up with HET tech with improved mileage, but not sure how much that helps in the mileage.

is their mileage comparable to 125 ccs like pulsar or stunner? or maybe 150ccs? and for a person like me, would they get under-powered?
