Re: A comfortable and powerful bike.

Since you are planning to get it in May 2014, you will have loads of options by then.. you will have the Hero's new 250cc, the New ZMR and the ZMA-R (you will have ample of time to see how the bike performs and how it looks as you are not in any hurry)

You will have the option of P375, new CBR 250/300 will be available..

Don't go for a RE unless you are a hard core fan who loves the thump and the vibrations of the bike.. if you are not a hard core fan.. then you might regret (My Opinion) due to the possible frequent visits to the Service Center..

keep in mind that TVS-BMW JV has already begun and we will never know what is expected in the 2014 Auto Expo..

the Duke 200 is also a good option but the kinda comfy ride is doubtful..

by the way.. how much does the TB500 cost?? if it costs somewhere around 180000, then i would suggest extend the budget by 22000 and get yourself the duke 390..

that machine is the best out there in India and you are getting a handful of horses at a very low cost... you can change the cushion according to your needs on the seat for comfort.. just give it a thought.. you will be the king of highways with the D390

Thank you all for responding. ZMR or TB500 it is so far. Will wait for reviews of new ZMR.

Re: A comfortable and powerful bike.

I was about to start a thread here and came across this one. Exactly matches my needs. I'm 6'1 too. I have a GS150R right now and I love the riding comfort. Now I need more power on the highways. In the tune of about 25bhp +. The Pillion comfort is equally important for me else I'd have jumped onto the D390 for its power. By the way I see it, there are no bikes that meet the need right now. Don't know how long long we will need to wait.
With great Power(and Torque) comes great responsibility.

I've thought of the CBR250 time and again but the seating posture does not give me confidence somehow. I've never tried it though. I'll give it a try now and see.

                      Thanks Anuj.

I have tried cbr250 and for me it was far from the comfort I am looking for. Basically I want something where there is no body weight on wrists while riding.

Then you got karizma.. Super comfort.. Good mileage..

actually the best would have been cbr250.. You will always feel weight on wrists if you ride sports bike for the first time.. With time, you won't even feel it..

                          Ride safe and have fun.

Thanks everyone for pouring inputs. I am almost a month away from desired delivery date of bike. I have narrowed down to ZMR , ZMA-R & Unicorn. would have gone for TB 500 but don't want to spend my days in service center. Also wonder how people sing of legacy of RE while it keeps manufacturing bikes with inconsistent quality. please correct me if i am wrong.

Among the 3 bikes mentioned above, i want to get one with most sedate riding position and best pillion comfort. can you all owners please advise?

Then close your eyes and go for zmr. Much better mileage (45-50kmpl) with good comfort and perfect riding posture.
IIRC, the monk had sat on the new model karizma and said that the.posture was the same. So have many other people. The pillion comfort may have been reduced though as compared to the older zmr. But am pretty sure it still might be better than the bikes available.in this segment. Nevertheless, take a td.

unicorn and zma's have almost same upright riding positions since city is preferred go for Karizma R,less fairing so less weight more flickable and nimble than ZMR.The zma-R comes with the usual carb which makes life easy as even the next door mech can work on it so less SVC visits .BUT STILL TAKE A T.D TO ZERO IN...
