Was the duke built for touring? No. But saying that you can't tour on it wouldn't be fair, every bike is what you make of it. Among the the choices you are looking at, the cbr 250 is the only machine 'built' for touring.

The 200ns is among the more reliable bikes from the bajaj stable. Again though built for street usage, it has still been tried and tested as a tourer too a successful one at that. I don't know squat about the CBR 150, hence shall not comment on it.

You can get used to any and every bike based on your adjustability but if you are looking for a dedicated tourer, since you have opted out of the karizmas, CBR is the way to go

Not sure why your cousin said that.. i dont seem to have issues with finding spare parts for my zmr as well havent faced such big issues in nearly 4yrs ownership (touchwood)..

Both the Dukes and CBR are good for touring.. in fact i know people who tour on smaller bikes..

Like people say.. its what we make use of the bike..

My friend tours with me and a friend on his RTR180..

the seats if rtr are as hard and small as the duke..

Karizma is a very decent bike and good for touring, you can also wait a little time to see the all new karizma R in flesh and if you like it, you can go for that, cos that looks like a better tourer than the present models. . . Speaking of CBR, it sure is a good tourer but again why go for a used when you can buy something new, that's my opinion, best get a new karizma and ride rather than getting a used CBR which you might know what all the problems exist. . . That's it said, the choice is your's now. . .

In short if you have more money, go with the CBR250R or else best stick with the Karizma, preferrably 2013 model as it's like an alternative for tourers who have budget constraints. . .

Seriously people have given you wrong information, let me sum this up,
1. Karizma - Awesome bike and seriously I haven't seen my friend facing much of issues even with the engine nor finding anything for the bike, the bike was real good and comfortable. . .
2. Duke 200 - Best you go for something else or at least CBR and not this, cos you might feel it one day that this bike irritates you as it's not good riding it in high speeds cos it's a naked bike and with no proper windshield, you'll face more windblasts, you should make a windshield for yourself after you buy it, also the seat is small and it isn't good for touring IMO, so best as I said, see if you can buy a new KArizma R or else go with used CBR250R, that's your choice but seriously saying there isn't any problem in finding spares for the karizma as much as I have seen. . .

To be clear, guys, I am not dissing on Karizma or any bike.
Just sharing what ever information I have, looked up on other forums as well and read about parts non-availability.
Will check on Karizma as well, dont like it's look though (subjective).

Any advice on CBR 150, is that good for Touring ? I can get it for about 1.4L.

Karizma R should be the best motorcycle that suits your requirements. It's comfortable, can easily cruise at 100-120, gets the work done. Only cons are the weak headlights, MRF Zapper Y rear tyres which inspires low confidence in corners. But since you're shifting to motorcycles these shouldn't bother you. Better bulb and a better tyre will make this bike tailor made for you. Good luck

I would recommend the CBR250 over 150.. spend another 20000 more and get a bigger engine..

No probs but let me clear it up, CBR150R seems more easy to handle and much more practical, let me just give it in point wise,
1. Good touring machine. . .
2. Looks almost same to 250R but is unique in it's own way. . .
3. Economical, deliveres more FE than 250R if he's looking for FE. . .
4. As I previously said why go for a used one when you can get an alternate as new, . .
5. If it's for city then it's NO cos people don't find it comfortable for riding in cities, but for touring seems good machine. . .
6. It's the best 150cc bike from a performance point of view IMO , . .
7. It'll cost him less. . .

I had rode once CBR150R and CBR250R back to back and I was damn impressed by the 150R over 250R, the handling was light, I took it up to good speeds and no such thing as sound change at high revvs, it was comfortable could change directions quick, at least quicker than 250R, so that's how I started loving it more and more . . . If am given a choice between used 250R and new 150R, I would definitely go with the 150R which is more for my taste , . . For the thread starter, taste first blood once, you'll know the feel . . .

PS: Am referring for 150R and not human's or someone else's blood . . .

EDIT: No apposition from my side for a used 250R, it's just that I don't want the bike to starting drilling holes in his pocket, BTW if you get one maintained in a good condition, preferably one's rode by big people and not youngsters (as they rip the bike completely) it's definitely the best you can go for or else if you can stretch your budget, best go for a new 250R itself, the new colours are really awesome and eye killing, especially the Black and the Repsol one, . .

chuck it.. a new bike is always better.. in this case if CBR150 (new one) fits in your budget.. go ahead with it..

Karizma and CBR are the tourers you would wish, buy one that fits your pocket.

Buying a used R15 considering your budget constraint is also a good option. There are plenty available in big cities now. But it requires a lot of patience to find one that fits your requirement. Buy one 2-3 year old, less than 30K driven vehicle in around 60K, test it for a month. If you doesnt find it reliable take a 10k hit and sell it! But if it is good enough, you save around 70K straight.

Why has not anyone suggested him a P220. Excellent all rounder at the budget you are looking.Let me share some views on the P220 and the Duke 200 as a tourer:

P220: Excellent torque and high speed stability. Has ample power to cruise at 100 all day long. Semi-fairing helps cut windblast.Projector beams provide excellent lighting. Good suspension to handle potholes at the speeds I have mentioned and not loose composure. You can rip it, you can cruise on it, you can take it anywhere, with bullet proof reliability. I have done a 3500kms trip on it in 48hrs. I was tired like a dog but the machine wanted more.

Duke200: As per assumptions it can be used extensively in touring. My touring partner has one. Its weight to power ratio is excellent to make the quick overtakes on highways. Changes in directions can be made at a flick of the handle. Can be a scorcher in the city and also on the highways. I have difficulty keeping up with it in highway traffic. Its amazing to ride in twisties. My 220 takes time cornering in hills but in a blink of the eye the D200 is gone. Only drawback I agree is dealing with the windblast at speeds around 100. But you would forget everything keeping in mind the fun you would be having !

Touring can get bouring on an anemic bike. Torque is very very important there. Even though outdated a karizma or zmr will prove better than cbr150. In your budget another outdated bike is there 220, with a bit more jusice.

Karizma facelifts will be out soon, try them.

With your ambitious toring plan I will suggest a used cbr250 as a minimum. Once cbr 300 and some other bikes are launched price of used ones will come further down.

Or pickup any of the new launches.

P220 on less torque....brother u need to get the facts straight. Maybe P220 falls in the outdated category, however it is one of the most used bikes in the touring category. If torque was the criteria why don't you suggest the thread starter RE...or maybe since they are outdated or you consider them less on torque!

Brother I guess you have some problem in understanding what I said. I didn't said 220 lacks torque, I suggested that cbr 150 May not be as good as other listed outdated products for touring.

'bit more juice' doesn't mean less torque, instead the opposite!

I think touring on a 220 for last 4 years helped me understand that machine. May be not as much as you though.

RE when not RE among suggested list, looks like you didn't read thread starters opening post!

Any way I liked the way made me dumb who thinks RE lacks torque. Good work!
