Re: Bike for 18yr old within 8 lac INR

hey yash,
dear wannabe before u choose to be a sbk rider let me share some of my experiences with u!
i own a cbr150r, since aug 2012..this is my first bike.
im always a wannabe racer and ride often at high speeds..
once when i was riding at nh45 highway at chennai i was riding at speed of 143+kmph and twisting more to cross the old topspeed record of 152kmph but at a point the road conditions were unexpected and those tarmacs were melted and formed some sort of bumps..as i was reving at high, front tyre hit those bumps and lost control in my bike...at that instant i was automatically thrown out of bike, rolling down on the road for few distance then wat else...shit happened

Ambulance came and picked me up to GH…guess wat that was my first drive in an ambulance
I suffered hell lot of pain due to the major injuries…everyday I spent 2-3 hours for dressing at hospital (malyalee nurse was looking good infact :P ), I did not sleep for two nights, I was literally crying due to worse pain at night…I was roming inside my house from room to hall back and forth I cant even sit because injury everwhere so cant rest or give support to both arms…my mom was spoon feeding me for few weeks. Thank god I was wearing a ls2 helmet that why im alive today…these picture u see above are taken after two weeks of accident!

do u understand the level consequences if we fall from 1.4lakhs 140cc 17bhp bike then what would happen if u loose control in 883 cc, 650cc etc...i thought of sharing these pics will educate u well about the risk of riding something that can go beyond our control!
since after the incident, i never miss helmet for commuting and fully gear up for long distance rides

the gears brings up much better confidence for riding on idiots and animal filled roads in india

yash bro, consider my personal suggestion seriously...
buy a 150cc initialy for learning how to ride properly , understand our road lines , art of safe riding etc
if u want racing instinct or agressive riding, good iniitial pickup , stylish looks go for r15 v2 (racing, commuting, short trips, mileage)) or
if u want a very smooth ride, comfortable erganomics, top end speed then choose cbr150(racing, commuting, touring, mileage) or cbr250(commuting, touring, comfort, mileage)
if u want a high pickup, free handling naked looks go for duke200 or 390!even ninja 300 i wont recommend it for u, its high powered bike, may not suit u initially!
there is a step by step procedure before going for a sbk....first learn in 150 or 250 for two years ride it welll then upgrade to 650 next 1000 after that anything u desire because practicing this procdure teach u things:
*u will really realise the real power and performance of higher cc bike during upgrade from lower one and u will love it, appreciate it
*u would have learnt many things about those bikes in those period and u will automaticaly know which is suitable for u weather ur a hooligan or sports tourer or racer or stunboy or cruiser..

then coming to ur old bike
try not to blame the issues on ur vespa...having more money and u didnot maintain ur bike even after crashing so many times then it ur fault! if u cant even maintain a small vespa then how are u gona maintain a sbk in furutre? sbk's demands huge maintainance, if u dont do it then u will hate it, will not care to touch it and keep cursing about the good bike all ur life!

buy a beginner sports bike, put the rest of the cash on ur account, invest it on good original branded gears, pour more fuel go on many long trips u will love it and thats real way of enjoying a life!

ride safe!

I kinda have a weird feeling here, is this showoff guy is Cleaner or related to him. . . Cleaner kudos you have a friend of your's and BTW you said you get first or second class marks and never came first, , so watch out what you say, everyone of us have learnt our lessons from you, so it's better you shut up and don't give wrong information to others. . .

Now coming to the topic, @yashdixit97, firstly stop blaming your bikes, seriously I was also a reckless rider than what you are, though I had good control of my vehicle (touchwood), I too was a kind of you who never used to wear gears or at least helmet and used to show off all the time, but then around 1 year or so back, someone changed me (don't ask who, ) after that I started wearing helmet, initially it was kind of irritating as I had ridden almost for 7 years without one and now riding with one was difficult, I started wearing it every two to three days once and slowly it became a habit, then after that I worked a bit and got myself some money and got Vega Axor helmet which I presently use (cos I don't like asking for parents) and now I don't ride without helmet and also for the time being am using a leather jacket, soon will save up and get a good riding jacket. . . My sincere advice to you as mentioned by someone, first start from a 110 or 150cc bike, RESPECT THE BIKE, learn riding properly, understand your roads and be a good rider, your parents too will be happy that you are taking a 1.5lac bike and saving their other money, another advice don't buy a car now, first learn the bike properly then join some good driving class and learn driving properly their. . . Then get yourself whatever you want. . . It's not that we don't want you to buy a superbike just that we don't want to see something bad happening to you in the future (touchwood) cos for a guy who can't handle a scooter, even if he's given the best bike, you'll crash again. . . So first now at least ride your Vespa properly, money is what makes you speak so much words and again lie with the Xbhp terms, use decent language, sometimes it's fine and not always. . .

and the result is i am an iitian
and the result is i am an iitian
and the result is i am an iitian
and the result is i am an iitian AIR 238
and the result is i am an iitian AIR 238
and the result is i am an iitian AIR 238

SO WHAT. . ?

Again, change your attitude. . . No need to call us (or at least me as sir, you can call me Rakesh). . . Anyways, good luck, you have a bright future don't get it into the darkside. . .

PS: @HyperRetard what dialogues mann, awesome , you made my day too (Y). . .

yes sir i have driven quite some cars
of which i have driven
a vw vento tdi and a renault pulse rxz and a bmw 530d quite extensively within mp
they were majorly family drives
with two or more cars

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

thank you sir for your guidance
and sorry if you thought that the post was a bit vulgar
my first time on a forum

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

nice picture laughed quite a bit about it
yes sir i want a bike which is a eye magnet
thats what i want it to do

and on my defence te vespa is very risky to drive
first of all the rear brakes are really tricky even if you tug it a bit the wheel locks

and the front break well doesnt exist

and when reported this to the guy
at the service center
he said buy the vx version we cant do anything about this one

and the worst
the tires are shit
the have a woody feeling to them and not at all grippy
yes you might be right that i miight have ruined the gearbox even my relative was saying what have you done to it

and about cars my family has had some the worst one was a qualis and versa
after those my dad never went out to try another asian car and he quite loves german cars as he had a third hand beetle in libiya when he was posted there by the indian government

so thats why alll this
thank you for your attention looking forward for your response

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

thank you sir
actually my parents are very much concerned about my safety especially my grand father and as all of my family basically consists of doctors they do quite stress about the helmet
but no one in my house has ever ridden a motorcycle as extensively as my dad and he had a yezdi
so no one really knows the importance of the gear
i do always wear a helmet that is one of the conditions put forward my my family
and just wait till may of next year till i get my bike then you might believe me

thank you for your attention waiting for your response

You got us wrong, We don't want you to die, that's the reason we are stressing the importance of safety and also that we are saying the same again and again, hope something goes inside. . . We have nothing to lose whatever happens to you or whatever you buy but the thing is we want you to help you come out of this childish behavior, be more matured, learn basics and go for the big one's, you can't straight away jump from a 10th floor to 1st floor, it's a stepwise manner, first you got to come to 9, 8, 7 and so on, it's not that you can't jump directly but if you do, you'll have a price to pay, a pretty hefty price. . . That's why learn the basics and go pro. . . That's all am gonna say here, rest all will be just a watcher in this thread. . . Good luck, that's the least I can say now . . .

Cheers!!!

sir actually
even i dont know if they will live up to the promise of the bike but sir the octavia is a family necessity as my family does a lot of highway tours and the laura has gotten quite old
so they will buy the octavia for themselves
even i doubt about the bke

thank you for your response

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

thank you sir for your concern
one of the reasons that i did not crash the cbr as i respected it a bit and the second fact that it had abs that didnt let me skid
and sir i will surely consider your poll
thank you sir for your input looking forward to your answer

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

no sir actually i was quite busy from a few days as i had a submission coming
and my dad personally does not like SUVs and thinks that they are a waste of diesel
my family only as some diesel cars
as my dad is an average freak and respects his income as he knows it is hard earned
and yes my question still stands which bike would you buy if you were in my place
thank you for your input
looking forward

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

i am really sorry sir and i ask for some lineincy as this is my first time on a forum like this
and i am sorry if you think this was showing off
but my parents thought getting into iit is quite a big deal so i wrote about it as other newcomers write
and i think i would love to hear more from you as i am avid to get home my new bike
and will allways look up yo you gys

thank you sir for your inputs

and octavia is just a replacement for the laura which is getting quite old
it will just be another family car
as my family does loads of interstate trips

thank you

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

sir all i have is a vega helmet and that too is scratched too by the sides as 3/4th of the accidents i have been involved in are because of those bloody cows but my parents are a bit forgiving they wanted me to get into iit as i am not that good studies i had to study a lot
and i all i could dream while those two years of the bike because while still in school my parents would never allow a bike as technically all the members of my family are doctors
i will soon get all the riding gear
thank you for your input respect for you

sir you are right but the duke and the harleys have abs atleast as an optional extra

sir actually (your point) the other bikes dont have abs and still they commute
true
but i have an enthusiastic driving style and i have abs seems to be great help while riding thats why
and all the crashes i have been in are because of skidding and nothing else thats why i am forcing on that point of abs

Re: Bike for 18yr old within 8 lac INR

Been reading the posts for quite a time will directly come to the point.
If i was your age and wanted a bike which will be eye catchy plus had an abs and had the independence of budget the kind you have and it would be my first bike i would have chosen between the Repsol edition Honda Cbr 250 r or Ninja 300 both have good looks power figures have good street presence. Than i would have bought an awesome helmet SOl or LS2 preferably a supercool riding jacket boots gloves knee gaurds and all the safety gears it not only would have made my street presence felt but also will save my brains from being splattered on the road. Than slowly over the years i would learn my bike and gain much experience i would graduate to much powerful bike.

Look bro you are rich but and you always will be, your money ain't going any where so utilize it in best way you could. You are still young just start from small bike get perfection on them respect them mod them and then move on to bigger ones.

2. Dont use foul languages in any forum.
3. we all are confused here what you are studying.Initially you said you are on 12th,then told IIT now telling 11th.
Are you so much confused about studies?Take a break buddy.
4.Lets come to vespa part.My friends sis got vespa and as far a i know she didnt fall from it.i guess you tried to cross the limits of vespa.
5.Lets come to super bike question:When you cant handle vespa which barely cross 80kmph do you think you can cruise in a sbk in 160kmph?
first get yourself a 150-250cc bike ride for a year or so.Then think of buying a bigger bike

A 18 yrs guy getting a 23 lac car, approx 1.5 lac laptop, 30k mobile and 8 lac bike altogether in one shot and the person doesn't even have a license to drive!

Please slow down, learn about stuff, respect them first then buy them.

The Monk has written exactly what came to my mind while I was reading your write up.
He shouldn't have approved the query.

Sorry to say this, but this is how kids are spoiled.

Say what we can about his riding skills and maturity at least the kid has the cohones to reply to all our withering criticisms.
yash: Take all this criticism positively. Reading your opening post was like staring at an obituary for me. Yes your parents are offering you such a huge budget. But please do not buy a high end bike now. Buy an R15 or a Ninja, learn the skills of motorcycling and then in a few years upgrade. You have shown good grace by sticking to this thread which at parts have gotten pretty abusive towards you (unless of course you are a Class A troll). Now convert that grace into maturity and some sense and start with a low powered bike.

Just consider it like this: Before motorcycling first you learn to ride a cycle right? Because even if you fall from a cycle, your injuries wont be severe. Also because it is very tough to kill people with a cycle (unless of course you use it like Lord Sri Krishna). Just imagine what would happen if before you rode a cycle you were straight away given controls to a Ninja.

Since nobody is saying about it which bike under 8 lacks as your conditions are 8 l and abs, May be street triple, bonnie are good to look at, but best bike that will suit you is rtr 180 abs or something. Tvs gear boxes must be cheaper than triumph. Breaks are metal and tires are of rubber.

If at all you talk like a half iitian I may not have said this.

Whoooooooa....! This thread made my day.....!
Buddy....you said you are 18....you said you are in 12th...you said you are doing engg at IIT.... ! Hmm that really sounds great...apne bohot acha jhut bola . Buddy, if you have so much money to spend, can i get an alienware along with an HTC one as well..? . I Can't understand the need of a high end sbk if you can't even handle a vespa. BTW, that IIT joke was awesome ROFL . . I had a friend of mine who died on 1st january this year, he used to ride an activa. On new years eve , he was partying when a cop on his bike followed him,two of his friends where on pulsar 220 and they escaped , hesaw a flyover he was trying to turn at a sharp turn but due to poor handling and low riding experience he tried to turn at the speeds of 60s , at 12:07 AM , his scooty crashed into divider and his heart was punctured because of the impact , he died on the spot.
The reason why I am telling this story to you is, Not everytime your helmet can save your life, blaming on a vespa is not the solution, if you think your vespa has woody wheels then you should ride it according to it's limits . And if you cant control a scooty , then even a 110 cc bike is dangerous for you. Riding a scooty is very very easier than riding a bike, if you can't handle a scooty, then even thinking of an sbk is a sin....! I hope you will take my opinion positively!
Cheers
Ride safe!

Cats have 9 lives is what they say, but humans have only one...

1)stop posting and start studying so that you pass your 12th
2) study harder so you get that dam IIT seat
3) now get your self a license to drive
4) Get a motorcycle with gear, new /used but some thing
5) ride for 50-80 thousand KM without falling or hurting your self or anyone else

and all through point 1 thur 5 keep reading and posting xbhp.com gain as much knowledge you can

Once your done steps 1 to 5 your ready for a bigger bike that can do the 0-100 in 6 seconds why hell buy yourself a busa....
but without serious KM of experience of riding any vehicle is a weapon of self destruction and public destruction.

so please be safe remember there is always some one waiting at home for you..... and damm there are cows every where in india to check and ensure bikers ride within speed limits
