vinchel24.. If 7-page discussion can't help you decide on a bike, i doubt any more would be of any help.
Kindly take your time now and decide what you want to buy.

Ride safe and have fun.

Congrats to you if you are getting that mileage but most of the bajaj owners i know are fed up with there vehicles average.

Pulsar 180 on stock engine - 90000 kms run (clutch plate replaced once) is returning consistently 46-48kmpl
Presently my ride is 220 and that too is returning around 38 inside city and 45+ on higways consistently.. close to 32k now

Unicorn is nice choice but the only problem with honda is ASC.If you can stretch your budget to 1.5lac, then why not look at RE electra also.

For your kind of usage, check out the new FZ V2.0. Sufficient power and low-end torque and FI is there.

Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day

I own a pulsar 150 since 2004. Covered 83000 km till date. It has always consistently given an average of 60kmpl. Needless to say I drive it sedately. 45-55kmhr. Since a year now in my new job I have to travel 80km daily to and fro. I have been doing it so far on pulsar but I feel I should change my ride as it is not very comfortable. Though the back pain is not a lot but I may have issues in future. I too was considering the zma but I hate the new looks. I wonder how are scooters for such daily commutes. I never ride above 60kmhr. Plus added benefit of space. Wego, aviator and new activa also come with disks which I feel are important for braking. But I'm not sure how comfortable scooters are for long rides. Would be nice if someone could throw some light on it.

You are not riding above 60kmph speed and looking for a scooter you should get one they are very comfortable please test ride every scooter whichever in your list and then select

Scooters have small tyres so every small bump feels huge and may cause u back pain. But if your riding on a good road the scooter will serve you well. Also in traffic where u need to clutch and declutch often, the scooter saves ur hands from paining big time.

The ns gives around 38kmpl when u rip it. It u ride it around 45-50 constant speed on highway I get 53kmpl.

U should go for a unicorn or dazzler. Smooth engine which never tires. Dazzler actually gives 60kmpl and im not very sure about the unicorn which the company says 55kmpl bt it should give around that much
Unlike the discover which some one in this post which gives 54kmpl. What a waste. Wouldnt buy that bike. If your getting a bike with more power and average deffinitely go for it.
A bike with a low compression ratio should have less vibrations for eg. The unicorn.
The ns has a high compression ratio hence more vibrations
And technically a low compression ratio engine should give more average which is not always true. But a engine with low compression ratio will give good average even if u rip it. Because fuel required for an engine with low compression ratio to pick up is less. A high compression engine needs more fuel to prevent knocking
If u want a bike to rip and want average go for the new zmr which has a not too low and not too high compression ratio and also has fuel injection.
If you dont mind a little less average and want better pick up go for the ns.
