Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day
Trigger will give you 50-55 kmpl only if you will keep it below 50kmph whereas zmr will give you 45+ kmpl even if you will ride it at constant 90 kmph. Trigger will feel stressed after 80 kmph whereas 80-100 kmph is zmr's comfort zone....Originally posted by vinchel24 View Post

Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day
vinchel24 , you have the answer man. If your budget is strictly limited to 80k and go for trigger with eyes closed. pulsar 200ns and karizma R 2014 are equally priced around 95k onroad. Zmr is 120k onroad. This indicates pulsar 200ns is the best buy and value for money.
You are already using fz, so trigger won't be an upgrade. in my view that's a downgrade in looks, stability, handling, almost all departments except mileage. For 10k difference with 200ns you get 10 more bhp, rear disk, excellent handling bike.
price difference between zmr and trigger is around 35k. 200ns betters zmr in performance. So choose the best bet. 200ns satisfies both heart and mind. That's my bet.

Well, he did say Fuel Economy and I don't think the P200NS offers the FE he is looking out for.. well, I can't be sure.. since it is a Carb'd engine, I feel this way. Else he can wait for the P200NS FiOriginally posted by Matcha View Post@vinchel24 , you have the answer man. that would be a better bet.. but for that the wait is too long..
Test ride all the 3 bikes mate.. find the one you are comfortable with.. Like Naveen has mentioned, being a 150cc, the bike will struggle after 80 kmph and the FE will reduce tremendously.. I faced this problem with my Hunk back in Chennai when I went for to Mettupalayam from Chennai.. I was able to ride it at 80-90 constantly.. but at the cost of losing the FE.. whereas at the same speeds on my ZMR, i got a decent FE of above 45 kmpl.. infact, riding at 100-115 kmph on ZMR gave me an FE of 41 kmpl in avg..Originally posted by vinchel24 View Postthanks for the replies and thanx to @rreneav1987 for the review links..... so finally the list comes to zmr, pulsar 200ns and cb trigger
also forgot to mention that my own beast is a 2009 FZ16 which has clocked around 25k till now. I had initial plans of bringing the beast here but daily 90km would definitely take more than 2 litres per day (I have usually been getting 47+ on my fz as I had detuned the engine for less power and I ride it always at 45-55  ) and its not practical.
So at the beginning of this thread, I had fixed the zmr but day by my mind wanders toward the trigger.
True that the trigger has been rarely seen on road but I have seen the following pluses with it.
Tubeless tyres, the smooth and refined Unicorn engine, a guarenteed mileage of 55+, good seats, monoshock suspension, Good looks and in overall a
FZ weds Unicorn bike.... Also the on road price is reasonable
Frankly I feel that a 150cc commuter bike would be easy on my pocket rather the performance based zmr , p200 ns.. Please advice me on this point...
but the choice is yours.. my suggestion would be to select the bike which you feel is comfortable.. Keep a bandwidth for safety gears as well in case you don't have them..Splendor - 2k to 2006

Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day
1. GS150R - Comfort, Mileage, Highway performance (limited to 75-80kmph), Low maintenance.
2. ZMR - Comfort, Mileage (35-40), Excellent highway performance (upto 100 kmph stress free), slightly stiff maintenance.
3. Honda Trigger - Comfort not like above two, highway performance like GS150R, average maintenance.
I think GS150R goes very closer to your requirements. Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).

Absolutely.. With just 1.2 l of petrol you can achieve this 80 km in a Dream neoOriginally posted by Anuj_Gupta View PostDon't look further than honda dream yuga/neo.
Or you may try centuro but if o were you, I would've brought yuga as 80kms per day is a lot

Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day
I don't think a 110cc engine will be able to do 80 km.s per day for a prolonged period of time. It'd be like putting too much of stress on it.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day
It can definitely do 80 kms per day. Provided you ride the bike slowly. As in 50 kmph.. which isnt feasible on highways.. atleast not for me.. no ways.. anything beyond that speed everyday will be a disaster and well.. maintenance will be a pain..Originally posted by krishna77 View PostI don't think a 110cc engine will be able to do 80 km.s per day for a prolonged period of time. Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day
OMG two more competitors : dream yuga and neo
Regarding trigger, even my aunt who works in Honda showroom, told that the trigger has been a flop in sales (atleast in my native Trichur) figures wise.
So P200 NS and Karizma back
2 Questions please
P200 NS, Will I get 45+ mileage, if I ride it in the 50-60km/hr and will the seating be good and back-pain-free for 45km at a stretch?
Karizma : will I be able to get the old hero honda zmr anywhere? I dont like the front visor and the lengthy back as it kind of spoils the sport stance of the bike.....

Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day
Any bike will give you low mileage if you are gonna ride the bike above economy zone which is between 45 to 55 km/hr, you need a bike which has got atleast 150cc engine as you have to ride 80kms/day, in 100cc take a look at passion xpro, same engine as of yuga or neo but better tuned i think, or take a Td of yamaha Szr, i think you are gonna love this bike.

Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day
I wonder why is no one suggesting a cbr 150 to you. It has all what you need. It also has intelligence of its own on the hills. You need not do anything. It gives you power when you need it and runs optimum when you want to cruise. Its safer and more reliable on the ghats. Its comfortable at high speeds with full fairing to protect your chest against the drag.
I would say it is made for riders like you. The ones who drives around 100 kms a day with a mix of city and highway rides.
No, I am not a honda fanboy. Just envy you for what you could buy and enjoy and I couldnt!
Never went out for more than 50km one way on two wheels in the last decade. And that too only twice!
If you are low on budget get the 200 ns, the karizma, the fazer in order of preference.

Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day
bro researched and rode the sz for test ride around 4-5 times (for a friend). Bike is just a souped up commuter. It is a good bike, one of the cheapest 150cc bike, but having an FZ, I don't think the SZ would really fit my billOriginally posted by kusmaker View PostAny bike will give you low mileage if you are gonna ride the bike above economy zone which is between 45 to 55 km/hr, you need a bike which has got atleast 150cc engine as you have to ride 80kms/day, in 100cc take a look at passion xpro, same engine as of yuga or neo but better tuned i think, or take a Td of yamaha Szr, i think you are gonna love this bike.

Bro cbr 150 is around 1.4L on road, which is way too much for a 150cc bike (in my limited knowledge). Besides the zmr would be there for 1.15 on road with 220cc.. Would be a better deal rightOriginally posted by muztariq View PostI wonder why is no one suggesting a cbr 150 to you. It has all what you need. It also has intelligence of its own on the hills. Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day
You mentioned the budget of 1.5 l thats why I suggested this bike. Dont confuse it with any 150 cc machine. Its innovation at its best. Just go through the cbr 150 thread. I know in comparison to a 200 ns this would be 40k more. But this is it! If you can afford, dont leave this opportunity. A 200 ns would be as fast as a cbr 150 at the top end. You have to ride a faired bike for an hour at 100 km/ hr to understand what I am trying to tell you. R15 has an aggressive posture and may not be comfortable, otherwise anyone of these could do wonders for you.Originally posted by vinchel24 View Post

Also, you have the liberty of selecting a bike irrespective of its mileage. As on long rides at 80 km/ hr a 500 cc, a 150 cc, a 200 cc and even a 97 cc has more or less the same mileage.
My vote for cbr 150 if you can afford.

Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day
I can give my experience of highway riding on Pulsar 200 NS.Originally posted by vinchel24 View Post

I rode approx 500 kms in a day on the NS and I got 45-46 kmpl. This ride included mixed riding with occasional top speeds of 135 kmph and average speed of 80 kmph.
I think one can get more FE with less throttle input, which is very difficult when you are riding 23 horses of raw power.
The necessity of fairing was felt at speeds above 100 kmph because of heavy wind blast.
The seat is very comfy with much room for the butt. I had no back pain at the end of the day.
The engine is very much refined, even after full day of ride, at the end of the day the engine was pretty smooth and at ease.
In city riding i get 36 - 40 kmpl.

Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day
Don't know why are you suggesting a bike making only 12.8nm torque and that too at higher revs over a bike which generates 19.8 nm of torque which makes it effortless to ride in ghats as well as on steep inclines. On the other hand one will have to work hard to use the power of baby cbr in comparison to zmr....Originally posted by muztariq View PostI wonder why is no one suggesting a cbr 150 to you. Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day
I am not sure if you have seen the bike in fleshOriginally posted by vinchel24 View PostKarizma : will I be able to get the old hero honda zmr anywhere? I dont like the front visor and the lengthy back as it kind of spoils the sport stance of the bike.....
if you did, you won't be saying this.. trust me.. the bike looks wonderful in flesh.. I was one of the first to TR the bike and as soon as I saw the white ZMR 2014, I fell in love with it. yes, I was one of those who was smashing Hero for launching such an ugly looking bike by just seeing the pics.. but realized and felt ashamed for saying that..
If you haven't seen the bike in flesh, you should.. the bike looks lovely.. with 20bhp in your hands and 19.7nm torque is just perfect for that price. You get the added advantage of the visor which will protect you from the horrible wind blasts.. if you are going to be riding on the highways.. trust me, you won't be riding at 60 kmph
with all that power the P200NS and ZMR offers, you won't stop from twisting the throttle..
Like I always say, TR both the P200NS and the ZMR.. see which will suit you best.. and go for the Bike you like..
another advantage of ZMR over the P200NS is the FI engine.. FI is anyday better than the Carb'd engines.. I am not saying P200NS is a bad bike.. but the FI does the justification for the extra money you are going to shed on the ZMR.. the Throttle response is better in FI engine over the carb'd engine.. I felt this when i was riding a ZMR and Karizma back to back in 2011
