Also my route is mostly a ghat section with climbs and descents and 4 hairpins. So would a 100-125cc bike be enough?

Avenger 220? I have ridden the bike once its butter smooth but does it fill all my bills? daily 80km to and fro, zero maintenance, mileage 40+ and also good torque for the ghat section? I was under the assumption that it's one of the best cruiser bikes available for ride in long flat highways

yeah A220 covers all your bases-if you don't wring its neck everytime,mileage is 40+------but i ride WOT,my mileage is 37/38-----and i do 54kms a day,3 days a week

Are there any reliability issues with the avenger, what i have heard is that rear tyre is prone to slipping plus the gearing is very short and hence on highways bike gets out of breath very early.

So finally one more added to my list
Karizma zmr
Avenger 220
Honda trigger (yes I added it It actually looks like a marriage between unicorn and fz. Unicorn's engine and fz 's body somewhat ). Specifications look good and mileage of around 50 assured. Is this a good choice for my 40km one way commute?
The low and middle end torque is also fine I guess.

vinchel24.. Now go and take multiple test rides of these bikes and don't make the list long and end up confusing yourself. All three bikes are good and would be comfortable.

Ride safe and have fun.

Zmr is any day better than avenger. Avenger is just a dummy cruiser with detuned and extremely short geared engine which feel uneasy and stressed after 95kmph. Ride both of them at 100 kmph for 5 mins, You'll come to know what i mean....

Pulsar 200 NS would also be able to handle your requirements with ease.
Has good comfort, decent fuel efficiency, Power & handling and Bajaj service network is one of the widest in our country.

The ZMR would be a perfect choice..

Read the review of the new ZMR - 2014 from the first owner in xbhp : http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...4-version.html..

A long ride report of the ZMR - 2010 after a 5200 kms ride in 5 days - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...ml#post1072170 post number 13958..

the ZMR is just perfect for a long ride.. comfortable highway machine.. The best FE is got on my ZMR is 56 kmpl riding at 80-85 kmph on highways.. least i got was 34 kmpl on highways while riding at constant 120-126 kmph insane riding..

The 220 avenger is a good bike, but when it comes to maintenance, it would be a pain in the behind "if you know what I mean" - maybe things have changed with the 200NS..

Honda trigger is nice bike and mileage was never an issue with honda bikes even unicorn returns mileage of 50 to 55 km/l, the only problem is poor ASC and if you can find a good mechanic then i don't think you should be looking anywhere else.

in my 28k+ of owership, the bike has been totally reliable-only routine maintaince at the dealership ASS-the the rear tyre slipping has been an non-issue for me.

The only out of routine occurrence has been a broken clutch cable at around 10k mark-that too around 50mtr from a spare part shop

And what about long distance journey, have you taken your bike on some longer routes, i just wanted to know how well the engine behaves on long distances and in higher speeds continuously like cruisng at 80 to 90 km/hr. speed.

My suggestion, Go with a bike which has Tubeless tires, rather than tubed type. You wouldnt really want to end up with a flat tyre during your 80kn ride. Av220 has tube type tyre.
It's a lot like nuts and bolts - if the rider's nuts, the ride - bolts!

vinchel24, as per your requirements and agreeing to our xbhpians suggestions Pulsar200NS and ZMR 2014 suit best for you. Avenger is good but you should like it before you buy it. So test ride all three bikes choose the one which tickles your heart the most.

Re: Good bike for commuting 80km a day

thanks for the replies and thanx to @rreneav1987 for the review links..... so finally the list comes to zmr, pulsar 200ns and cb trigger

also forgot to mention that my own beast is a 2009 FZ16 which has clocked around 25k till now. I had initial plans of bringing the beast here but daily 90km would definitely take more than 2 litres per day (I have usually been getting 47+ on my fz as I had detuned the engine for less power and I ride it always at 45-55  ) and its not practical.

So at the beginning of this thread, I had fixed the zmr but day by my mind wanders toward the trigger.

True that the trigger has been rarely seen on road but I have seen the following pluses with it.
Tubeless tyres, the smooth and refined Unicorn engine, a guarenteed mileage of 55+, good seats, monoshock suspension, Good looks and in overall a
FZ weds Unicorn bike.... Also the on road price is reasonable

Frankly I feel that a 150cc commuter bike would be easy on my pocket rather the performance based zmr , p200 ns.. Please advice me on this point...
