  • Totally need help...want to buy a new bike

Hey guyz moderator just activated my account and this is my first post!

I will buy a bike this diwali
But i am confused a lot.

I am not concerned with the numbers(CC,0-60 top speed etc)

All i need in my list is
    1) least maintainacne
    2)good mileage
    3) less vibrating fearing
    4) Long life(5-6 years)

My budget is around 1 lakh rupees(little bit streachable)

All i need is a bike to showoff and should be speedy!!

I first selected P220,Then due to its poor life and mileage i rejected it

I am planning of Karizma zmr 2014

Is it worth buy?? Or should i see other options like yamaha fz-s 2.0 cbr 150r

My daily use is 5-6kms(city use)
    And thrice a week 30-40kms(highways)

    My height is 5'5
    Weight 60kgs
    Which wil suit me best!

I always say, never ask for opinion when you consider your education and what you intend to buy!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

Test ride the bikes and buy the one that suits your requirements

After all, it is you who is going to admire it and ride it for 5 to 6 years.. not the ones giving you advice or opinion/options..

      Karizma - 2k3 to 2009
      P180 - 2k6 to 2k9

      ZMR - 2010 to Forever

Yes, I agree. Take a test drive first.

Also the points you mentioned, here is my opinion.

        1) least maintainacne: Yes, Hero bikes are known for low maintenance.
2)good mileage:That depends on bike & your maintenance. How you keep your bike. Any bike will perform, as long as you love her.
        3) less vibrating fearing:Sorry, No idea with fairing quality.
        4) Long life(5-6 years):Again it depends on your love for her.

Your Budget will extend to somewhere 1.10-1.20 Lakh in-case of Karizma ZMR. Since you are planning for Diwali. I'm hoping few launches from other manufacturer. How about Apache RTR ABS? It fits your budget.

Re: Totally need help...want to buy a new bike

Check out the new Hero Xterme(2014), it has the fresh new looks, the Hero reliability, and the service and maintenance is cheap.
Mileage will depend on your riding style, and also on how well you maintain your bike.
As far as long life is concerned, every vehicle is made to last at least 15 years, that is why it is registered for 15 years, and after that renewed for 5 years. I have a 18 year old splendor and a 24 year old chetak and they are still going strong. So it all comes down to how well you treat your bike. keep it healthy and it will serve you fro years to come.

Now comes the money part, CBR150R is 1.3 lacks, so you'll have to stretch your budget quite a bit.
Yamaha Fz2.0 costs 90k, but the service and spare parts are very expensive.
Trigger from honda is another good option.
Apache RTRs also fit your budget.
test drive and choose what suits you the best.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

I hate tvs (long story) so no apache
I feel cb trigger lacks looks
Cbr 150r-test driven it but it feels powerles at low RPM's

Ill go for zmr 2014 or try for old model as it is good looking!
            Or fzs fi v2.0

I didnt liked the new extreme

And maintainance part is concerned,,i maintain bikes as they are my family members!

CBR 150R - Out of your budget and lacks basic feature like engine kill switch.
FZS - No rear disc brake.
R15 - If you can stretch your budget and okay with uncomfortable city ride.
Apache - Cheap maintenance, great mileage, sufficient power and ABS is cherry on top. Lacks in looks but seems appropriate bike for your requirements.

Yamaha after sales service is pretty good, the authorized service centers are good. Spare parts are expensive as compared to indian companies(hero, bajaj, tvs).
Maintenance (regular service) is not too heavy on pocket, as long as you dont crash the bike.

                    No problem brother.
Just to give you a rough idea about the expenses.
The free services for my R15 cost about 1000 rupees, paid services costs about 1500 - 1800 rupees(depending on the work to be done on the bike).

yes, about the same. It may even be a bit less, because you dont have to pay for coolant refill.
Also the engine oil used in R15 is semi synthetic which is costly - 550Rs.
Dont know what type of oil Fz 2.0 uses, its price and amount will also affect the service bill.

Re: Totally need help...want to buy a new bike

Dude, a person's choice in bikes is like his choice in women. everyone has their own take on it.
if you want to buy a bike and if you ask for opinions, sure enough you will get loads of it. and of course you too might have certain models that caught your eye.
my advice (and this comes from personal experience):-
                          *make your own list
*go check each and every bike In Flesh
                          *test drive every bike
*test drive again if there is still confusion.
*once you narrow down to your choice, then hunt for a showroom that gives you a good deal, (added bonus if it has a well reputed service centre too)

                          and then go for it!!!

Great bike. Perfect for Indian conditions and quite comfortable.

Get a bike according to your needs. We can just shortlist options for you. I'd suggest you to take test ride of both Apache 180(ABS) and Karizma.

I think by this Diwali, Fazer V2.0 will come out. That'll be another good option for you apart from FZ V2.0.
Or else, ZMR and GS 150 are great bikes and you should test them as well.
From my personal experience, I've found Yamaha ASC better than others(I've not been to a Suzuki showroom - actually finding one is tough in Kolkata). Regular servicing of my SS125 sets me back by around Rs. 550-600. Charge should not me much more for FZ. And the parts in a Yamaha are little costlier than others due to the quality but those last longer as well.
