Black with black alloys. All stock setup, for the time being.

and i still thank god (n xBhpians :P) that i spent 6.5K more for Zma over d FZ. Very satisfied with my buy.

OKish sales experience too with Himgiri Auto, Krishna Nagar Delhi. Not bad, atleast not as much as I had started to expect from hearsay about HH showroom sales

Now maybe ppl will be confused between FZ and Apache RD/Fi and 200 DTSi oil coole.

But Zma vs Fz.... no confusion! Period!
Good pick Raghav. You will be even more satisfied with your buy in the long run.

All the best for the maintenance!! Keep it low for a few days.. you might get tempted!!

              thread title

just edit the title to reflect the opponent in this battle too.
Cos this ain't the common battle of zma vs p220 or R15, but it's zma vs FZ16

and alas, i've yielded to my temptations more than once already, with d long n empty DND and early morning ring road flyovers. :|

Can someone guide me to a good synthetic oil for the below specification:

                    SAE 5w20 or 5w30

The engine oil should meet the following classification:
                    API SJ or ABOVE,
                    ILSAC GF-3 or ABOVE

P.S. This is not for any two wheeler. This is for my car-Hyundai Verna petrol. I could have posted this in Team BHP, but there are some Engine Oil gurus over here whose words I value very highly (KP are you hearing)!

got my first service done today. gears are shifting much better. i asked technician to set idle rpm to a more reasonable value - 1600 seemed too much for me. it's around 1100 now on a cold engine.
sound of the engine and response at low rpms has also improved.

a screeching noise of some vibration was pestering me throughout the run in till now and the service fellows were unable to rectify it despite retightening of all fairing n mounting bolts.
So the Serv. Sup. ordered the technicians to open the whole fairing and remove the fuel tank and check.

It turned out to be a small wiring harness clip vibrating and rubbing against the fuel tank. Just pressed and tucked it in half a cm. and LO! no more noise.

mileage seems to be around 28-30 kmpl range.

Nice! How many kms.had you done till then?
Expect mileage to go up by around 5kms. by the time you reach 2nd Service.
My suggestion is: Please don't give her the stick for another 1-2K kms.!

noise had started from ODO reading 13km itself... right after my first fuel refill..
i'd done 512 kms at 1st service. reading right now is around 590-600 kms. initial mileage was around 29 kmpl. now i think it is actually giving 32. will post exact as soon as I hit reserve

before the 500km service, i used to limit her to 4k rpm for each upshift, and 3.5 to 4k for 5th gear cruising, and occasionally crossed 80 km/h speeds.

Now after first service, I've started upshifting at around 5 - 5.2 k rpm, cruise at 65-70 km/h and rarely touched 85-90km/h on the speedo, maybe once or twice.

(I was told this is the best practice, unless i was grossly mislead :-/ )

Thats good...has the noise subsided now?
I still feel that 4K RPM is the right shift in city-go upto 6K on highways.

hmmm. city or highway - 4k it is then. is it ok to ride in the 4.5-5.5k rpm range during the 1st 1000 Kms?

( Cos she starts to show her true colours only after 4K revs ! And it's difficult to be soooo patient to stay under 4K all the times )

the noise - it has completely vanished.

the problem area was swiftly diagnosed - wiring harness clip (painted black) had a small patch showing unpainted metal, and underneath the fuel tank also there was a small dot of unpainted metal showing at the exact corresponding place to where the clip was rubbing against it.

I don't think this particular issue should reoccur.
Can't wait to eat up my 1st 2000 kms.
At my rate of riding, it should take abt 30-40 more days

I would say control yourself&shift below 4K atleast for the 1st 1000kms. I did the same with my R15. Don't ask me how I ripped after that though.
On a highway, needless to mention, the minimum shift would be at around 5-6K RPM!
