Riding sensibly with spirit and passion will surely make you a mature rider, even on a tiny scooter. Don't fall for this kiddish KTM/Bullet war, you will only go away from the true spirit of biking. Try different bikes, see which one tickles your heart and soul and then decide yourself, not what others say, like you will be a man on this bike or that bike. Love your bike, respect other bikes and bikers. My KTM is almost 2 years old and people sometimes congratulate me thinking it's a new fresh virgin bike, why ? because I take care of it DAILY!!. So it's up to you how you respect your ride. Cheers !!

I have teat ridden CBR,pulsar, duke but booked RE without test ridding it.I don't know why.....!.Yesterday went on test ride expecting cumbersome ride.But bike felt extremely easy to control and cornering not at all a difficult task.I think god forced me to select it and I am loving it and extremely happy about my choice.I hope this love will continue even after that initial thrill fades and TB will remain as my joyful companion forever...

You asked for "valuable comments" ? Thats what fellow riders are giving you, they are not forcing you not to buy the bike of your choice. The final decision is always yours.

Dude to be fair, you had already decided you wanted a RE350 but still asked the question here. And as different people have different opinions that was what you got but there was still good feedback. Take what you like and leave what you don't, no need for any mud slinging.

Though bullet looks good (in its own vintage way), the weight and old technology doesnt make any sense. The weight is too much and it lacks safety (No ABS), this combination makes it deadly if you are touring at a fast pace in a country where finding surprises on road is too common. The RE doesnt come even with tubeless tyres which is basic for touring these days (reduces incidence of sudden puncture), in case of puncture even pushing this mammoth is ruled out because of weight. In the end, people can only suggest, its your life, your choice
Thats ok as some guys still prefer Nokia 1100 features compared to a modern day smartphone. Good luck on your purchase!

Although my reply will not help you or others in the buying process, but here are my 2 cents

I have been thinking of buying RE ever since they launched the Classic in the Indian market. I have been ( and still i am) a fan of RE, but due to the the issues that are mentioned on various forums about the quality of the bike and its parts, i have been reluctant to seal the deal. D390 is a good bike but due to the lack of comfortable space for a pillion, i have not gone ahead with the purchase.

Since 1996, i have been using a 4S ( which works very fine for the short distance commutes) since my office is hardly 6 kms one way. The issue now is that i am shifting places and from my new location, the office will be close to 40 kms (one way). So i need to make a decision to buy a new bike very soon.

But then again, quality of the RE is a big problem for me. I don't want to put in 1.7 Lacs of hard earned money and then see bad quality of parts or rust on the bike or maybe stranded on the highway due to some faulty part.

D390 as a package is a good bike. But as stated earlier about the comfortable pillion seat, i have not closed the deal and still on the lookout for a decent bike on which i can put my hard earned money.

Well congrats on your decision, its your choice (whatever be the reasoning behind it) that matters. A bullet no doubt is an awesome bike to own and even have long trips.

I had decided initially after riding my friends bullet for quiet some distance and lot of times on empty roads, i would buy a bullet as my next bike after my Fazer (this was during the initial phase when it was hardly a year i learnt how to ride bikes- the bullet was just more than a year old). My friend had an accident with the bullet, he had no leg guards on and so he had to shell out 15k for repairs. However this was not all , his bullet started giving starting troubles after that and gear being in no mans land issues later on. I had a trip on the bullet and i understood how much a PITA the bullet can be if you dont maintain it properly.

Secondly i got to ride it in heavy traffic situations a few times and found that its not as easy to maneuver it due to the heavy weight of the bike (of course after getting used to the bike it will be lot better) and also required lot of efforts just to move the bike behind from a parked position unless another person assists me ( i am not lean but neither have very strong arms and legs). All this factors made me think about buying a bullet and now I know bullet is not exactly the type of bike i would like for city conditions and a higher CC naked bike can give you same amount of cruising capability at high speeds on the highways sans the comfort and I have decided to go for the Duke 390. Not going for the faired versions as it can be a headache in traffic conditions (felt the sting when i used to see fz go out of spaces where my Fazer could not).

I have written all this story just to indicate how a bike which you think is best for you just based on popular opinions may not always be the best bike for you. So request you to have a test ride in traffic conditions, be sure you will take it for timely maintenance regardless of how busy you are and then take a plunge.

Well, the exact opposite happened to me 2 years back. I had booked a thunderbird, took one td of duke, and that spark thing happened, paid the booking amount next day and got the 200 in 2 days. Rode it happily for 2 years and now riding the RC390.
