exactly. I still remember the close shaves I had with dogs, jaywalkers on NH4 every friday night when I used to travel to my hometown from Bangalore, whereas my friend on his 220 would do constant 100 even in the dark.Originally posted by payeng View PostThe Projector Lamps on the P220 are the Brightest among current crop of desi bikes..

I just thought of adding one tiny bit. A wild card, if you may:
You mentioned the Thunderbird, right? Why not go for the Unit-construction engined Bullet classic then? The Cycleworld guys seemed pretty impressed by it and I gotta say, it's the first RE motorcycle that actually appealed to me.

Personal Opinion-For me its the other way round though I fully agree about what has been said about Karizma in this thread.Originally posted by pranay View PostThe ZMA is a much better tourer than a P220. It is relaxed and eats up miles without you knowing it. I own a p220 and having ridden both over long streches, I definitely cannot say the same for the P220.
@niranjan-Exactly my view.If you want more fun in your ride then P220 is the bike to go for.

Rather than slugging it out over a P220 and a Zma, this is a wonderful suggestionOriginally posted by Synn View PostI just thought of adding one tiny bit. A wild card, if you may:

@Krishna : Synna's suggestion makes perfect sense. You're looking for a tourer and you've already owned a Zma.
The newer RE's (With the UCE) are certainly far less moody than the earlier bulls. The oil-territory-marking and quite a few niggles have reduced is what ive heard from people here on xBhp.
Budget withstanding, the 500LB is atleast worth considering mate

is the UCE Bullet classic available here? I thought it was only for the export market.Originally posted by Synn View PostI just thought of adding one tiny bit. A wild card, if you may:

You can compensate for the poor lighting on Zma with an Osram Nighbreaker bulb. Really as good as P220s lighiting, though doesnot get better.Originally posted by payeng View PostThe Projector Lamps on the P220 are the Brightest among current crop of desi bikes..

The Classic is export-only as of now. Some RE owners we're told that the classic 500 will be launched. The launch date hasn't been revealed howeverOriginally posted by Synn View PostIs it? I was under the impression that India gets the 350 CC version while the 500 CC is export only.

I am a little bit apprehensive about the maintenance. I see lot of people complaining about engine related issues and maintenance.
But, I have to confess that no indian bikes will come close to the performance while riding through the hills. Anyone riding a UCE350 can reply regarding the maintenance?1> 2007 ZMA-R Aug '07-Sep '08 (25k kms)

I am sure the UCE is going to be very reliable. But it has not been "tried and tested" like a ZMA.
You said you are into touring... then you need 100% reliability. Though no bike can guarantee that, a bullet is usually not associated with reliability.
I think its a risk to go for the first lot from a new model.
I think you should stick to your original plans and choose between the 220 and the ZMA.
If you want refinement and peace of mind - I think the ZMA is the best choice. There are many other reasons why you might want the 220...

I owned the whole pulsar family except the P180UG3.
Dunno why but am a bit crazy about the raw power of it.
Have both now P220 and ZMA R.
Zma is very common in roads as compare to P220.
P220 gave more vibes , Zma have smooth engine.
Both are bad in circuit race - P220 - higher footpegs but unstable grip around corners while braking.
Zma - very low footpegs more a commuterish than a circuit racer though very stable grip and awesome braking with nissan brake pads.
P220 not as much as reliable as Zma.
Now if I was in your place , I definately go for Zma, but its your choice so you decide buddy!

Thanks everyone. I think I am falling for the zma again. Ofcourse, this time it will be black. Checked with sai motors and got a reply that they don't have stock and it'll take 15 days. There is some news of zma-fi coming out. But it hardly matters for me as long as the engine runs smooth and troublefree.
OT: Before selling off my previous zma, i was considering to fit HID, but some of my friends told that it voids warranty. I don't understand one thing about the warranty, is it for individual parts or for the bike?
eg: I run my bike on HID and something goes wrong in gearbox, then will i get the replacement under warranty or i have to pay for it?

Id paid in full for a black Zma R on the 17th of Feb to Prakash Motors. A lone Zma R procured from Sai motors was offered within a couple of days.
That bike had huge patches of touch-up paint on the tank as well as side panels.
I obviously didn't pick the bike and hence the patience-test from HHML
