    hello experts and enthusiasts,

    1. background:- i am 5'9'', appx 80 kgs age 33, i have been riding Thunderbird 350 cc for last 10 yrs. Did quite a few long rides of more than 1000 km and honestly the bike was pleasure except for last

two years when i was not able to pay the much required attention to any RE bike. Now i am looking for a bike which i will use for minimum five years before thinking of changing.

    2. requirements and aspirations(limitations too):-
    (a) i cant spend more than 3 lacs on road.
    (b) any RE bike is super last option.
    (c) reliability
    (d) performance
    (e) comfort
    (f) ASC
    (g) touring ability
    (h) max i can delay my decision for the bike is march 2016.
    3. i will be traveling 70% in city however quality of balance 30% ride is no less important.
    4. i ll be in Agra and Pune for next1.5 yrs, dont know where life will take me after that.
    5. bikes that i have considered
    (a) mahindra mojo (decision would have been easy if there was any clarity on ABS)
    (b) cbr 250 (i dont mind but is'nt it a very common bike?)
    (c) tnt 300 (after sale ??? and just on the edge of my budget, that means riding gear has wait for some time)

    thanx in advance

    Approved!

Sort out your riding gear first. Then see what budget you have left, for the bike.

If you drive slow and are not an aggressive rider (you do not go more than 60kmph) or a casual rider who only rides in the weekends you don't need to hurry up with the riding gear.(but do get it when you save up more)

I got my R3 on monday and have not touched it since. All I did was buy a new helmet and bike cover.

I would suggest you to go for TNT300 as its a great looking bike and is also a head turner.
Personally, even I would have gone for it but I like bikes with fairing and it was my dream to get a sports bike.
Just go for it man, dual front discs, usd forks, side mounted rear mono, fAAAt tyres, Shotgun of an exhaust, Italian Beauty.

Won't TNT300 be out of your 3lakh strict budget?

He said that TNT300 is at the edge of his budget so I guess its doable.

Re: bike under 3 lacs for daily use and touring.

I own the TNT 300 and I would for sure suggest you to get it if you can extend your budget by 50k.

I bought it over R3 for the following reasons: (This is strictly personal and has to intention to offend R3 owners in anyway)

              1. Rider comfort: The R3 has an aggressive position. If someone says it's not as aggressive as the R15 v 2.0, it still has a stance where you will be leaning on the handlebar. Whereas the 300 has an upright position and the feels like he/she is sitting "inside" the bike.

              2. Pillion comfort: The R3 pillion seat is a joke. The 300 has a wide pillion seat and is very comfortable for city rides and during long tours.

              3. Exhaust note: Pure eargasm.

              4. Linear power delivery: It doesn't fly on the word GO. This makes it very much suitable for city ride.

              5. Tyres: Thickest in its segment. Angel ST are good and has proven to have good mileage. Perfect for touring.

              6. Maintenance cost: This is where Yamaha R3 wins by a huge margin. Spare parts are locally available, the service cost is low compared to the 300. The spare parts for example the chain and the sprocket costs a bomb 18k. (If you are going to maintain your bike well then you don't have to worry about it as these parts will last long if maintained well)

Apart from helmet and a cover I am yet to install/buy the below items. I will be getting them one by one.

              1. Frame sliders.
              2. 3M PPF film.
              3. Jacket.
              4. Gloves
              5. Tank pad (if I am not satisfied with the PPF film).
              6. Saddle bag.

As of now, it's been a month and a half since I have got the bike and i have been driving 90% inside the city and its been great.

I understand that a CBR is common bike ... but it is a great option for the requirements and price. It is a proven platform and has great after-sales.

And with the money, you will not have to wait for the gear or think about sweets and party :-P

The more expensive the bike, so will be the running costs and maintenance. It is important to consider those factors as well.

I do not know about Mojo much and hence cannot comment ... but people seem to like it a lot... that is a bike that you won't find to be common
When I'm on the road, I'm indestructible. No one can stop me... but they try.

I totally agree with your points 2,3,4,5,(1 partially as it gives you a bit of pain in the wrists but not the back or maybe its just me. Yay for a strong back )
point 6, are you sure about service cost? I thought TNT would be cheaper.
Also Vinayak Yamaha here in Bangalore services DSK Benelli too. I found this when I went there to buy my R3.

Hey... I hope you are having fun with your R3. I almost bought it but the points I have stated above were the honest reasons why I went for the 300.

Also, I just completed my 1st service it costed me 3.9k. Whereas, I heard from a fellow friend from b'lore that it costed him 1.9k. Both are considered to fall under the "free service" category.

Here is the break-up of my bill:
                    1. Oil 3 litres - Rs 2500
                    2. Oil filter - Rs 315
                    3. Consumables - Rs 1000

The second service is going to cost somewhere in between 5.2-6k.

@Gollum- congrats on your R3. i love the attitude of just go for it man attitude"

@ shashank suresh - i am sure you are having an awesome time with the italian.my apprehensions about tnt300:-

                        1. maily after sale service, in the ownership threads i read about bike issues in middle of nowhere, RSA not reaching on time etc. it has made me little suspicious about reliability and svc issues.

                        2. as i said i know my future for only 2 yrs from now i dont know where i ll go after that, i hope dsk-benelli spreads its support base across india, but still doubtful as dsk-hyosung does not have a good record in this.

Every bike and every company has its own pros and cons. RSA not reaching on time is a one off issue. I do know fellow Benelli owners who had issues with their bike and the RSA team reached within an hour. As I stated earlier, we cannot expect 100% perfection from any company.

                            2. as i said i know my future for only 2 yrs from now i dont know where i ll go after that, i hope dsk-benelli spreads its support base across india, but still doubtful as dsk-hyosung does not have a good record in this. Hyosung does not have a good reputation when it comes to sales/after-sales/service. Still we have people buying it as they love the bike irrespective of how much they will get back (money) if they sell it after a few years. I would like you to go with what your heart says.

If you want a bike right now, get the MOJO and invest the rest of the money on gear.

Benellie TNT 300 is the right machine for you,

If you are really tight on budget and cannot even extend a little it can be Mojo or Benelli TNT 25.
