Re: bike under 3 lacs for daily use and touring.

Speculations aside ... did you try to TD any of the bikes in question. A bike may sound great on paper, but if it doesn't move you when you are on it then there is no point.

Also try the TNT25. It is very similar to the TNT300 and I felt it was bang on target for the money. The fit and finish is superb and handles like a dream. IMO brakes are good ... the only thing people complain about is feedback. Individual choices ...

I heard only good things about the Mojo, but never could ride it. I remember a thread here stating that Mojo can be retro fitted with ABS. If yes have a go at it.
When I'm on the road, I'm indestructible. No one can stop me... but they try.

@ shashank..you are in the best position to comment about the reliability of TNT300
TNT 25: The bike is light, torquey and powerful enough for the city and short rides. The tyre is grippy and it has a huge tank. May be I am saying this as I own the TNT 300. May be not ? I felt loads and loads of vibrations on the handlebars, footpegs and on the mirrors. First 3 gears was very uncomfortable when the vibrations were at its peak. The handlebar is low. Hence the rider has to bend down to an extent which is a big no no for me. I did drive it for quite a distance and it handled beautifully. But in bumper to bumper traffic my wrist did hurt due to the position. The bike feels nimble and small. Perfect for the city. For a 250CC bike, servicing it every 4 months or 4k kms is totally fine with me but the service cost is on the higher side which I am not okay with. Loads and loads of aftermarket accessories available.

TNT 300: Excellent machine for both city rides and touring. Tyres are extremely good but expensive. Absolutely no vibrations on the handlebar. The right mirror is useless as it is not fitted on the handlebar. The engine is smooth and refined. You can cruise all day in 110-120 kmph. You might feel sluggish at times when you try to rip the bike. This is because of the power to weight ratio. Headlight beam is okay, might consider changing it to an aftermarket light. Seats are super good. 200kms drive and it felt great. I've had a back surgery and my back is sensitive if I sit for a long time. But i didn't feel anything during last weekend's drive. Availability of parts is an issue. I guess this will get slowly get resolved as time progresses. The service center in Chennai do an amazing job. As you already know, 4k kms or 4 months you get to spend ~5.5k which is definitely on the higher side. You will be spending 18k per year just for regular servicing. Mileage: Average is around 30 kmpl. Spare parts are expensive: Clutch cable 1k, frame sliders 4.2k, chain 4k, sprocket: 14k, tyre 20k (both). Reliability wise I would give it 4/5.

If you would like to compromise on mileage, pillion seat, rider position, consider the Yamaha R3. It's a beast.

I'm in similar state of confusion Suggestions Required For 250+ CC and 3 Lakhs Budget!

I did a test ride of TNT 300 & Duke 390. The ride quality and comfort of TNT 300 was excellent while KTM has better pickup and you can totally feel the power of the 44 BhP which I couldn't sense on TNT 300 at 38 BhP.

Since you are looking at owning at for ~5 years, the best bet is TNT 300 or CBR 250. If your budget cannot exceed 3L, best to go with CBR 250 or KTM 390. I'm waiting for AutoExpo to make my decision as Bajaj might be launching a 400 CC and Yamaha might launch MT-03 (naked version of R3). The MT-03 will be 40-50k lesser than R3 which could make it around 3L. Benelli might launch TNT 400 mid of this year with a small bump in price from TNT 300.

So, within budget and assuming you want to get gears -- the only option is Duke 390!

You should consider it if the service history of the bike is clear
                Also check insurance claims
Zero dep insurance for most companies is 3 years
                So consider that too.

Re: bike under 3 lacs for daily use and touring.

Choices are really tough , here are my two cents to add to the confusion.... D390 is the most vfm in my opinion at the moment. But practically no pillion comfort. Also 2016 would be last year for d390. Next year would be new version.

Was reading on some other thread that production for cbr250 might also stop, unsure of authenticity of this news though. Of course Honda would launch 300 if they were to stop 250 in India. Perhaps no con for cbr250 that comes to my mind, except that seating is still not as straight wrt duke or tnt. Seating is an issue for taller guys (I'm 6'1").

TNT 300 seems to be a very promising bike, but for some, the maintenance cost would burn the pockets year on year. Is the TNT 300 new launch globally or existing bike launched in India?
R3 vs TNT 300 has been beautifully compared by tnt owner.

So basically let's keep the OCMD under control and wait for autoexpo

Your budget is 3lakhs and you want a reliable tourer.

I dont believe in getting 2nd hand bikes

Get R3 or wait for launch of MT03. (MT03 will be around 30-40k cheaper than R3 but you will have to put in a little extra over the 3lakhs)

Theres more to an engine than just the Odo reading. If you are getting a N650 for less than 3lakhs with less than 5k odo reading, then something seems off
