Let's see how my future beholds!
There are a few used TNT300 that I see come up for sale in the FB groups. Or is the used only limited to Ninja300 (There was a beautiful white being sold by an XBHP member).

I don't think anyone would sell a used TNT300 for less than 3L and a used Ninja 300 would be available between 2.5 to 3L easily. A used Ninja 300 is anytime better than used TNT300. I'm saying this after reading reviews from so many Ninja 300 owners. TNT300 maintenance is expensive and the frequency of service is very quick. Also, I would rather spend 50k more and get a new TNT300. The cost of Ninja 300 is 4.12L, so getting it at 2.8L to 3L is still a good deal!

RoyalIndian, xplod566, I was comparing ownership expense for any 3L, 250 + ... For a layman (like me) owning a performance bike itself would be very gratifying. After that... more the cylinder the merrier

haha yes.I would say if you are inclined towards Twin you can go for N300 but the parts awaiting period is too long.Or yo cna go for the R3.It does come with the least mantainance cost for a twin

I'm not supporting the TNT300 and actually my choice would be Ninja300. But a 3L TNT300 will be a 2015 and a 2014 Ninja 300 will be around 2.75L - 3.25L

A Naked has it perks and so were your options inclined... 2 nakeds and a faired one and hence the suggestion. And yes I did hear about TNT300's share of issues.

Whatever your options ... go with your heart :-) Good luck mate

Suggestions Required For 250+ CC and 3 Lakhs Budget!

It's been extremely disappointing press days at Auto Expo with no announcement or clue of MT-03 launch -- for which I've been eagerly expecting. I kept my buying plans on hold for Auto Expo and now I am back to square one.

The practical choice I have now is to go with KTM Duke 390 and upgrade to a better bike in couple of years. This choice brings back to the debate of one vs twin cylinder but for that extra comfort and performance I get with two cylinders (TNT300), not only am I paying 1.25 Lakhs more, the maintenance costs double as well. I was hoping for MT-03 debut inspite of its 3+ Lakhs cost as the maintenance cost would have been decent and Yamaha (FZ16) is a brand I've enjoyed over the years.

I'm not very keen on R3 due to the faired nature. Is there any other choices right now for me besides Duke 390 and TNT 300? Should I even consider Hyosung? Help! :|

Consider kawasaki Z250, if you are ok with it's price tag.

It has been disappointed for people like you waiting for a good buy. But atleast you dont have too many options to choose from. You are less confused now. As you stated on top, D390 would a good buy for you, for now atleast.

Hyosung GT650R is available for 2.7L (obviously second hand). I had a chance to ride a GT250R and man oh man. The riding posture sucks. You have to literally lean or I should say sleep on the tank. IMHO IT CANNOT BE USED FOR TOURING. I'm 5"8.

Beware of the N300 sold at this point in time. They might have been drowned in the recent floods. R3 is a good choice for you. Maintenance is low but the mileage is low.

As of now, I would suggest the below:

1. D390 - For now. Use it and later get a premium class bike.
2. R3 - For ever probably LOL
3. TNT 300 - For ever. If you are ready for a premium class bike.
Its better to sweat than to bleed...

I've already given up on used bikes due to Chennai floods situation and also for the fact there aren't much choices. I agree the TNT300 is a better build quality over D390 but how premium is it really? Are you defining its build quality as premium or its engineering/performance (2 cylinders etc.,) or just because its priced 3L+ I haven't had the chance to ride much on faired bikes except for my brief time (~6 months) on Aprilia RS125 when I was in UK and hence didn't bother taking a test ride on R3. Do you recommend TD on R3? It's not that I hate faired bikes but since I've always been on naked bikes, I never actually had any interest in faired versions!

The confusion and debate got worse from one cylinder vs two cylinders to premium vs non-premium and naked vs faired!

Two more clarification from my end:

I spoke to three KTM showrooms here in Chennai, all of them have 2016 manufactured models (with ON/OFF switch) but not the 2016 edition (DRL etc) with the minor cosmetic changes. They say they will get them once the current stock are sold. Is it really worth going for a 2016 manufactured model or wait for 2016 edition? Having the on-off switch gives any advantage at all?

Also, Z250, I know is a good alternative for TNT300. Performance and maintenance wise is it really good? The cost of these two are almost similar. Z250 is 3.51 Lakhs on-road and TNT300 is 3.55 Lakhs on-road.

Can someone throw some light on these two points please? Thanks!

I'm in the same boat as you, but my desires picked up late... So I guess I'll be waiting till mid 2016 to try out cbr300 . Regarding duke, going for 2016 edition would be wise. I found the d390 very awesome, for the price point, though only a single seater. And the most updated version is something one should go for.

AFAIK, it's was just unveiled at Auto Expo but with no definite date of launch or what it would cost. I'm pretty sure it won't be launched in 2016 and even if it was, it would be priced more than TNT300!

In my current situation (and confusion), I'm thinking of going ahead with Duke 390 and upgrade to a SBK after 2-3 years. The Auto Expo 2016 was a very big let down!
