Re: Suggestions Required For 250+ CC and 3 Lakhs Budget!

UPDATE: Yes, the words in CAPS as I want to make this as my final update and announcing my final choice. After a month full of excitement (Bike Upgrade), confusion (Single vs Two Cylinders), dilemma (Benelli vs Yamaha vs KTM), anticipation (MT-03), disappointment (Auto Expo 2016), greed (Go for 600+ cc) and various forms of tortures to folks (xBhp, friends, family and showroom TDs), I finally zeroed down to Benelli TNT 300 (White) aka Calypso (yeah, choose a name too!) today. I had a dilemma (D390 vs TNT300) even when I stepped out to finalize my choice as both had an equal preference but I had to get his phase of decision making done today and I did with TNT 300!

I booked the bike today at 3:30 PM and I was told the delivery would happen on Thursday or Friday as the registration is planned for Wednesday. I was also given the opportunity to choose a bike from the batch of 12 TNT300 they received today. I had a dilemma again between Black vs White as both were equally good but I went with white for its elegance and classy look while the black had beastly look. The final choice towards TNT 300 over Duke 390 indeed was based on some of my preferences:

1) Comfort for both, main and pillion rider.
2) Lesser vibrations on medium to high speed.
3) Enjoyable long distance touring.
4) High-quality /premium build and finish.
5) Riding posture.

Is the 1.3L extra worth these points mentioned above? Maybe, maybe not! But, what really matters is what most xBhpians say and agree here --- go with what your heart feels or what revs your heart! Special thanks to @Shashank Suresh for those 100s of WhatsApp message I sent during late hours for which he patiently replied. Thanks everyone who participated in the thread by sharing your views.

And yea, here is my Calypso..

The new (MY2016) set of bikes arrived today, they are doing the PDI and RTO related formalities tomorrow. Registration is most likely on Wednesday or Thursday and committed date for delivery is Friday although I still can take it on the registration day itself!

I chuckled as I read this, knowing I might go through the exact same thing in the fairly distant future

Congrats on your bike! It's been an interesting thread to follow.

Congrats iVinay. I am in the same boat as you but I have 1 more month to decide. Also have a responsibility of selling my current ride before I find a new one.
Hopefully I will have few more choices.

Hey thanks for the advice. But no I don't have cash at hand, emi only [emoji4] .

What's keeping me from going for it right now is, I am hearing about cbr300r coming around April. Also Tornado300, hopefully with ABS. Since you know I am a sucker for faired bikes [emoji5]

Also what kind of discounts can I expect if I say ur name.

I was just kidding about the discounts

You will surely get discounts on the frame sliders , jackets and other accessories.

Tornado 302 will be coming to customers only next year. I have no clue about CBR300R as well.

Get the Ninja 300 if you love faired bikes.

Thanks Kannan. Selling my current ride was quick (thanks to Olx!). Even a month or two down the line, I don't think we will have many choices in ~300 CC segment. I went ahead with my choice because of this.

Discount? Seriously? I can bet they don't discount the price by Re.1

I don't think CBR300R is coming this year AFAIK. Tornado 302 will take 4-5 months and will be priced at N300 range at Rs.4.2 Lakhs -- I would suggest you go with N300 over Benelli at this cost. Just a suggestion though. Good luck!

If CB 250R comes with a 15L fuel tank and add LEDs(tail & indicators) it will be unbeatable in the segment.

It's single cylinder while TNT300 is parallel twin! Besides the brand name Honda, I don't see how it's better in every aspect? CBR250 is better contender for D200 or even D390 but not for TNT300 but that's just my view about it.
