It was scooter, hero puch with 2 gears and if you wanted something more powerful you had bikes...all these concepts are fairly new to people like us and that's why these forums are available so that we can bring ourselves up to speed...
I can understand. Honda is known for their engine refinement and thats exactly what you get if you go for CBR250R. The 250R is ridable in city traffic if you can position yourself properly on the seat. Its good value specially if you go for the ABS version. However according to your requirement, you are more of a commuter hence I dont recommend the 250R.

I test rode the TNT25 once so I cant say much about it. Its a good bike from what I could deduce.

    All the best!

But at this stage if you are confused between naked/faired and cruiser/commuter, you must know the characteristics of each.

My friend recently purchased a desert Storm 500, and he uses it for what he likes. High speed (100) touring, it looks good. Parked next to local panipuri wala, it looks good too. In fact, the panipuri stall vibrates whenever he starts the bike. 😸

Don't let someone closet you into different categories. What matters is, you shouldn't regret the purchase. As long as the bike isn't impractical, you should be fine with either naked/faired.

PS: I believe the bullets don't come with tubeless tyres. Can you check if the newer models have tubed or tubeless?
nope, not yet tubeless, as long as there are spoked wheels.

Hey if you want a CBR, but dont want 250cc just for city commute, you can consider CBR150. It comes in jazzier colours and has perfect power for city. Also the CBR 150 version has slightly different gear ratios making it a zippier bike! Its liquid cooled so you wont have to worry about bumper to bumper traffic, the engine will manage itself.

As apart if you really want a Bullet 500 and if Standard is what you like then go for it. It has all the power of 500 RE mill, but none of the issues as it still has a carburettor.

In bikes there is no right or wrong choice. If you can afford it and if it makes you happy, then thats your bike!

Thanks Rugved... Yes I have kind of finalized RE...... The next problem is whether standard 500 or Thunderbird 500...or...continental GT...with my budget I can afford any of the above... No 350cc... And no classic... With me it seems the confusion never ends...

well being a married man and wrong side of 30 and 6 feet tall forget the GT no matter how beautiful it may look,,,,, now between standard 500 and TB500,,,,,,

standard has a plus point comfort it is most comfortable RE without a doubt with slight bigger frame and more powerful light than TB 500,,,,,

but then TB500 has dual disk and exceptional handling, more bhp and torque bigger fuel tank but 2kgs more weight it is tailor made for taller blokes,,,,,,.brakes are very fantastic for new gen TB bikes i m using TB 500 fr myself after 50k usage of R15 and not missing the braking and handling of R15 at all trust me on that,,,,,,,,, besides i have read some one raising an issue on FI 500cc bikes that it is not as reliable as other digitally controlled bike ,,,but brother as far as i know the FI system of 500cc RE bikes are provided by same company which provides the FI to most talked and praised bike in this forum CBR250 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

one more point i want add just to clear ur mind that i bought a TB500 and rode to 28k in just 3 and half months trust me no issue no issue at all ,, the infamous punctures are also out of equation since the time i poured slime into the tubes of tyre,,,

then in the end what i feel biking is not about buying the perfect or ultimate bike it is all about buying a bike which u r passionate about and love to ride ,,, because truthfully speaking there is no such perfect bike ever built ,,,,,, there is always something missing so go where ur love for bike is taking u ,,trust me u will be happiest in the end ,, all the best,,,,,,,,,,

The deal is, all 500cc mills in RE (except STD500) have EFI, alongwith it, there are certain other sensors which feed it data related to bike's position, quality of air, etc, etc, etc. Given the current reputation of RE Service centres (and i say Reputation of Service centres, Not RE as a company, not the build quality and not as a product) many peoply have faced issues with 500cc version's fuel pump giving up, or the bike leaving the rider stranded if certain sensors die.

But, then we have fabulous examples, the likes of Mr. J.Ravi who have toured extensively and unbelievably on his TBTS500, i had messaged him personally to ask about bike and he gave me an honest opinion that its been running butter smooth without any issues.
When i used to stay in Pune, i befriended a gentleman who had CL500 and he too suggested that the bike has absolutely no Inherent issues, if you care for it, it will care for you back.
So was the opinion of a certain Mr.Alex (people from Pune may know, he is a well known mechanic for REs). So summing up, so far as many Individuals i have asked, Only RE Showroom guys have given bad reviews for 500 and asked me to stay away from it. all Owners whom i met in person too are rather pleased with it.

still if there's any doubt then STD500 is perfect choice, it has all the vintage glory as well as 500cc engine.

Towards the end i ended up buying TBTS350, but the only reason why i downgraded to 350 was, My Daily Commute is 104Kms, so i was sold to the Slightly higher Mileage prospect of 350.

And Why TBTS, well like i said in a similar thread, i am 6 feet tall and weigh Approx 95Kg, the STD and CL frame just doesn't look large enough with me riding/handling the bike. TBTS has larger tank, taller frame so it fits the bill, also it has slightly modern features like dual disc brakes, tachometer, LED Projection lamp, and slightly better build (which only means that all the cables are neatly tied to the frame so they don't interfere with or cause paint abrasions to, the bike.

The strongest competitors are pitted against each other in this case STANDARD 500 Vs TB 500... .. STD "BULLET" 500 has that Vintage Look ... whereas TB500 has the latest equipment, bigger tank, better brakes, better handling....Well I guess the only way to find out is to take a test ride of both these bikes...

Thanks to all of you who have helped me and provided valuable advice and guidance.

I am not sure how the Royal Enfield is a good bike in City? I for one feel it is very heavy.. and talking about turning radius.. the RE has similar CBR 250 (correct me if I am wrong).. any big bike when ridden for the first time will be difficult to ride in traffic/city.. After a couple of days/weeks, the rider will be comfortable..

I used to find it difficult when riding ZMR in traffic for the first 2 days.. after that, I can get out of any traffic quite easily but the RE is quite heavy.. Just a reality...

But yes, go with what your heart says

Re: Help Me Out - Bike Purchase

Its better not to buy the first batch of a motorcycle. The cs 400 has the duke engine in it, and that is geared for performance. It will be strangled in the city, you will regret buying it, trust me. My cbr behaves horribly if I don't spank her once a month with high speed riding. The throttle response slows, bike starts jerking. So I take her to the highways and let her sing, and she becomes smooth and obedient once again.

Hi all, got a call from mahindra 2 wheelers today.... Mojo is now available in Kolkata.. The OTR is around 1.95... I was called by the dealer for a first look... And man does it look huge!!! Honestly had no idea that mojo would be such a huge bike when you see it in flesh....bit on the heavier side...165 KGS.. I was told...I found the bike to be a little disproportionate between the front half & the rear half of the bike...huge pirelli tyres... The instrument console is a bit tiny when compared to the overall size of the bike...planning for a test ride of this bike on Saturday!!! But didn't appeal that much....the welded portions at various parts of the chassis were clearly visible....maybe because of the golden colour... Impressive but not sold on it....no disrespect to any mojo owner ..but the headlight assembly looks like an owl...the sales guy told me that they have modelled it on transformers.... Not sure though!!!

The mojo offers nothing better than the Honda CBR, except a 21 liter fuel tank. The extra horsepower and torque are only on paper.

Then you have the name and looks. The name mojo itself implies something wacky to me. And it looks weird. Not sensual like the CBR or sexy like the r15.

Yes that's true .. No major difference between CBR and mojo... As far as the looks Dept is concerned, well it varies from person to person.. As far as I am concerned... I found the styling of mojo to be a hit or a miss sort of style... People will either love it or hate it... For me, I think mahindra overdid the mojo in terms of styling...it could have been easily given a leaner & meaner look...which would have reduced the weight of the bike as well..
