I read you dont have any issues with your spine, hoping you are Ok with slightly sporty posture too.

R15-S or Fazer-Fi can be options as well. R15S being better on the top end and acceleration(performance) figures and Fazer fi more on seating comfort. Fazer can happpily cruise between 80 - 90 kmph while R15S is all happy till 110 all day.

Yamaha build quality, so no questions on durability.

Both bikes have phenomenally low NVH levels, hence they will not fatigue you even if you are abusing the engines.

Also I suggest you to wait for the Fz 200 or 250 whose spy images are being circulated on the internet recently.

Both the bikes does not have ABS.

Honda CBR 250 is a very potent tourer too, though I doubt it would fit your budget or not.

You already have bikes in stable ! Why don't you wait, save and go for R3. It serves/ticks all your requirements. Just a matter of budget. The way we save for house and marriage why cant save for a good bike, a partner at all times. The rides are best enjoyed when you tick all the boxes of your choice. Limit on budget will always compromise your dreams.

Hey Fullmoon, Just a piece of advice man, Wait for another 6 months stretch your Budget 2.5 or 3 you've got a whole lot of options for the Touring category your looking for From kawasaki Versys X 250, Yamaha Fazer 250, Suzuki Gsx 250 and also the adventure, duke 390, and ABS equipped CBR 250R and last but not least BMW GS310 or G310R. Man If I were you i would definitely Stretch it to this level and explore a whole lot in this category, provided my Better Half approves.

@mknaidu11-you made me think now! I do have a Unicorn and RE STD 350 (1987 model) with me. One can save money or go for a big loan,which my family would never allow. Spending 8 grands on car is logical for them. Spending 3 grands on a bike would make them feel bad. Frankly speaking I always do thinks as i wish.But I do need to consider.They are not wrong,what they say is you can have only two bikes,more than that would be overkill for a middle class guy like me. After seeing few accidents recently, I feel instead of saving money and investing the whole amount in getting a bike with high power, I need to save and invest money for riding gears like Top Quality Helmet,Jacket, Knee Guard, Elbow Guard , Gloves etc..

@AbiRam - waiting will increase my money,but my age also goes like that (i am already 34). God only knows when they will launchthe new models,they may take even one and half years to others. I plan to sell my Bullet for a good price and i could pay atleast half of the on road price of new bike as down payment. But leave all those worries.Just suggest any bikes which suit the purpose within the budget...

Test Ride Done : Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 & Bajaj Avenger Street 220,
From the Specs & Quote, I came to know, it has a detuned Pulsar 220 engine with reduced power (2bhp less) & reduced torque (2Nm less) than Existing Pulsar 220 and its Price is just 4,000 Rs. less than Pulsar 220. Avenger 220 (Both Variants) on road price is Rs. 1,02,000/- and Pulsar 220 at Rs. 1,06,000/- in chennai. First I test rode Avenger 220 street variant for some 2 km & then I rode Avenger 220 Cruise Variant for 5 km with a pillion. Even I sat as a pillion for 1 km to assess the pillion comfort, even though most of my rides would be solo.

Observations:
1) Even though detuned, initial pickup of engine is smooth & linear.
2) Handle bar ergonomics for long rides is better in Cruise Variant than Street Variant. Both comes with Electric start option only and switches doesn't look good.
Handle bars are provided with soft grip & weights on both ends.
3) Full Gear shifter, (don't know how to name it) with heel & toe shift provision is smooth & comfortable.
4) Handlebar Foot peg Geometry is one of its kind, and felt more comfortable.
5) could stay at 80-90 km/hour for hours. I only felt the speed, because the speedo & odo cable is disconnected (don't know why)
6) Basic difference between cruise & street is cruise is all bling bling, chrome everywhere and street with black plastics nicely styled with a matte paint finish, different handle bar & Black Alloy wheels, where cruise variant comes with Spoke wheels, Wind shield, Pillion rest as standard at same price with 4 kg more weight.
7) Wind shield doesn't feel functional like faired sports bikes.It is basically given for looks.I felt most of the wind gushing at helmet,just above windshield. pillion rest is really nice and even rear suspension & the narrow pillion seat is also comfortable.
8) Last but not least, The rider double padded seat is wow, It's a Sofa man, actually.. Blissfully one can ride for hours.

Only concern is the availability of tyre tube for the rear wheel tyre (in case of puncture).

Just Thinking...... if the same bike would have been mated with a Karizma Engine (old variant) It would be real fun...hmmmmm.....

My initial requirements in short
1) Reliable engine - need a reliable engine and don't want to get stranded in middle of nowhere
2) Power/Torque - suitable to ride at 80 to 100 km/hour for hours continuously and to overtake vehicles at 110 km/hr
3) Mileage full tank mileage - 300 km/at least 250 km required.
4) Suitable to mount luggage - tank bag (25 litre) or a backpack (35 litre) at pillion seat
5) Less Vibrations at cruising speed - at 80 to 100 km/ hour it should have tolerable vibrations

Bikes (not in the order of choice): Royal Enfield Bullet 500, Continental GT, Yamaha R15 S, Honda CBR 250R, Pulsar RS 200,Bajaj Avenger cruise 220, Bullet Std 350 UCE.

Buying Decision: ^st & 5^thBooked : Dominar 400 (ABS Variant)

Then I took a decision,which i never thought of.Dominar 400 was launched on 15 dec and 16 december midnight i booked it online (Booking Amount :9000/-) Took a test ride & felt good. But only ownership will reveal the truth.

Don't get let down by the niggles you'll be facing. Every manufacturer gets their parts by the lower bidder. It's like they use the first customers to find out exactly how cheap they can make the bike without the parts failing in the warranty period.

So they interact with the first lot customers, get feedback, offer some freebies, and then improve their bikes.

As of now 27 has been dispatched to that dealership, all 27 being ABS Version.would reach the dealership after festival holiday (Makar Sankranthi/Pongal)
