  • Best 150 segment bike ?

    Hi guys,

Soon I will buy my very first bike. It has to be 150-160cc segment.
    My height is 6'3.
So it has to be a bike suitable for my height. I was thinking of buying Gixxer, until I saw many reviews, where they said its uncomfortable for tall riders.
So, please suggest me a motorcycle.

    Thanks.

      How about Apache 160 4V?

Also please discuss your requirements and budget in detail.

Exactly same requirements and had the same built, ended up buying pulsar 180. Gixxer had the best engine out of everything I tested. You can try out the Apache 160 4v (i would recommend going for FI) or the pulsar 160 NS. My advice would be to go out take a couple of test rides and see what suits you, thats what I did. All the best

I too was going for P180 but now I'll be getting P220 soon. P180 makes a good proposition though.

To be honest, I was not even considering pulsar in the first place, it was just by stroke of luck that there was this Bajaj dealership nearby . I had made my mind for Apache RTR 180. I went inside the dealership and there was this army of brand new pulsars, thumbed the starter of one of them for just a few millisecond and the engine came to life instantly and the refinement levels astonished me. An hour later I booked one, Bajaj has definitely improved the Pulsar over the years.

Yes the refinement levels have improved over the years. Old P220 owners don't like the new P220 because of its refinement. They prefer the raw nature of the prev gen P220.

Go for Yamaha. Best bet in any scenario.

What service centers do you have have around you, that's the number one priority. Also, if you've driven any of 150 cc bike borrowed from friend/relative, that'd make it easier for you to decide. Other thing to be considered is spares pricing.

Some popular options would be Unicorn 150 which is smooth & commuter focused & Pulsar 150 comfortable & easy/cheap to maintain.

I would highly recommend the Yamaha SZ-RR. I owned one for 4 years and absolutely loved it. Very low on maintenance, just keep changing oil regularly and the bike will serve you without any trouble.
I guess the current version comes with fuel injection as standard, my experience is with the carb version.
Do give it a thought and go check out the bike.

If you are planning to upgrade the current purchase over a period of 4 or 5 yrs later, then I suggest you go with Bajaj 150 which IMHO offers the highest resale value in the pre-owned market.

If that's not in your deck of cards, then the Apache 160 4V is a beautiful bike to go with. However, the resale of either the Yamaha SZ-RR (If you choose to go with) or Apache 160 4V would suck big time post the 5 year period.
