Re: Confused with variants
Oh. Which dealership it is and which location?Originally posted by Neo77k View PostYou're right, the so called sales executives are not aware of the ABS rule and even made a bet with me that the motorcycles won't come with mandatory ABS. Ditched them altogether[emoji2]
My experience is in NP TVS, Madurai.
Here they said, ABS will be troublesome and few customers has faced issues with ABS and they are not ready to spend money in repairing ABS.
I think TVS must check every dealerships in the country and must recruit atleast 1 or 2 motorcycle enthusiasts in sales and service team.
They must be updating themselves about latest rules and info in motorcycle industry.
They should be able to educate the customers about the better machines and technology.
I love TVS products and I think as we Indians must support our homegrown local companies like Bajaj, TVS and Hero.
And I wish them to be equally grow as Japanese.
But TVS dealerships sucks. They are pushing commuter segment and don’t care about performance machines.
When RR310 was launched, I felt bad as no dealership was selected for Madurai, but now I think it was a good decision.
Now I made up my mind to go with Carb ABS and I’ll be booking one next week.
Thank you. When Life Throws You A Curve..

Re: Confused with variants
If there is a variant with both FI and ABS and your budget allows go for it. No problems with FI at all. Anyone saying FI gives problems should know that ABS is more complicated tech than FI and going by their logic should give even more problems.
If you have to choose between FI and ABS, always choose ABS. You won't even feel the need of a FI engine except for really cold days and if you travel frequently to high altitudes, where FI recalibrates the Air to Fuel mixture to suit the lack of oxygen. ABS on the other hand is a life saver and a must have.
Finally I found a thread for you regarding FI Vs Carb. Read the last 2 pages and you'll get all the answers you need. I too have contributed in that thred and you will find it helpful.
Happy bike hunting.

Re: Confused with variants
Mine was a dealership in Haryana. They did not even provide the RR310 here, for good reason I guess. The owner however knew about the ABS rule (thankfully)Originally posted by Harry J View PostOh. Which dealership it is and which location?

At first, I was comparing Carb vs FI.
Now, the comparison has been changed to ABS vs FI (Since RTR200 FI is not available with ABS).
I have made up my mind to make ABS as a must for me.
So Carb + ABS will be booked by next week.

Re: Confused with variants
Hey I'm sorry I may be adding to the confusion but isn't FI with ABS mandatory from April? The bike will come out soon if you can manage to wait a little longerOriginally posted by Harry J View PostThank you Zapps.
I'm referring to the ABS being mandatory for all their models so eventually the FI variant will also have to come with ABS

Re: Confused with variants
Yes it is mandatory. But, even we can’t see good number of Non abs FI still on roads.Originally posted by Neo77k View PostHey I'm sorry I may be adding to the confusion but isn't FI with ABS mandatory from April? The bike will come out soon if you can manage to wait a little longer

TVS is very slow in launching their products.
It was seen at the time of their RTR 200 launch itself.
They said about 9 variants at the time of launch and we saw that they were not able to deliver some variants soon. When Life Throws You A Curve..

Re: Confused with variants
While that is true, it's still mandatory by April. So there's just one month left and they will have to present it or risk halting sales. You don't wanna feel bad about it later getting an older model.Originally posted by Harry J View PostYes it is mandatory. But, even we can’t see good number of Non abs FI still on roads.

I'll tell you something funny I did before I got the RS200. Before I could cancel my Jawa42 booking, I checked the commercial with the 2019 models, the one that showed the new Dominar to ensure the video showed no changes to the RS, then I found a dealer in another city who had 2019 manufactured stock available, then I bought the bike when I was certain my vehicle model won't be old in a month. Then I cancelled the Jawa.
However at the end of the day it's your hard earned money and your decision.
Whatever you get, happy riding buddy. [emoji106] [emoji2]

Actually TVS made a good all rounder product RTR200 and I was much excited at the time of launch in 2016.Originally posted by Neo77k View PostWhile that is true, it's still mandatory by April. There were many variants and customers can choose they need.
But their implementation of the same was wrong. Most bookings of FI were either cancelled or changed to carb since they were not ready anytime sooner.
Then, after much waiting, they launched ABS and FI versions but not FI-ABS model.
So if I wait till April and if they delayed the launch of FI-ABS, then I will look for some other bikes due to frustration.
Just now, TVS sales person contacted me and informed there is an ABS-CARB model readily available in white color.
So I’ll check the bike first and will book the same. When Life Throws You A Curve..

There were 8 variants announced (or assumed based upon permutations and combinations)Originally posted by Harry J View PostActually TVS made a good all rounder product RTR200 and I was much excited at the time of launch in 2016.

1) Carb (base)
2) Carb+ABS
3) Carb+Pirelli
4) Carb+ABS+Pirelli
5) FI
6) FI+ABS
7) FI-Pirelli
8) FI+ABS+Pirelli
ABS costs 12-13k above the base price, FI costs 12-13k above the base price and Pirelli costed 6k (I'm not sure here..... it was somewhere between 5-8k) above the base price.
Pirelli variant was stopped with the launch of v2 (due to low demand probably)
So, the variant 8 will cost almost as much as a Duke 200, if it was sold today. This takes away the most important selling point of the bike, which is VFM. They can make it but no use in producing something that not even 0.5% of buyers will be buying.
