  • First bike (scooter); what kind?

Hey, all! I am new to the site and planning to buy my first bike -- a scooter, actually. I was hoping you all could give me some advice.

I am new to driving in India, so am looking for something safe and easy handling. I'd like something sporty AND with some power to it. I really like the look of the TVS Scooty Streak, but it doesn't seen to have much power like the Activa (which I really don't like the look of!).

One other consideration is whether it's better to have a lighter bike. Would that make it easier to handle, or make it less stable? I'm not sure...

Are there any other options? Or does the Scooty have more power than it seems?

To drive within city scooty is one of the best option. It has motorcycle like handling but has less top speed though its good at stop and go traffic. As an alternative you could also look at the Dio which has similar handling(better in some terms) but a lot more power, but is kind of bad at heavy stop and go traffic.

@Anusha: I'm not sure if you belong to the fairer sex, but if you do, you can consider the Hero Honda Pleasure as well..
Otherwise, guy or gal, the suzuki Access125 is also a good ride.. Heavier than Scooty though..

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

              TVS Scooty Streak. Period.
That is incase you are a gurl (the ID seems so).
Plus if this is your first two-wheeler, go for it. There are little (but important) features here and there that make the Streak the best first scooter for a girl. It might not be as quick as the likes of the Hondas or the Access, but hello - are you going to be a part of traffic light GPs?
Hit a TVS showroom, have a look and decide. If not the scooty, then there are a lot of other options out there

Suzuki Access can be driven both men and women ,Its not only meant for women.
Go for Suzuki access or the new activa!
                  How about bikes?

Suzuki Access anyday. I own one so can tell you that its the Best scoot in terms of comfort, Power, Fuel efficieny and above all reliability. The quality of the suzuki is miles ahead of its competitors, good build quality and is completely rattle free even after 1.5years of ownership and arnd 9K on the odo. The downside though is its plain jane looks and a not so impressive speedo cluster. All in all a very good scoot, will suit your requirements well. Good luck on your purchase.

@anusha : assuming you belong to fairer sex, I would suggest you Pleasure from Hero Honda. Low cost, decent mileage, free on road help (in city limits only), very easy access to svc station due to many svc stations of Hero Honda and some girls/ladies centric reward system (check out details) etc

For family use, Activa would be good buy, Access is ofcourse good but check out how far is the nearest svc station from your house ?

buy something Light and small as the bigger scooters Like Activa ,access would be a bit difficult to handle . See the Tvs scooty and the Hero honda pleasure

If you can handle a little more weight then go for the access or else go for the scooty.

Hey guys.. what are your ideas about the Bajaj Kristal? My Bhabhi (4'11") wanted 1 for her. Any inputs will be very valuable.

P.S.: Its her 1st scooter too.. so.. please think in that manner..
