dude...in no ways is the performance of the fazer less than any other bike in its category...now it may be that its not a mileage efficient bike but no1 can say it is a worthless investment....

TD the bike only then will you realize that your views are wrong...

he was mentioning about the bikes that fall in the same "Price" category.
that is comparing to P 220 or Karizma , fazer is way too under powered..
Take these bikes to a open highway and try to hit the topend .. you will know what we are talking..

No doubt that fazer as a bike is reliable and comfortable but in powerdepartement you cannot even compare it to p220 or ZMa which is avialable for same price tag.

please see the autocar india review of Fazer and P220...

They voted for the fazer as an all rounder...

Even many people buying r saying they dont need the kind of power the p220 has.. acc to autocar p220 has the power but is too heavy to handle...
they even say for the brilliant chassis that the fazer has they should have given slight more power....i agree..

I saw a Fazer yesterday&felt the pillion seat was miniscule! It gives the impression that only a child's rear can fit into it...or is it just the looks of it? Is it spacious&comfy enough? Maybe owners of FZ/Fazer/their pillions can comment on this!

the seat is ok...have done a triple seat once...was a necessity...not gr8...but certainly not as bad as described above.

FYI i have taken a TD of fazer.. and im talking only after riding it. after being used to p220, i felt it was too underpowered. give it an open stretch and it struggles like a one-legged man in a butt kicking competition

This is my 2nd post regarding 'What bike' (Since i am confused).

I am planning to take my first bike. Considered Fazer and Apache RTR fi 160. Read my post on both bikes in xbhp and across internet and finally confused.

But any cost i want to book my first ever bike within this week. I hope you guys help me.

I am totally impressed with Fazer. Almost every aspect. But little worried about city ride handling and mileage, in fact major factor making me thinking about Apache RTR 160 FI.

Please help me taking by bike.

                    Thanks In advance,
                    Pradeep
hey pradeep....i would suggest you to test ride and then decide.... i own a fazer.....and ride in chennai traffic in peak hours...it wont disappoint you in terms of ride quality, handling or comfort...but if you want mileage....better think twice...or thrice may be....before going for fazer....

dont know much about RTR though....my frnz tell me its a potent bike...and gr8 one too...

                    TD and the decide...

even a pulsar 220...jus for the initial bit nothin in the long run i agree....jus wanted to prove the point that the fz16 is a very powerful bike unlike ppls impression of it not being one....

                            Gimme a break dude.
Agree FZ 16 has a great low end torque but acceleration is incomparable to which bike? In its price range we have a RTR180 for eg. You think FZ 16 has a better accl than RTR180 leave alone the 220.

So you wanna compare a 150 cc 14 bhp bike to a 220 cc 21 ps bike and still have hopes of winning as you think acceleration is incomparable.
I dont know what point you would like to prove on fz16 being VERY POWERFUL bike with such comparisons.
What is good in a bike is good, dont make whats not good look like its too good
And you talk of LT reliability of a 220- well lets see what Fazer proves in LT which threadstarter has considered. There are enough 220 Fi's which have clocked 20-30k's of kms and still going fine.
Leave the unreliable 220- what about ZMA? Its more reliable and still a much better buy. It has proved its reliability over Fazer which is yet to do so.

Ride a FZ-16 or Fazer (better) and then just ride the RTR and 220 and see the diff and then talk of incomparable accl.

                              @thread starter

I too was under the same confusion like you. I've shortlisted RTR 180 and Fazer. But Fazer is Rs.80k+ onroad in Bangalore.
This point made me change that decision. (After all dressing-up the naked FZ16 is that costly)

Fazer doesn't have a crash guard , must feature for riding in India. If you fall down, you will be severely injured. The tank scoop (plastic) will get damaged severely. I think you are already a rider and know very well how we fell down when a bike falls.

I took a test drive of my friend's FZ16 , frankly I say the engine performance doesn't match with its looks. Go for the Fazer only for looks, if you want.

RTR 180 which is Rs.75k onroad Bangalore has more power and torque than Fazer. It has a cool digital console, rear disk etc. It is a much VFM bike.

BTW, already bought the RTR 180 and done 350km

what the hell does "VFM" mean!!!!!!!(just a bit impatient now.....is it "very fast motorcycle"???..........and regarding the choice.........i think the FAZER OR FZ-16 is the one to go with........YAMAHA>>>>>>>>>TVS.........reason enough to go for the FZ series.......and reliability + performance + torque + looks......and to those suggesting a 220 i think its not required if you are a city-rider......and there's no good 220 cc bike available from YAMAHA or HONDA.(my opinion.)
