Thanks for sharing your past experience Dr Sir. I am drooling when I read the line '70 paisa per litre'Originally posted by Dr.NandaKumar View PostHi Guys,
Let me share my experiense when I srarted riding in 1966. My Bike was Royal Enfield Bullet bought new for a princely sum of Rs.5500. The fuel cost at that time was 70 paisa per litre and a tank full cost me around Rs 10.
I was doing my House Surgeonsy at Stanley Medicals at Madras as it was known than. From that time onwards I have always traveled to my native place krishnagiri a distance of 250 kms only on my bike.
The roads were usually single lane but the traffic was very sparse and I could travel at 90 to 100 kms per hour . Petrol bunks were very few and you had to sure you had enough fuel to get you to your destination or else you had wait some kind hearted person to give you a lift as ther were few buses.
You did not have Dhabas where you can take a break. There were trees on both sides off the highway and sceenery was good . You rarely met fellow bikers on the road because as I said earlier buying a bike was only for the afluent. I used to cover the distance of 250 kms in about 4 hrs without any stop. Given the choise to choose riding in the 60's and present I will still prefer the good old days.
Now it is 70 rs(atleast in TN) per litre. just a slight change!

I really love to ride my motorcycle. When I want to just get away and be myself and clear my head, that's what I do - Kyle Chandler

Though it was a very short time arrangement...things went smooth & fine
Some pics from " Anokha 2012"

And a sudden surprise , I was asked to light the deepam, in front of the jubilant students

On the final day while returning back to our garage..saw this Monster near Ukkadam Tollgate
