Excited!!! my first xbhp trip.
Someone mentioned 27th on the thread , Im in for any dates other than 18-26 - gng out of the country.
1 day , 3 day all fine with me . looks like Munnar/thekkady .
The Munnar to thekkady stretch (theni route) is a beautiful drive btw.

Thats well over 300kms .. or we should stay over at munnar .... wont work as a one day ride ...
direct thekkady is 173 k ... will take arround 3 hrs ...

guys, sorry for being a silent reader of the thread till now..
True, we did nt get enough time to talk to each other. But the very short time we got there worked a lot. I felt so from the experience i had in xbhp online community after coming back. Atleast we got an idea of who is who........and the mistake then was mostly of KL guys......we chose wrong route..... But that s a fact you told......so i would like to refer kochu here. If we re going for an SI g2g we need 3 days.......1 day each for up and down journey and 1 day for a local group rie and get together....so it is something big for which we need better planning and joint discussions with ka and tn guys......

Personally i dislike the idea of 1 day g2g.....it ll result in a rush hour ride.........we ll ride to somwhere and ll return.......so it ll become useless, i think....so the point varun made above should be consiered........ idukki is not equi-distant.....bt a good selection for a get together.....

By this munnar-theni-thekkady, you mean the route from munnar->pooppara->theni->cumbum->kumily->thekkdy?
Its a good stretch. i agree.........but look, these guys re plannng for a 1day ride...... So come up and force these guys to spare 1 or 2 days......
Are you also the 1 day dreamer......if not, now tell something abt that we can do for 2 days.....

I'm also with Praveen in my dislike for a 1-day ride. anything less than 2-days will be a rushed affair and we'll miss out on opportunities to interact with everyone...

But then, considering the student majority, who are taking exams over the month, I suggest we push it to early Jan. The SI G2G can be done by Feb by when the rains will be over and we can utilize this one to discuss on locations and schedule before presenting it to the others....

there are so many guys which cannot ride up to 2 days(most probably students)Letz make a poll for a 1 day or 2 day,that will be a better option

This is what I was pointing to... At last something sensible...
Push it to January and make it at-least 2-3 days...

I was a student 4 years back, so I can give some neat ideas for students:

1.Industrial visit.
2.In plant training.
3.Symposium.
4.University Summit on Global warming and upcoming threats.
5.Short course on web technologies, Advanced Actionscripting .

Seriously, we all have had lots of one-day rides. By this G2G we are taking a step at something bigger - the South-India G2G. At the last G2G our friends from B'lore and Chennai has expressed their interest in the next such event to be in Kerala. And we do not want anyone other than us to plan and execute that right? So this is our first step, or say a rehearsal at that. And I dont think anyone is in a hurry. So lets first have the All Kerala G2G. Even if its a location we've been to before, we need to scale it up to a 2-3 day event. If things get too stale within ourselves (which I cant imagine) we can cut it short and return...

So, here is my suggestion:
Destination: Wayanad
Dates: First/Second weekend Jan 2011
Duration: 3 days
High Level Itinerary:
Day 1: Ride to Wayanad
Day 2: Local sight seeing rides, brain storming for SI G2G
Day 3: Return ride

Im in for 2 day and one day as long as 2 day ride is on a weekend .... and 1st week of jan seems cool .. what say peers ...?

99.99 % of guys of your age will keep their ride with them even if in college... These ideas are meant for normal people... You may require "advanced idea package"... subscription is chargeable as per basic tariff.

and about 3 day course... u will learn what u can learn in 3 days once u start working..

And most importantly, its good to see that your pants is still alright after stretching hard to 2 days.

By the way, when u got your R15? We are waiting for the treat..
