I m having exams from nxt wednesday,10th to 24th...and labs after that....so am out of everything till that... ...we can have a blast after that..
Gavi is one sure shot destination in my mind for the next monsoons....i was totally in love with that after seeing swaroop's pics after his trip with his collegues..

I'm going to take my annual leave for 7 days coming 15th Nov onwards... Any trips planned inbetween?! Or how about planning for trips during that time?!

gavi is within the forest check post limits. they don't allow bikers in(usually). it's also accessible from moozhiyaar- it's a wildlife reserve area. we frequent the tvm-ranni-angamoozhi-moozhiyar-gavi-periyar tiger reserve- vandiperiyar- tvm trip. 17-18 hrs by car if u drive slow(20-30kmph) inside the forest area; taking in the view. it's a road maintained by kseb(they have a few small dams there).
animal sightings are frequent. elephant density is on the higher side and if u r lucky, u may spot a herd of bisons.
if u r willing to trek from vandiperiyar(4hrs/overnight camping), the guide will be able to show u wild packs of dogs/foxes and if u r really lucky, u might even sight a few tigers.
riding through to gavi may not be possible. but u could ride up to vandiperiyaar and go on camping/trekking from there.

Hi all,

My name is Vinu, was in Kollam, kerala up till I was 10 years young. Eva since been out of the country , state etc and now settled in Hyderabad with parents. Been an active member in Hyd xbhp for quite some time now and would need tremendous help from kerala xbhp guys regard to the following :-

I am planning to do an extensive ride across all 14 districts of Kerala strating from Hyderabad. tentative date of starting is 20 November.

Plan is to start with kasargod and stay in every district atleast for a day if not more and explore the entire district and move on to the next one.

Obstacles on my way :-

I hardly know any one in kerala. been around 12 odd years since i visited the state last time.

- Please suggest me all possible routes along with distance to reach kasargod from bangalore.

- I would like to know xbhp kerala has active members from every district in kerala ?

- can members help/provide me with accommodation of any sort when i pass through their respective districts ?

- can members meet me and guide me as to places to visit , routes and other local info when i pass through their respective districts ?

- is anyone willing to ride with me around the district they are in. would be a great help and would really appreciate it.

- Can we have a g2g in cochin and tvm whnever am in the mentioned places. (i see that cochi and tvm xbhp is pretty active) Would like to meet all the active members

I already spoke to Binoy and lijo about the same and would be talking to Praveen from Cochin xbhp too.

Any kind of help regard to accomodation, meeting up, local info in person, is really appreciated. Riding along to local places will be just truly wonderful .


PS: I have a 220 and a r15. plz suggest the best bike for kerala road conditions. keeping in mind, not just the highways but district roads to as ill b venturing into internal parts of each districts too.

Guys like avin from blore can help you more in that regard. as he has done this route more than once.

There are members from most of the districts, nowadays i m seeing replies to many tourer posts from diff districts like thrissur, kottayam,kollam etc...There are active members in trivandrum,Kottayam,cochin,calicut.

Sure,why not ,thats what for this brotherly community is for !! We can assure you 2 full unforgettable days of sheer enjoyment

I m sure some cochin guys can ride with u to munnar ,athirapalli,etc, Praveen can ensure you dont miss a place in and around idukku,kottayam, We can ride to all exotic places near tvm, n kanyakumari

We are more than glad to .......What is your tentative date of reaching trivandrum acc to your plans now?(everything depends on that)

Looking at the road conditions in kerala, i would prefer 220, as it would be less stressful and the topography demands oodles of torque as most of the places are hilly. but some places like munnar, athirapalli , ponmudi, etc have excellent roads and u would miss R15 in those stretches .

@Tintu: I think it is not possible to ride Dhanush kodi on 13th...because heavy rain is every where. so what is your suggestion? I am not interested to do a long ride through bad weather. Because we can't enjoy the ride.

@A.J - true... my colleague in Ramanad (near to Rameshwaram) said that last week there was a cyclone warning there and fishermen advised not to go fishing n all... and following weather updates, it seems to be worsening only... (imd.gov.in)

hi guys.. i am back to the thread after some time now...just went through all the pages at a strech...glad to see many new members coming up and that tvm gang got another lime green monster in the stable.. i just entered into my training at mahindra & mahindra at nashik.. was back home for diwali..need to report back at mumbai on 12th..no chance of taking my bike along until i get confirmation about place of permanent posting which most probably will be chennai..bike has been resting in my garage for a month...now spending whatever time i get riding around... and it will be having another long rest after i leave...
