Seeing the names of all the confirmed riders, that old familiar pre tri state ride feeling is back. I'm sure some of the others wouldve done so already but anyways based on my lessons learnt from past rides, jotting down a couple of points for first time riders / old cronies who never improve

    1. If you need to get your bike checked, right now is when you should do it. Do not collect it back from service the day before the ride. If something has been missed out during the service, it could lead to multiple headaches for you during the ride.
    2. Pack and keep everything ready at least a day in advance. Try to avoid packing on the day of the ride as you will end up running around and searching for something that will invariably delay you and hence delay the start of the whole group.
    3. Keep a paper / sms / note on your smart phone with the list of items that you have carried with you when you started the ride. Helps a lot when you are packing before returning from the hotel.
    4. Make sure you know the start point / understand the way to the start point. It is better to leave your home early and be at the start point before time than to get delayed in traffic and holding up the group.
    5. Carry water / Gatorade / Red Bull / whatever rocks your boat with you. That way the group wont have to stop within 15 minutes of starting to buy these essentials.
    6. Ensure your papers are in order, they will be checked at the start. For the Wayanad ISG2G, we had to send back a member who had not renewed his bikes insurance.
    7. Always ride within your comfort level. The group will only ride as fast as its slowest rider (slow not being a negative term here). If you feel some discomfort / dehydrated / need a break, signal the group and pull over. Dont push yourself just to keep up with the group.
    8. Keep your phone charged sufficiently (both balance & battery) and have the list of contact details of your group with you.
    9. Dont forget to have fun!
Good one Mate. Hope everybody follows this yeah the ride start details and route plan will be posted shortly.

    Adding my point.
As a biker we should be aware of limitations of our machines and electronic equipments.

It will be nice to carry your business card and a short list of important contacts written in a paper. This will help if the phone gives up or the battery dries out while you attempting to find your destination on googlemap (This point is much more important for guys like me - THE SOLO RIDERS).

    @ Swas/Phanikar/Sriram/Praful,

When can I reach the earliest at the destination? I mean when will our organizing team reach Chika?
The Bangalore team would be the first to reach Chikmagalur, latest by lunch time. You have a PM.

As there are a few drop outs for the ride, we have few vacancies. Anybody interested(and had not registered earlier), please get in touch with your city/state leads. Its purely on first come first serve basis.

Amen to all. Hope the Almighty makes sure the rural KA guys' temperament is in good shape!

      Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

      THE END

No, that wasn't the thing. Just the general stuff, road rage, etc etc. This is common, especially as KAs are known to be TWO STROKER freaks. And us being lots of strokers, don't want to create unwanted attraction. Just wishing the good luck angle is with us all the way to and fro. Ungalukku thaan theriyumae! ;D

          Cheers!

That happens everywhere in every state. Its natural for junta to get excited when they see so many geared up bikers riding in a line.

Last time on the Munnar ISG2G return trip there was one guy trying to do some Yoga aasans while riding a discover parallel to us at almost 90-100 Kmph And this was somewhere around Namakkal!

I've seen happen everywhere from here in KA,TN,KL,MH to even in JK,PB,HP

We just have to handle this with a cool head, we are trying to ride safe and aware of evasive maneuvers, the common man isn't that skilled. Its best either to outrun such folks as a group or just stop to take a quick break. Trying "road rash" can have disastrous consequences.

EDIT: Looks like it might be a rainy ride Hope everyone is prepared for that.

                • In case anybody missed out on this part. Update ASAP as we need to give the homestay guys a confirmed number beforehand for food and accommodation.

I wish just someone would say exactly what you said just now. Praf as Praf does. And thanks for the nice geography lessons. Finally got to know the stuff.

Maybe I should have removed the "KA" in my previous post, and used "junta" as a thumb rule. Grrrr!!

@Sriram, don't worry. Be happy! Am cool!

                      This is Awesome!

In addition, Guys be sure to get the emission norms done for your vehicle. Get a pollution certificate especially the other state registered vehicle coz cops vet out scrupulously for vehicles apart from KA reg!

                      • Its gonna be a wet ride due to the cyclone... Please be prepared to ride in the rain... If it gets really nasty, stop at any of the fuel pumps, decrease the air pressure by a few psi for better grip... Unfortunately, I'll not be able to join this ride

Ride safe guys, long live biking !!!

Looks like this is going to be a repeat wayanad ISG2G in terms of climate. Everyone take extra plastic bags to cover stuff, ride carefully, smoothly

                          • Indian "Sandy" aka Nilam is pounding peninsular India. While that makes awesome weather to ride in, but it also increases the risks by a large margin.

Hope everyone is taking extra precautions to ensure this is an incident free ride like last time.

Riding in rain increases the amount of travel time, I hope the folks coming from far off have taken that into consideration and adjusted their schedules accordingly. The last thing you want is to be riding in the dark with no idea where you are headed to and add to that almost zero network coverage.

                            Few riding pointers :-

                            - Use your clear visor if you have one, rain drops and low visibility conditions make it difficult to see. Don't add to your woes with a tinted visor, the last thing you want to do is ride with an open visor in the rain.
                            - Maintain much larger gaps between bikes, braking distances increase for wet roads
                            - Try to stay as much away as possible from trucks/buses as they throw muck which will fall on your visor and hamper visibility
                            - Ziplock your phone/wallets and wrap everything else you are carrying plastic bags to ensure you have dry chaddis to wear when you reach there
                            - Visibility is going to be low so its best if you keep your headlights ON.
                            - Ensure that your tyres are not 'over-inflated'
                            - Use engine braking

Wish all you folks the best of luck. Ride Safe. A little bit more best of the luck for the KL boys who will have the toughest ride of all.

Phanikar:- I can give final count on Thursday if required.
