Post your query on the Bangalore offline meet threat, just in case anybody have space, you can tag along.

P.S: you still have a month's time to get your own bike, just a suggestion.

        • KL/TN Boys: Whats your ride plan like?

          Starting Time/Route/ETA at Chikmagalur/How many Groups/Etc

Keep in mind if you reach after dark it will get really difficult to reach the place of stay, since its a fairly small town and roads will get confusing. Plus network coverage might not be that great at certain places, so google maps, etc might not be the best bet to rely on.

I'd recommend that instead of reaching later, start earlier. Its much more easy to cover places you are familiar with in the dark i.e. considering that you will start 2-3AM types!

To add to the confusion road works are going on at some places. BSNL is the only network which will be available most of the places, the rest of the service providers fade after reaching the Kaimara Junction. Yeah, would strongly recommend what Praful said, leaving by 2-3 Am types. even if you reach early u can have some rest, than struggling to cut through the city in the dark.

            • How is the roads through wallajah-chittoor-kolar-Nelamangala? If we plan to have breakfast around Bangalore by 8-9 AM,should we be able to reach chikmagalur for lunch by 1 PM?

Would advise you folks to stick to the faster route, rather taking a shorter route which might take time.

I don't know the extent of construction work on the Krishnagiri route, but that has always been a faster route than the Chitoor route! So take a call.

No proper by passes to any of the towns that come enroute. Chittoor has a ring road which is horrible. Going through chittoor, as a group is again painful. Also the traffic generally chokes near the mulbagal checkpost, all thanks to truckers. There is high chances of people taking wrong turns and ending up nowhere.

So the advantage of the taking the Vaniyambadi-Hosur route:
1.Flyovers to most towns. even if some one miss the group. its easier to regroup in the next lay-bye.
2.Once you enter Bangalore you can take the NICE road and head straight to Nelamangala. which is one straight road. Do not take the elevated highway near E-city.
3.Decent enough places to have breakfast/lunch.

P.S: i know most of you guys know this, just a repost.

I just wanted to know if the road conditions of alternative/shorter route is good enough. Will exclude this route from considerations for this ride. Thanks

Where to ride? Chikmagalura? Yuvi...to ride to Chikmagalur side, take NICE...this means...Hosur road is way shorter. If you want to ride to Hyderabad, then take the Chitoor road.
