Hi there,

Nice to see you all here. Can you tell me what brand helmets and other stuff you get in Nepal? Any information on Jackets/gloves/knee guards would be of help. Also what bikes do you get to buy there apart from Indian origin. Any RX100?

It would be nice to know what's there across the border. Thanks.

You get most Indian bikes and a few Non descript Chinese make bikes there.. While I was there for Holiday back in 2007, I was riding on a hired YAMAHA Enticer. Riding through those himalyan roads there is a true expeirence and the terrain is quite challenging at places...

Any One From Nepal.

This is the greatest forum I ever found. Most of my questions are already solved. I am from Nepal and I am sure many riders from Nepal also view this website. May I know them?

Hi Sriram,
These days Index, Snell and Studds are famous and taking the almost whole market due to their cheap price. Jackets/gloves/knee guards are a bit expensive! Teku/Tripureswor which is located in Kathmandu is the only city that sells whole sort of bikes and accessories that are available in Nepal. Bikes available here are of Yamaha, Bajaj, Hero Honda, Honda, Hartford etc. Biking commune is emerging day after day!

Hello my fellow xBHPians from Nepal,

I, along with two other xBHPians, @Vykier and seahorses from Bangalore are planning to visit Nepal on 24th December to 26th December (an estimated time). Basically we three are going for a ride which starts from Gorakhpur in India, and then do a tour of Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh etc. Our route map consists of the below major places:

1. Butwal
2. Pokhara
3. Kathmandu
4. Damak

We would really be grateful to you guys if you provide your valuable inputs of places to cover/changes to the route. Also, if you could provide some guidance related to road conditions on this path, it would be really helpful for us. Last but not the least, we would really appreciate and welcome any riders who are willing to join us..we would be overwhelmed in that case

I am posting the map below as well:

There's another way in through West Nepal (Through Nepalgunj) which is pretty close to Lucknow. Now Lucknow being a major town is bound to have decent mechs who can get some basic things done in case there's some damage from the transportation. One of the worst things i've seen happen is a broken handlebar with my friend's bike and it was offloaded in a small town which prolonged his trip by 5 days in a godforsaken place that was never in the plans.

Anyway... just things to discuss and think about while planning.

The map looks good but I think we're getting stretched in the Far East bit in the end of the trip... Don't know if its feasible to do that much distance on mountain roads.

Cheers.

I know. remember i told you once while preparing the map that if we have time, then only we would cover the Far East..so that is upto our discretion . Nepalgunj seems pretty cool for me to enter. Guys..any suggestions?
