Anyone has any idea of customs if someone in UK sends me goods worth 16K+?Do parcels marked as gifts also liable to customs?

I have ordered till 14k INR, from riders discount and they send you things as a gift so i think till 14-15 k items you can order in one shipping.

You can also do something like club one order of 10 k and other order of another 10 k.

By the way what are you ordering and from where ?

yes currently only items upto 10k value are eligible for customs free gift.

Case One -
If your parcel is sent via Royal mail - it will be connected with our Speed Post. The parcel will get held up at Mumbai Airport customs ( next to Santa Cruz airport ) and you will be called to clear it. You will hear a record that will say that there is no exemption and
- as you do not have an import licence, there will be duty and penalty and a compounding fee levied totalling to the purchase amount or even more.
- if you do not agree with this , you can approach the Asst Commissioner who is situated in another part of Central Mumbai.
- the formalities will take a few days.
So, your response will be - I have come from Pune and need to take my stuff away .
You will then strike a deal and pay some speed money on the side. You will get an assessment order that will mention that your goods are exempt and nil duty is levied.
However, you will not be given posession of the parcel - for this you will have to take permission of another speed post authority who will or will not sanction this , depending upon his mood. If he does not sanction , then the parcel will come to you after a few days and again you will pay the Pune octroi on it.
Case two-
If your parcel is sent via DHL or Fed Ex , you will have to pay the customs duty , no exemptions. You will receive the parcel in Pune after octroi and payment of the courier chargs for custom clearance. Every year I pay duty and octroi on a BMW Motorrad callendar - no exemptions.

So, be warned and choose the option .

Dear Rishabh,
Riding was a bit on the lean side as was busy in organising an international tennis tournament at the Deccan gymkhana. Ladies from Russia, Serbia, Japan, Thailand, USA and 15 other nationalities were participating and so the bike was replaced by babes....
Last week riding recommenced as helped out the Aprillia dealer to move his bikes ( the Dorsoduro, the Tuono, the RSV 4 factory and the Mana) from the showroom to the Symbiosis Institute's Annual fest .
In any case, I do follow the Pune X BHP thread with great interest - I enjoy the fellowship that flows and also the ride-out reports with the photos.

Off Roading...!!! No man, the roads were so 'good' that made Punit ride his GT at 15-20 kmph with a lotta exercise and massage.

Actually theres a case 3 where you can ship it as gift, and have thier value under 15k (or was it 25k) and they reach to mumbai like in point 1, and then is delievered to you without any duty. (individual imports have exemption uptill 15 or 25k IIRC

What's the point? Blood group is mentioned in the driver's license & if you are driving without one, then rather you should not get any blood just kidding & no one will carry the motorcycle to the hospital.
Will check out the print when we meet or else post it on FB, hope it is creative...something like: Need Blood? I'm always O+ve!

I completely know its present on my Driving License.
Here is a scenario that took place in my life after which I prefer the sticker on Helmet and bike and even on my work bag.

I have seen wallets, watches, and valuables being stolen away right after the accident has taken place.
One of the accidents dating back in 2010 near Pashan Sus road happened with me, my bad luck the six seater guy just came in between where i had to change the lane but missed by inches.
Upon the fall all i remember cuts and bruises with my wallet, watch and cell phone missing. This was the closest one where i could walk back after regaining senses...

Think where the person has lost blood and his wallet and other blood group written information tags are lost or stolen in a crash... People are worst on the highways... They just dont bother, i remember today morning i had posted regarding after effects of accidents...

The worst are night accidents taking place on highways...

The blood group sign works for me about others its upto them...

Dog tags is also an other alternative to this...

The print is white radium based which illuminates after light has been directed towards it. Got it made from a printing shop for Rs50 both sided.
