For gifts the amount is 10K,right?Or is it 25K as satyen said?

    Cheers.
Its 10k for import through post/courier or parcel. 25k is a duty free limit for passengers arriving and getting imported items in their baggage.
If you order 16k worth items then you will get a deduction of 10k from it and on the remaining 6k you will have to pay duty. Also the customs act mentions that it should be a bonafide gift. If the customs dept feels its not a bonafide gift then they will ask you a horde of questions until they release the items.
The person sending you a gift from abroad has to fill a customs declaration form and attach it to the parcel and also declare it as a gift to you in the form. Also make sure the original receipt of the items is also there with the parcel or the customs dept might take it upon themselves to deduce the value which might be higher. The rates are available on the internet but they might be old one's . Our great Govt does not update everything on their official sites.

Very True- "Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity."

I like- "Bikes are not supposed to be a rational decision. If you can park it and walk away without looking back to admire it, you got the wrong one."

A good feature if you are on the road 24/7 using highways and city roads...

Fellow bikers can adopt the same if they feel the need...
I have another idea. It comes from the practice we follow in field maneuvers - of dog tags.

These quasi-military dog tags are available at numerous places - Archies gallery at Deccan, Hong Kong Lane etc. Just etch the following details on the tags, hang them from the neck and be assured in the knowledge that if one is knocked out cold due to any incident ( including heavy "elbow-bending"), life-saving information is available immediately on the person of the affected party:

      a) Name, b) Blood group, c) allergy classification, d) known health issues - the last two in brief, telegraphic lingo to fit on to the tag.

      c) Name, fone, relation & location of NOK.

Added to this is the blood group on the helmet, rather than the fairing.

Also, a contact named "EMERGENCY" on the cell fone with numbers, details as per above.

All this may seem too wimpy, but then, fractions separate life and death or worse, incapacitation...

      • Hi,
Not too wimpy at all. Actually I found it very useful apart from what printing blood group. I carried always one while travelling in US & Aus. Rather etching I'll get it embossed / punched. I saw this helmet with Road Shakers having a blood group printed on it.
        Regards,

          +1.

All that what i wanted to say and add. The bike stickering was just a start up towards all the points mentioned above.

Personal Opinion : To print BG is useless on anything that has strong possibility of being taken away after a crash. As for dog tags, it's just Metal of no value.
