The Official Pune Offline Meet(G2G) Thread

I went to Hyderabad a couple of months back. The Pune-Solapur stretch took about 4.5 hours. The 4 laning work was underway and so we had to take continuous deviations. Also, due to the work, utter confusion prevailed, and there was traffic travelling in both directions in both lanes of the road! We ran into the contract engineer in charge of the road work in a restaurant in Solapur, and he said the work should be done in 6 months time. So, after that i guess things should be ok for most part. There will still be some parts that are only single-lane.
Also, I have no idea about the Solapur-Latur stretch, but i guess that 130 km should easily take 2.5 hours at least. So total Latur-Solapur-Pune time could be 2.5+4.5 = 7 hours.

Any idea about the Pune to Panaji route? That too is an option, though a trifle unlikely.

The highway till the turn-off for Ajra is excellent but after that, I don't know as it has been years since I went to Goa.

Hi Manish,
I had been to Goa this month on bike. We covered 2 routes. While going we went Via Nipani-Sawantwadi-Goa. This route is in great condition. There is a short 10 kms pothole filled road just after you take the right turn after Nipani towards Sawantwadi. After that the roads were great. Even Amboli was in a great condition.
While returning we took the Belgaum route. These roads had a mix of bad and good roads. But riding through dense forest from Ponda till Khanapur was amazing.

Kolhapur Ride - 13-10-2012 Saturday

I'm visiting the Mahalaxmi Temple this Saturday, others can join if interested. Main point of the ride is to visit and take blessings, this will take 30-45mins, So till I'm done you guys can check out other places or join me for prayers. The route is in good conditions except few patches on NH-4 and inside city. We would be hitting back Pune around 3 or 4pm max. Planning to visit a very small sanctuary and New Palace and Museum (the food section out here is authentic kolhapuri thats why), if not that then enroute back we can halt for lunch (Compulsory). The Palace is a quite place and has the culture of Kolhapur present. Please see the map attached in the post.

Meeting time - 6am

e. PUC Certificate: A valid PUC certificate; especially if touring along with the group to pollution sensitive/monitored areas.

Safety Gear
a. Helmet: Has to be in good condition and preferably ISI/DOT certified
b. Thick Jacket/Riding Jacket: Must have inbuilt armour or external armour is also allowed
c. Gloves: Must cover vital points like knuckles and wrist. Cut/half gloves not allowed
d. Knee Guards: Either bionic or regular flex type. Should be worn inside trousers if non bionic.
e. Riding Boots/Sports Shoes/Army Boots: Anything that covers the foot well.
f. There is nothing that can better the protection of a full leather suit (if affordable). The preferred and most recommended piece of protection that your money can buy. Not compulsory though.

NOTE: Any member found flouting the rules will be warned once before being banned permanently


Please fill up Air and Fuel the previous day for the ride. We wont be stopping unless there is an emergency. (GT007)

Our ride started at 5.30 in the evening on Saturday so we had to take a halt at Karad at around 8pm. Next day we started at 7 am and reached Calangute at about 1.30 pm. While returning we stated at 7 am and reached home at 7 pm. Our travelling times are in no way suggestive of how much time you would take. I had a friend on a Pulsar 150 2002 model who was completely new to rides. He had never done a ride above 100 kms before. His bike could manage 60 -70kmph consistently for most part of the ride. Very seldom did he cross 80 kmph. Also we took a lot of butt breaks. But the Nipani route is the quicker of the 2 and a good one.

You can also go to Century TVS service center at Pune Satara road near Swarget. I use to do my RTR 160 service. Its located at Parvati Industrial area. Talk to Mr. Ram there. The guys are efficient & you can personally stay & see the service.
