Yes..i did buy somethings! You can ask Nathan for combined shipping charges if you are buying more items and that will be around 30-45 depending on the number and the weight of the items. There are no extra charges and the payment is through paypal, so its pretty much safe. The only trouble is passing through the customs. Depends on your luck! If they do, then you have to pay the post office around 35% of the value of your goods when you collect the same.http://www.californiasuperbikeschoolindia.blogspot.com

I'm visiting the Mahalaxmi Temple this Saturday, others can join if interested. Main point of the ride is to visit and take blessings, this will take 30-45mins, So till I'm done you guys can check out other places or join me for prayers. The route is in good conditions except few patches on NH-4 and inside city. We would be hitting back Pune around 3 or 4pm max. Planning to visit a very small sanctuary and New Palace and Museum (the food section out here is authentic kolhapuri thats why), if not that then enroute back we can halt for lunch (Compulsory). The Palace is a quite place and has the culture of Kolhapur present. Please see the map attached in the post.

Last evening, I went for a headlight check ride. About 40 kms return trip on the Rajkot - Jamnagar highway.
I confirmed what I had suspected for long - the power, reach and spread of the high beam is completely inadequate for high speed riding on the highway where there are no streetlights . I tried adjusting the beam for elevation and depression but the bulb just does not have the raw power to light up the road ahead in a way that would make 80 kmph+ riding FEEL safe.
In commuter riding within the city, it is more than enough but clearly not designed for the highway.
Can any of us help me here? The best solution would be a simple replacement type arrangement. I will NOT do any cutting etc of the mounting plate and what not.

@Maneesh Sirjee, The trick for high beam is to set up the beam exactly parallel to the road surface in front. Any higher, and you will blind the oncoming traffic and any lower, you will not get enough illumination ahead. Even if you do not get too much light on the road surface in this configuration, you can sharply see unlit obstacles, if any, on the road ahead due to the angle of your beam. Most of my solo rides start in the dead of the night and thats how my lights are set up.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

That is how I have been adjusting headlights on all my two and four wheelers over the years, with one small, critical twist in the interests of my safety. I elevate the high beam to about 1 foot above parallel of the road. This way, I see the road ahead in full glory PLUS it hits the oncoming traffic right in the eyes for those crucial seconds when the pain of constricting irises strained beyond their ability to do so any further motivates driver of said oncoming traffic to dip HIS beams rather than forcing ME to dip MY beams. The moment he flashes (his headlight beams, you dirty boy), I dip mine too so that the moment we pass each other, we are back to highs and cruising at triple digits. By this tech, I engender mutual respect for each other. Something on the lines of the Cold War MAD.
I taught my drivers in the Mech Transport Platoon to do this and then they were very happy during long convoy duties. The correct way for headlight adjustment is actually left slightly higher and left and right slightly lower, something similar to the eyes that some cartoon characters make in Ninja Hattori and Shaun The Sheep
The 1998 Zen VXi - Junked the stock 60/55 bulbs and put in 100/90s with special heavy duty wiring and relays.
The 2003 Indigo Diesel - ditto, just uprated to 110/100s
The 2010 Dzire Diesel - dittoo. All the above jobs were done by Bafna Autos, Ghole Road. Oversmart, expensive, upstart name-dropper but does a good job.
The issue is that no matter how precisely I adjust the elevation/depression on the CBR (and the bevel gear adjustment mech does allow quite fine adjustments), the sheer power is lacking for ME as I am used to 100/90s or 110/100s for what, 14 years now. And as my wife drives at night too, she has also got used to the battery guzzling white swathe of light, illuminating the road for the better part of 150 mts ahead.
So, I correct myself here by saying that the CBR's bulb is fine; it is that MY personal requirements demand higher luminescence. Do you have any recommendations about the change?

This is exactly how Bajaj Sets up P220 high beam. And I liked it that way since I could keep getting respect from NH3 Truckers. But then after my accident, the replacement Fairing and H/L setup that the SVC installed was set up a bit lower. When I used it more and more, I realized that most truckers aren't all that disrespectful and given the height that the headlight is mounted on a bike, its still high enough to remind the small hatchback and sedan waalas that even I can *almost-blind* them. So this setup also worked alright for me.Originally posted by icemang View PostAnant,

What you need is a 35w/55w H4 HID. It will be pricey, but it won't overload the electricals or discharge battery or anything of that sort so it eventually works out cheaper (since you don't ruin your vehicle's electricals and hence its reliability). The illumination from the 35w HID is noticeably higher than your regular 55w stock halogen bulb so I need not say anything more about the 55w HIDs.
There is a member called Navnish from Bangalore who can provide you what you want as per your requirement. Many people here have bought HIDs (Sharan, Shrinath are people who come to mind) from him.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
