Deprived of sleep and with absolutely no food in my system, I then found myself trying to qualify in the R15 one-make novice category. There were over 76 riders competing for the top 15 slots. To make matters worse, I crashed during my second qualifying lap at C11. Picked up the bike, to find the clutch lever broken and the right footrest missing. But rode it nonetheless in a desperate attempt to qualify. Lack of energy and the crash made it next to impossible to concentrate and I ran wide on C2 on the next lap and then trailed a slow yet suicidal rider for most of last lap who was "racing" with me in the qualifying round.Yet, somehow managed to clock the 14th fastest timing and booked a place for myself in the two races.

My first race, saw me make the common mistake of a rookie. I got a decent start but stuck to a defensive line for the first 3 laps to protect the positions I had gained. This proved to be a costly error as I lost valuable time and didn't have enough ground left to catch up with the front group in the 6 Lap race, run on the short loop. So at the end of Race 1, I had made up 5 positions and finished in 9th place.

For the second race, I decided to go on with my normal racing line and the move worked well, as I was able to keep up with the front group. But two wrong gear shifts in the long sweeping corners in the penultimate lap left me trailing the pack by a second or two and finish the curtailed-5-lap race in 5th position after starting from 14th on the grid.

To be honest, I was quite disappointed with myself at the end of the second race as I was in a good position to challenge the top 4 riders before giving it away. But this is racing and this was only my second attempt. There is a lot for me to learn and hopefully I'll qualify better in the next round to have a more realistic shot at the podium.

At the same time, I was proud to be the only rider from Maharashtra to qualify and feature in the top 10 positions in the R15 novice category. I want to thank you all for your support and well wishes. It means the world to me and I hope I can make you proud in the upcoming races.
First of all Sagar..congratulations..Man you made up 9 places in a race..Awesome dude!!!...(Sounds of Claps)

45 kg riders??? Who are they?

Deprived of sleep and food in hot and humid conditions is one of the worst possible responsibilites you could take up on..Your eye lids keep drooping and you wouldnt even know it.

I was proud to be the only rider from Maharashtra to qualify ... Congrats here again..
Just keep wondering why there is no race course in Pune despite being the automobile hub

Believe that if you had a better sleep ..you could have ended up on the podium!!

Holy words ! Especially since we get a lot of flak for doing whatever we do and some just outrightly blame us for being unsafe on the roads and indulging ourselves in nothing but posing.

You indeed proved that what we do at Pune aint stupid shit and you were our best bet to do that.

        Whens the next race ?

                @Sagar:

I have absolutely no experience with Racing etc, so I cannot even begin to imagine what it must have been like to go out on the track without sleep and without food, and even after crashing, you still qualified!!! That part just blew my mind, boss!

Seeing as this was one of your initial attempts at racing, I can only say that you will rock the tracks in the near future, especially when you would be 100% racefit.

                Congrats for the effort !

                Cheers

ya, and i could barely see the road, because of rain + poor night visibility (because of rains) , and add to that, my tinted visor

@Tenhut- Next race is on the first weekend of July.
@Rohit- We can defi meet tonight. But can we please meet at MotoCafe? I know it is really far some of you but I really need to get back home early tonight. So if the meet is at MotoCafe, I'll be able to stay back a little longer as it is closer to my house. Please let me know if this is possible.

Vimannagar to MotoCafe is like Pune to LA...you need a visa.
Too much traffic and a ride on some of the most traffic prone areas...
Please make it someplace else for today!
