Doood ! Like we spoke on the phone...you cant do shit on the track if you havent slept nor eaten. I used to have a wholesome 10 hours sleep for CSS and yet I found myself lacking in concentration and shooting the corners to oblivion. I am only crying out so loud because I know what it must have meant to have slept only for 3 hrs and then to be on the track to qualify lol.
This is how I see it..
70 riders and you finished your second race 5th.
You were on the track for the first time racing those *****es and coming 5th in a race which lasted only 5laps means you jumped 9 positions. Which means you overtook 2 riders every lap for all the 5 laps and doing that on an R15 aint easy. You can only do that if you are getting your lines right since there isnt a lot of horses which will help you do it. So Cheers mate !
    Celebrate this fine achievement.

If it rains which in all probability it will & you won't be having tents than just visit the nursery/small scale production house up there.{kashif knows the place} run by gondhlekar guruji.
tell my reference & you can stay there for the night.

Started my racing career in the worst possible way. A two hour flight delay saw me reaching Chennai at 3:00am on Friday morning and land up in my hotel bed at 4:00am only to get up 3 hrs later to make it to the track in time. Then missed out on my lunch as the food van had already left by the time my 80kg frame, wearing a black racing suit, was done competing in vain with 45kg riders in the twister cup in 55 degrees Celsius.

Deprived of sleep and with absolutely no food in my system, I then found myself trying to qualify in the R15 one-make novice category. There were over 76 riders competing for the top 15 slots. To make matters worse, I crashed during my second qualifying lap at C11. Picked up the bike, to find the clutch lever broken and the right footrest missing. But rode it nonetheless in a desperate attempt to qualify. Lack of energy and the crash made it next to impossible to concentrate and I ran wide on C2 on the next lap and then trailed a slow yet suicidal rider for most of last lap who was "racing" with me in the qualifying round.Yet, somehow managed to clock the 14th fastest timing and booked a place for myself in the two races.

My first race, saw me make the common mistake of a rookie. I got a decent start but stuck to a defensive line for the first 3 laps to protect the positions I had gained. This proved to be a costly error as I lost valuable time and didn't have enough ground left to catch up with the front group in the 6 Lap race, run on the short loop. So at the end of Race 1, I had made up 5 positions and finished in 9th place.

For the second race, I decided to go on with my normal racing line and the move worked well, as I was able to keep up with the front group. But two wrong gear shifts in the long sweeping corners in the penultimate lap left me trailing the pack by a second or two and finish the curtailed-5-lap race in 5th position after starting from 14th on the grid.

To be honest, I was quite disappointed with myself at the end of the second race as I was in a good position to challenge the top 4 riders before giving it away. But this is racing and this was only my second attempt. There is a lot for me to learn and hopefully I'll qualify better in the next round to have a more realistic shot at the podium.

At the same time, I was proud to be the only rider from Maharashtra to qualify and feature in the top 10 positions in the R15 novice category. I want to thank you all for your support and well wishes. It means the world to me and I hope I can make you proud in the upcoming races.
I cannot congratulate you more for this fine achievement. You have done much more than making up places. You have vindicated that what we do here at Pune is correct.
Regarding the 9th place in Race 1, well...thoda baki logo ko jeetne ka chance to dena padega...
This is just the beginning...the real celebratory news is yet to come!!!
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

                        @SAGAR46

So both guys with 46 number on their bike crashed this weekend during their respective qualifiers huh? One in Chennai and other in Italy!

Ok, Sagar, I think you are being very modest to judge your performance. I dont want to repeat the stats that TenHut has mentioned and I think its a great great acheivement to begin with. I understand that being a very good rider you want to be amongst the top slot but hey its just about time you know

Heartiest congratulations..and lets meet up to hear it all from the horses mouth
                        To each his own karma!
