My point was why do we wait to organize a HELMET AWARENESS ride? why not take one day a week and stand at a particular pre-decided chowk/signal and spread the word? i guess even if 5 members do it regularly... it will be more effective than a single AWARENESS RIDE... and yes we can always organize such rides when permitted....

and I believe that if we continue this for 2-3 months then we are bound to draw attention from the media as well.

Me and other xBHP Nasik members had done a Ride Safe presentation in MGV Dental College Nasik.. But that sort of events requires "andar ka aadmi"..

Agreed.. I could arrange for that in COEP.. What about other colleges?

Also.. When Roadshakers does it, thats their Tashan! When xBHP does it, its Public Nuisance?

Challenge is actually getting the required time from members. Rally every week is really pointless and not doable in our current member strength. (In my opinion)

For a rally to start, you need at least 10-15 guys. Looking at current promptness of members, if you schedule a rally at 8 pm, you will be lucky to see guys by 10. Then everyone will have dinner and later on will postpone the rally to next time.

I agree with what vishwas said, but on the other side lets do it this way we wait till 8.30 and start the rally and reach at point B which is 5/10 km from our starting point so people who are reaching late will reach directly at the second point.

EDIT : we can decide to meet at point A where we can ask 5 or 10 members to be there on the given point at the given point without any excuses and start the rally, those who want to join will have to reach early, and this will be changing every time.

very true Vishwas.... I dont expect all to come...
we just want to promote xBhp as a Biking community who preaches and follows SAFE riding practices... so cant we have 5-6 members every week who can give an hour to spread the word....

Please define what your aim is - Draw attention from media or make public aware? Both require different kind of activities.

i still have banners from last awareness ride.we can modify them and just hang it safely on jackets/bikes at each ride like this. bigger stickers with message can be made to paste at each venue we visit.

@everyone : lets not make it so formal with tight schedule and strict plan. lets absorb it in Xbhp lifystyle. like hanging banner each time we ride or the stickers. only those who want to follow safety will follow either by either we running planned rides campaigns or just by seeing that hanging banner so why not do it the convenient way. those who don't care are never going to follow safety.

Description
Riding runs in the blood of Roadshakers. We exhibit our love for biking and promote a healthy biking culture in the city by the means of weekly city rides. These rides form the basis of recruitment of new members into the club, and also act as occasions for discussion and bonding between current members.

How hard could that be to implement? Chuck the weekday ride then.. We could all ride on Sunday night.. Around the time the Touring party returns.. Or Saturday will be a even better day for a group ride.. Just look at the Saturday G2G (Re-Intro) turnout!

we can draw attention from media by making people aware... that is why i m taking 2-3 or make it 6 months as the time-frame... as of making public aware... i believe many of us do it on an individual level.. so why not join hands and do small bits here and there....

the moto of the ride is not to RIDE....its jus publicity.... we have the poster... or else we cab get another poster of xBhp printed and the hang it in any of our parked bikes while we munch on to the momos and yack about our rides....

this is what we had talked about and we wanted to share it so that senior members can enlighten us about the feasibility and all...

Again the same question I am asking..... you may think that I am dumb but I seriously want to know what exactly you want to achieve.

Since I know a bit about events, promotions etc., I am giving a brief flow chart of how any activity is to be finalised.

1. First decide the end result you wish to achieve.
2. Once one single objective is identified and agreed on, have a look at the available resources, time-frame, budget etc. and
3. Then you can think about the activity which would serve you best.

Here we are talking about activity first. Doing things piecemeal does not serve any purpose and wastes precious manpower. I strongly suggest that we should first finalise the objective we wish to achieve and decide on the activity.

Just because we have certain ingredients does not mean it would serve any purpose. If you have eggs and colouring pens, you can certainly paint those eggs but that activity can't contribute towards satisfying your hunger (for which you bought eggs in the first place).

For IT guys, the process is -

1. Identify client requirements
2. Identify available resources and timeframe
3. Decide on the best way of achieving your targets.

You can't start writing a program without clear defination about what the program is supposed to achieve.

Guys, this is not sarcasm but reality. I am all for any initiative but it has to serve the purpose defined.

Lastly, when we say, we have a poster. It dosen't mean much. We have several guys who can prepare a decent design and cost of A3 size poster is max. Rs.20/- so this is not a major asset that we have.

If you guys want, I can give a brief 10 minute lecture on how any activity is designed in the next G2G. This is not a threat to stop you from coming for G2G.

if we need publicity in a day then we need to organize a large ride as done earlier by wheelieboy.... but i guess that will take some efforts....

my point here was tht we can spread awareness on a small scale... yes the major issue is awareness here.... bit by bit....

and I THINK that if we can sustain this for a long period we will get the recognition/ publicity we want.

but yesh the major moto is awareness...
and thats why i am seeking opinion of senior members like you... about the feasibility and all....

I wanted that there was awareness about xBHP in general.. Bigger the group.. the better.. Helmet awareness is a by-product. More and more members can make many more Helmet-Aware.. Chain Reaction kinda effect.
