If you wish, I can give contact details of all big colleges in Maharashtra.

Challenge is actually getting the required time from members. Rally every week is really pointless and not doable in our current member strength. (In my opinion)

For a rally to start, you need at least 10-15 guys. Looking at current promptness of members, if you schedule a rally at 8 pm, you will be lucky to see guys by 10. Then everyone will have dinner and later on will postpone the rally to next time.

Since I know a bit about events, promotions etc., I am giving a brief flow chart of how any activity is to be finalised.

      1. First decide the end result you wish to achieve.
      2. Once one single objective is identified and agreed on, have a look at the available resources, time-frame, budget etc. and
      3. Then you can think about the activity which would serve you best.

Here we are talking about activity first. Doing things piecemeal does not serve any purpose and wastes precious manpower. I strongly suggest that we should first finalise the objective we wish to achieve and decide on the activity.

Just because we have certain ingredients does not mean it would serve any purpose. If you have eggs and colouring pens, you can certainly paint those eggs but that activity can't contribute towards satisfying your hunger (for which you bought eggs in the first place).

For IT guys, the process is -

      1. Identify client requirements
      2. Identify available resources and timeframe
      3. Decide on the best way of achieving your targets.

You can't start writing a program without clear defination about what the program is supposed to achieve.

Guys, this is not sarcasm but reality. I am all for any initiative but it has to serve the purpose defined.

Lastly, when we say, we have a poster. It dosen't mean much. We have several guys who can prepare a decent design and cost of A3 size poster is max. Rs.20/- so this is not a major asset that we have.

If you guys want, I can give a brief 10 minute lecture on how any activity is designed in the next G2G. This is not a threat to stop you from coming for G2G.
Vishwas again nice & useful info from your head....... though every week will be difficult....... but once a month will be fine for everyone.......
not going to a weekend trip & enjoying the city roads & its weekend traffic under blazing sun with lots of pollution & honking horns might be fun.......
though college is a better idea....... convincing a young generation is always easier than an aged person........ & if we have few results in our hands(convinced riders), it'll give us quick boost in our confidence also....... no one can continue do anything without any fruitful results........ so few results might turn out to be good for our confidence.......
thirdly, local language becomes a barrier in conveying message....... if we don't have enough people & standing in particular junction & convincing people in other language(say Hindi or English), will it convince people to wear helmets........
posters and tees won't be a problem....... we our full of resources....... we just need to stretch our legs to see how much we can run........ lets give it a try in near future........

my point here was tht we can spread awareness on a small scale... yes the major issue is awareness here.... bit by bit....

and I THINK that if we can sustain this for a long period we will get the recognition/ publicity we want.

but yesh the major moto is awareness...
and thats why i am seeking opinion of senior members like you... about the feasibility and all....
@ Suro - You have not answered my question. What exactly we want to achieve. Once we decide that, we can think about the best way to achieve the goal in available resources. Any action / inaction should result from a step by step thought process. Just doing some activity wastes manpower without giving proper results.

Without target in sight, who can predict feasibility. Call me cynical but I strongly dislike participating in any activity without understanding why.

See, here we have two conflicting objectives.

                1.Model colony is in Pune.
                2. I have not suggested every week rally. In fact, I have strongly objected to it. I have also said again and again that we have to look at available resources - Manpower, skill-sets, funding etc.

                  • @suro - the thing is what has to be done, do you just want it like everyone dressed up with whatever gears they have and take a 10-15 kms ride within pune city with XBHP pasted on our jackets or behind our bikes to advertise about our forum, or is it like you have to go to a particular location lets say give 15 minutes at some place and give information to all those people who stop at signals by distributing pamphlets to them ( max people will just throw the pamphlets out which will be waste of our money), regarding convincing within the pune city i think we can plan on a saturday and i am sure many people would join, like the roll house g2g and from there we can ride to a prescribed place, we can keep something like this every fortnight or monthly.

@ Vishwas - why dont you suggest some good idea to us as i think there is a confusion between what suro is conveying and what you are understanding.

@NV, sagar, TenHut and ritwik - Awaiting your suggestions on the awareness ride

@hyperion - didnt your lens faced any issue due to fog as i think if the rainy fog gets into your lens it keeps the cam out for an hour or so

@ pads - dont worry next time i will let you go ahead of my scooty, so you and your bike doesnt cry

Again you are discussing the activity. First finalise what everyone wishes to achieve through any kind of activity.

Unless we have a consensus about what we wish to achieve (ONE SINGLE OBJECTIVE). How can I suggest any good / bad idea? Unless people back the aim wholeheartedly, the activity is bound to fizzle out. Remember visit to orphanage? On confirmation of the activity, I handed over a quantity of notebooks to Rohit. He came to my house and collected them. Till now, I have not heard about this activity any time in any G2G. Finally, after nearly an year, I had to request Rohit to donate them to some other charity.

One idea would be volunteers running butt naked at 6 pm at popular spots in Pune city to create awareness.(Don't laugh..... PETA karega to acha aur hum karenge to nanga?

                      • Looking at the confusion, let me suggest some objectives -

                        1. Create awareness in general public for use of helmets (safety gear is out of question because anyone who is not a serious rider will not stump up money for riding jacket etc.)

                        2. Create awareness about xBhp.

                        3. Create awareness about superiority of Pune xBhp members over all other riding groups.

                        4. Create any kind of opportunity which gets our photographs in newspapers.

EDIT: 5. Do nothing and keep on enjoying riding.

                        etc.

This way we will know what the majority of member think should be done. once we get a common purpose, we can proceed with whatever activity we henceforth plan. (I am not willing to run butt naked but the earlier top-speed costume ride is still on )

                          Edit: Added Vishwas's Vote.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
