      • Fact of Life1 : If you crash, others will enjoy ! Its called being schadenfreudig and half the world is that.

Look at my CBR thread...there this one guy who said saving a front end washout is something that a kid learns when on a bicycle and one need not have street/track exp to learn to save a front washout.
Ppl from all over the world and paris will jump your crash and will tell u things like lavasa aint a track etc.

Fact of Life2 : U want schadenfreudig ppl around you. They make your crash entertaining and you get up back on ur bike sooner if u have them around you.

Fact of Life3 : there are those who say they dont crash because they know how to ride. These are from Mumbai.

@Guys.. I have just seen something horrible and wanted to share it with you guys. Some friends (4 girls, all dentistry interns.) who had just come over from Mumbai(To Nasik) by train post diwali and had taken a rick to their place. 300 meters before they reached their place, a truck, which was crossing them at the time from the opposite direction, had a tyre burst and pulled over sharply to the right running over the rick. @9:50 PM(tonight).

We reached the accident spot at 10:10 PM to find the truck (on the wrong side of the road) with the crushed rick next to it amidst a huge traffic jam on NH3. Then I saw 2 lungs and a heart lying on the road. The rear wheel of the Truck ran over the chest of one of the girls. The 'body' was lying right behind the rear wheel. The torso of the body was damaged beyond recognition. The other 3 were taken to 2 different hospitals. The luckiest of the 4 escaped with minor bruises and a headache but was in shock. The remaining 2 also have head injuries. The lesser injured one was vomiting blood and had 7 stitches on her forehead when I left the place at 1.30AM This one was still conscious though. The more injured one had stitches on the back of her head and multiple fractures in her knee, ribs, pelvic and arm. Unconscious.

We couldn't even tell the parents of the deceased truthfully. As of now, those people only know that there was an accident and their daughter is unconscious.

I don't know what I should learn from this incident. I don't know what could have been done. I only wish to urge everyone here to ride safe and be safe. It is so not a pretty sight for your parents when your friends have to pack up your stuff. Believe me I have packed up a friend's stuff not very long back. Everyone please wear your dog tags / military tags as we don't want any delays in you getting medical attention due to unknown details like emergency contact + blood group. The cellphones and wallets will get stolen so saving/writing a home / ICE contact there wont help.

P.S.: I doubt any amount of gear can help us from a similar incident.
P.P.S.: The rick fellow survived too.

I am highly tired and shaken. And have to ride to Pune in the morning(which I will probably postpone).

Real sad Incident man... nothing much we can do about such things. The monster on road are really life taking monsters sometimes.

I just wish that the parents get the courage to deal with this tragic incident

I had witnessed a similar incident few weeks back on Juhu Tara road at late night. I had mentioned about it on FB but not on xBhp. Couldn't stop myself from posting it after reading what happened in Nashik.

I was in a Santro with my friends and we were heading towards Andheri. There was an auto ahead of us and a small cross-road a few hundred meters ahead. It's a divided road and a BMC garbage truck was on the other side of the road. The driver wanted to take the right turn at the cross road and this over smart auto driver wanted to squeeze his auto in the gap and cross the truck before he takes the turn. In that haste, auto came so close to the right end of the truck that it missed the collision by just few inches and lost control. Auto toppled in front of our eyes and there were screams all around of little children and ladies. We all were shocked and didn't know what to do for a moment. We quickly pulled over and rushed towards the auto. Till then people around had already started helping those in the auto. Auto rickshaw had a gujju family in it(Husband+wife and their children). We were so glad that no body was hurt except a few minor bruises.

One more similar incident happened when I was coming back from Goa on my Honda Activa. I was taking rest on NH17 somewhere before Nagothane with my bike parked on the shoulder of the road and me sitting next to it. All of a sudden a truck came from the opposite direction and a few meters ahead it's tyre burst due to puncture and the truck driver lost the control of the truck. It missed our bike by a few inches and stopped some distance ahead of us. Otherwise it could have been an ugly collision.

In situations like these one can't do much to avoid accident/collision. I pray nobody has to face such an incident/pain in future. Wear gear and Ride sensibly!

@ antz - to bad to hear about the accident man.

@ vishwas - you should know its difficult to explain some people what you want to learn as they themselves dont know the head or tail of the topics .
