Not true, especially not true on our puny little bikes...
This is where torque comes to play and the acceleration will decrease and so would the top speed if the engine cannot cough up enough torque...

There is a member in Mumbai xbhp.. mumbai people might be knowing him.. he had a 1st lot P220 (same as mine) which did an all time high of 147(same as mine though grossly lesser weight) the guy is skinny and would be under 60kg(my estimates) xbhp ID: Seamus . This particular bike was stolen 6 months later and so he bought another one a further 4 months later.. same colour(black) but this time new lot... This new bike comfortably goes to 153 - 155 (no similarly calibrated + same %age speedo error) and could go more as per experience. Now why my bike shouldn't do a similar speed and what changes were made in the new lot is still unknown.

P.S.: People.. get BSNL people to give you a demo of BSNL 3G. They have a cap limit of 7.2 Mbps and the speeds and the experience is very awesome. The speeds have to be seen to b believed. The current unlimited plan is 700/month (actually 4200/- for 6 months which is actually cheaper than home unlimited broadband plan) and to top it.. its much much faster.

@Ritwik how much do you weigh? I dont think there is too much of a weight difference. PM me a reply..

if a smaller carb is better suited for the state of tune in the engine, it will increase the top speed!! i am saying this here cos my old carb gave me a better top speed than the existing one even after various itterations of jets and all other stuff on the new one..dont ask me how , cos its beyond my limits of understanding...

How far is Nashik by 220..?

So u bypassed my score...My bike is doing around 17k+ and expect another 1k help from Tenhut....for all these days I am not in Pune..

My tyres I feel are in decent shape...another 5k+ must be doable with ease..

Well...if my 17ps 150cc machine can hit 148 then i think a 220cc 21ps bike surely can crack out somehting close to 155+. It also depends on gearing TBH.

@Antz- I think u should be able to do more than what you could. Give me a test ride on the highway once.

So more weight can actually increase the top speed.

Not entirely sure I follow. If it increases your momentum, how will it boost the top speed. It will just shoot up the stopping distance.
Since momentum is mass into velocity. Going by your theorem, we could go piling up the mass to go on increasing the top speed.

Its other way round. The total momentum of any group of objects remains the same unless outside forces act on the objects (law of conservation of momentum). Hence, momentum being product of mass and velocity, both of them are inversely proportional for a given momentum . So more the mass, less is the velocity for given momentum and viz-a-viz. Thus top speed would reduce if the mass of the subject is increased for a given momentum.

Also please understand that even a 7.5% speedo error @ 150kmph will show increased or decreased speed of 11 kmph. So honestly, I think this is a speedo error.

This topic is better discussed on the ownership thread.. anyways.. the speedo error of all P220s is the same.. so.. if one is doing 147 and the other is doing 157 and both have speedo error of 7.3% we can comfortably say that 1 is faster than the other.. enough said.. so now we can stop this particular technical topic.

@Saad.. By 220, Nasik is 3 hours away.. (By car its 4 hours..) but as I left NH50 from Narayangaon, and did a total of 280 km instead of 210.. it took me 5 hours.
