Just thought I should share this with my like minded friends in the Pune Thread that I would be attempting a saddlesore run from Pune to Bangalore and back in 24hrs on my 1986 RX 100 this Friday.

Hope to make it back in one piece.

Dude, while replying to your PM I didn't know you are attempting saddle sore on an RX 100 I mean.. RX 100?????? I am not a pro in technical stuff of motorcycles but never heard RX 100 as a touring machine, hence a bit surprised. Hats off to you dude! NH4 will be busy this weekend with Saddle sore guys.. 3rd fell is heading towards north..

Anyway, Good luck to all you guys and come back with successful completion of the ride. Godspeed!

You can use the in-built Ovi Maps to track your position in realtime. I use the same mobile phone and it works very well. Btw, just download the complete maps for India.

I made some calculations for the timesheet..

if he gos as per this, he has to maintain an average of 80 kmph to complete the ride in 24 hrs including stops for resting, dinner, fuel filling etc etc.. have a look at the attchments

On a ninja you need 16 hours to wrap as many KMs...

For all the time you are riding.. you need a minimum avg speed of 85 to do it in 20 hours.. 2 hours for proof and photos and fillups. 1 hour for 2 meals (I prefer 2 proper meals). 1 hour spare.

@royd Are you sure about RX100? coz I have heard that if you maintain 100+ speeds on the Rx for more than a couple of seconds.. you will have to pull over and clean the spark plug (of unburnt carbon) before proceeding any further. The cruise speed will have to be somewhere around 105-110 (as per my understanding) to keep up with the average speeds, because you WILL slow down for variety of things you see on the road. Try a practice run first before going for the real deal.
