Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

          • Sorry antz. Unable to attend on saturday. Morning half will be spent in Ninja rally, briefing by Kawasaki team etc. so can't take out time again in the evening.

Will try to pacify wife and come but seems extremely difficult.

I will if you help me out with those... I know what a rotary wankel is. Nothing else. My friends call me mechanically challenged..

I learnt 2-stroke / 4-stroke, Air cooled / liquid cooled, single cylinder / multi cylinder, turbocharged / naturally aspirated, Petrol/Diesel engines in FY B.Tech. (Subject: Basic Thermodynamics) Thats all I know. This is a learning experience for all of us.

I would suggest you refer to following books for the better understanding of the subject:
1] Automobile Engineering by Dr. Kirpal Singh Vol 1 & 2.
2] Internal Combustion Engines by V. Ganesan.
                  3] Automotive Mechanics-Crouse & Anglin.
I have them all and you can use them if you think they can improve the presentation.Don't know whether I will able to attend Saturday's G2G or not,but sure I can help out in some way!

If I am not wrong, Ganesan is a book for the "IC engines" course for Fifth sem and Kripal Singh is for "Automobile Engineering" course for 7th sem of Mechanical Engineering course in my college. I feel noobs would not have the technical knowledge of understanding what is in those books. And anyways.. I did not make the presentation.. NV did.

He he!! You keep a track of all other branches as well?? IC Engines and Auto Engg. are subjects for 4th and 8th sem of Mech Engg. And this books are standard books. They just give basic knowledge about the technical terms and fundamental parameters of an engine.Believe me, the language is simple, lucid and very easy to understand. Anybody reading them can really get what the author is trying to preach. And I just offered them in case u needed more info. on straight three, Wankel, horizontally opposed or any other types!

Just please try to keep the presentation as pragmatic as possible. And not a research paper presentation of the internals of IC engines.

I think after doing the presentation people should be able to (to some extent)
                            1. Ride better
                            2. Better able to recognize when something is wrong with the bike and make a fair assessment about what is wrong with the bike
                            3. Ensure they understand when the mechanic throws some jargon at them and that they dont get taken for a ride (no pun intended).

Obviously such a small presentation will not achieve all these things but the direction should be such.

Just finished reading all the chapters of your Ladakh Trip. That's one of the most beautifully penned down logs I've read. You're flair of writing enhanced my imagination. Absolute Brilliant!

Curriculum and courses are different at COEP. I got that info confirmed from my B.Tech Mechanical roomie. Anyways, those topics are for another day.. another presentation. I feel there are other people here more qualified than me who can talk on those topics.

@Khsitij I used to draw full Imperial sheets for my friends from Mech branch(and they used to do my flow charts) till TY even though I only had half imperial sheets, that too just in FY. Hell! I hate IT! Why did i get stuck in the wrong branch !

@Saitan I have no problems. Suggest a venue. This could be merged with Spidey's Amby G2G. Thats why I am taking phone no.s of all attendees. So far I have just recieved 1 though.

                                Confirmed attendees:
