We are actually helping him free of charge! An electrical automotive consultant will charge him (wait for it) 10 lakhs for telling that he has gone bonkers over attempting 1700+ kms on single charge.

believe it or not, nerds at nasa are not paid millions for nothing.. and they have to rely on solar pannels for such a thing.

also, utsav either has to carry a zillion batteries for doing those kms or he needs an quick charge option and both is gonna be a million dollar expense.

he can go in for a hybrid but for buying a fuel cell, he will have to sacrifice 10 years of his salary and still require someone to generate hydrogen for running this cell...

all great inventions are bogged down with one problem or the other. but this one has a complete history and geography book attached!!

all in all, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!

Actually I had suggested that he should use water as fuel. Water is H2O. So he would get Hydrogen and Oxygen. He can burn hydrogen with help of oxygen.

However, such a simple idea may not appeal to him.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

          • New CBR has arrived

My new CBR 250R arrived on 14 May. I bought it from Rohan Honda, Pimpri. The people there are nice - Rohan himself, Prashant Kale etc. One major hiccup (guys who have an input on this please do give it) was that the mirrors were missing. On my asking, I was told that the dealer had received all LEFT HAND SIDE mirrors from Honda Gurgaon. I am not aware of Honda's professionalism in this area as this is my first Honda purchase but it did seem an odd answer

I have done about 100 kms on the new wheels till today and will write a detailed report later. Immediate, instantaneous impressions:

            1. Only side stand available, centre stand is not an option/accessory. The side stand itself appears to be rather flimsy.

            2. Extremely light clutch.

            3. The key operated steering lock operates ONLY when the handle is turned to the left and not to the right, perhaps a function of Serial 1 above.

            4. No auto indicator cancelling, standard press to cancel.

            5. No backlit switches

            6. All switches seem to be made of light weight (read low quality) plastic, especially the horn button. Life over long term usage is suspect.

            7. Pliant suspension.

            8. Excellent headlight - spread, range and visibility is spot on.

            9. Jerky, snatchy EFI setup. Should smooth out over time.

            Detailed report later...

              Congrats Icemang!

I am least surprised by Honda's professionalism. They have once again lived upto my expectations of their unprofessionalism

                  Congrats on your new tourer

                  Have fun with it.

Regarding mirrors i think you can ask them to talk with other dealers so you fit from other showroom.

The CBR, ninja, R15 all come with one single side stand, but in R15 you can put a main stand which costs approximately 900/- Rs, i have no idea about the ninja.

First of all, congrats on your new bike. Hope that you would be the first CBR250 owner to take it to Leh this year .

                      1. In most full faired bikes, centre stand is not offered (even as an accessory) since it reduces ground clearance of the bike (specially while cornering). As most full faired bikes are mainly oriented towards sports riding, good ground clearance for cornering is considered as a basic requirement.

                      2. Chances of the dealer getting all left side mirrors are quite high. This is the first consignment and some goof ups are bound to happen. Just get a written confirmation from him that you would get those mirrors later on. As an added safety precaution, you can collect 2 left side mirrors and then can replace one for right side mirror whenever it becomes available.

                      3. Honda engines are normally bulletproof so EFI should smooth out in few km. If not, escalate this issue with senior managers. Being the first lot, your issues would be resolved shortly.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

The reason is weight and that they look ugly. Nakeds don't have main stands either. Main stands are just plain defunct. Ground clearance is one of the secondary reasons.
