Well, I prefer Varun's place cause you folks are "known" to come on time! and I don't wanna get suntanned for free! Hopefully, some trees outside Varun's house will save me from the suntan!

Can i get some information on Coorg and places around to visit.
I have charted out the following
                  Dubare Elephant Camp
                  Namdroling Monestry

It wouldnt be a bike trip, i would be traveling by rail and then hire a car, i would be traveling with Shruti.

                    Hi Anup
Good to know that you are coming down to mangalore!.Coorg is around 140~150km's away from M'lore. It's situated just above the western ghats.
The climate is cool this time around and it can be pleasant when you come down during march.
The first major town in coorg you encounter as you leave mangalore is Madikeri.Places to see in Madikeri are Raja-seat(a small park overluking the western ghats) and a few Km's off Madikeri you have Bhagamandala/talakauvery(convergence of river kaveri and another river which i'am not exactly sure off...!) and Abby falls.
You can also visit Nagarhole national park if you like wildlife and Harangi dam which is around 35km's from Madikeri.
I haven't been to the elephant camp so i don't know much about it,But the Namdroling monastry is in Bylakuppe a little far from Madikeri towards Mysore, this monastry is worth seeing.
Please let me know if i can be of any help.

@Anup: Madikeri is about 150Kms from Mangalore. You can take a cab and go there. Once your there go to Kushalnagar ~30 kms from Madikeri. Varun (varuvij) has said about all the important places in his post!

                        Tranquil lake coorg
The place is just beside the Nagarhole National Forest. I have been there and its a very nice place. And as to visiting Monastery and the elephant camp, its all nearby and they provide you transportation to wherever u need to visit. They even have night safari. Safari takes you either to the nagarhole forest or the forest towards Wayanad. Hope this Information helps.

                          Hi Varuvij,
Great man this info is good....the once highlighted in bold.....
i am a wildlife fanatic i would love to live in a jungle if i had an option, the reason i am coming to coorg is for the pleasent weather and the National park
I would let you know about the elephant camp i heard that its a neat deal you get to go for a safari and all
Actually Shruti is found of the Stupas as they call it up North or i would call it the Buddha Temple its probably very high on her list

I saw that website..its looks awesome...but they have not mentioned the tariff though...if you are aware it would be nice if you can post..else i will call them soon and find out....
my main concern is this..transportation...never had a chance to actually make arrangements for transportation etc...always had my own car or bike for any damn thing..

Thanks to all for this help...i might bother again if i cant find relevant details

It is usually very pleasant! I ride quite often on this route but last Sunday Madikeri was really warm!

I hope you have a great trip ahead!

+1 Varun! The very thought of waiting at Petrol Pump disgusts me! Besides, I don't get what's the problem outside your house? Cool, quite, walkable distance from "HP" pump!

Buddhist Monastery is indeed worth visiting. But Madekeri to Kulshalnagar roads are dangerously horrible (30kms)
