Independance Day ride
Independance Day ride triplog (part 1)
And so it was already 3:30 am, did with my last post on xbhp that time and hrm. While rest of the buggers in bangalore could laze away till 4:30 or 5 am, I put on the riding gear which nearly made me walk like some android. Coming down the stairs as quietly as possible otherwise the houseowner in his loongi would freak out seeing a fellow in rather "robotic" gear (and all black too !) and call the police. Then after taking the bike a little away from the apartment and starting the bike, let it idle for a little while as I fastened the flag to the bike's handle via Tie-By-Wire technology ( some earlier examples in other rides also exist) . After practising stretching and doing a y split on my legs I was ready to climb my bike.Hoooray ! I was on, and started the ride. Switched on the HID and I was off.
The highway was empty except of some occasional trucks, I expected more traffic but anyways.. kept riding looking for anything that'd sell a sutta + tea but to no avail. Grumbling to self about not buying suttas the previous night itself, I rode on. The roads were dry and no signs of rain, although I was already expecting rain because I had read about rain in bangalore.
When I reached the nelmangala toll gate, I had to slow down and pass by the "bike lane" but as soon as I crossed it I saw a police partol bolero there, nothing odd about it but suddenly a cop springs out of it and im like "whaaaa ?" a moment of tension but it was fine, I rode on and I wasn't followed or anything like that.. Probably a bike with a HID attracts attention at 4am.
The ride was very fine till Jalahalli cross, after that it got.. damp and then seeing some signs of water and I rode through slight drizzle. Still fine, except that the fine droplets of water were making the visor useless. I rode on till whatever I knew pakka and then as usual I was trying to figure out where is Silk board at 4:30 am. Asked some autowallahs who were helpful enough, and then I rode through some of the flooded streets in bangalore and was thinking "And .. I just polished my bike today -_- ". Ill never polish my bike during this rainy seaon before a G2G , no no no.
Rode on till I reached silk board but was unable to locate where exactly the guys were. I probably crossed the junction where the flyover is 3-4 times. Like I had already told Jasir, "Ill reach somehow, I always do", I did reach, not too late, without problems or punctures
Already I was grinning at the turnout. It had been a while since bangalore xbhp had such a turnout which was even more than what I had seen in yercaud last year. Felt nice. Got off and just met up with the guys after a while, and got to see a lot of new faces as well
. Was looking for Pranay in particular as it'd been a while and also that I had not seen his latest acquisition. Then a rumble is heard. No it werent the clouds, the "Arrrr 1!" arriveth and thy Akhil saaaar's presence was made felt. All good , very good.
On Sundar's insistence (Maverick46) had to take off my awesome "fly by wire" fastened flag from the left mirror and had to fasten it to the right mirror with sellotape. After that the groups were formed and I lined up with the first group. And off we went.. for a ride which was going to be a memorable one :P
triplog part 2 will be up tomorrow. :PLast edited by Xenologik; 09-05-2009, 03:26 AM.A man's testosterone level is directly proportional to bhp that he's using on his motorcycle.

Alright guys here it is:
Litterally i cant sleep...my first ride is gonna be coming up in a few hours and its like oh 1 am and im still on xbhp talking to Tibby to see when and where we are supposed to meet. I made sure to set the alarm for like 4 am. I get up, get ready, get dressed..lace up the shoes, grab the jacket, get the gloves on (mind u im using the gloves i wear to teh gym), grab the keys and backpack (camera, water, some snacks, etc) and im off. I had made sure to fill up the tank the previous night. The designated meeting point was the bus stop just past Cauvery theater on Bellary Road/Sankey Road. I get there and i find Tibby and i think Maverik already there...Golddew would join us in a while. Next up to arrive and the last member of our entourage would be Sunil Sir, our fearless leader with the flags in tow. His Comet is really pretty sweet..wit the FZ front and the HIDs to boot.
So begins our journey to the bowels of Bangalore (Silk Board) and to the main meeting point of this wonderful trip....
The ride over there was a pretty slushy one, as it had rained the previous nite and the roads were a complete mess. I had regretted not changing out my POS TVS rear tire..but there was nothing i could do about that now and i just had to hope for the best. Indeed at one point we were just gliding alone the water...my headlight was also getting pretty weak, which started to worry me
. Alas, problems which i had no time to deal with as i had just gotten back from home the previous week. So finally, after much too-ing and fro-ing we arrived at the meeting spot, with already a bunch of guys there..including John!
. Finally it was good to see the man in person again....warm memories from the Dhaba meet last time! More and more guys started arriving and the cacophony of exhausts grew louder and louder. Eventually the ONE arrived and everyone stood transfixed by the sheer size and sound of it...it was like the heavens had descended to earth and God made His presence felt amongst us mere Mortals. It was here that i met Scorcher and KimiKid, two guys who would become really good friends
. I had already struck up a rapport with Tibby. At last everyone arrived...the daylight was getting ready to break and hopefully reveal the glorious Sun..unfortunetly it was not to be as dark clouds and gloom skies loomed overhead.
Flags were affixed, groups were made, formations were discussed, engines were started and bikes were lined up..finally we were all geared up to go and hit the open road. The Silk Board flyover loomed just over us...menacing against a backdrop of dull grey...while Hosur Road was begging us to leave it....Fire Burnin! What would happen to us??....would we make this the largest ride anyone has seen 'round these parts??.....
stay tuned to find out!Last edited by RedApple; 10-04-2009, 01:48 AM.
