  • Delhi Newbies Induction Ride for xBhp new riders (Nov 2009)

    Hello all Delhi xBhpians,

It is often seen that there are quite a few new members out here who have never had an opportunity to ride out to the hills (or any place) because of some or the other reason. So, here, we give you the opportunity to get yourself ready for your first ride, preferably to the hills. The tentative details of this overnight ride G2G is mentioned below. As and when more information is available, it would be appended in this thread.

    Date: 29-30 November, 2009 (Sunday-Monday)
    Distance: 300kms. approximately
Destination: It is still being decided, a few places are being considered as you read.

    Note:
Please note that this ride is ONLY and ONLY for those who have either never been to the hills/ out on long rides, or who have been there perhaps ONCE only. Basically, it would be more like an induction ride whereby the maximum number of riders that we are looking at is 6-8 (definitely not more than that).

Moreover, if you have been with xBhp for long enough, you would, I am sure be familiar with HX (Himachal eXplorers) whereby the riders were specifically chosen for all the HX rides. Keeping the same pattern, even for this ride, the riders would be chosen according to a few criteria which we would be keeping an eye on during the regular weekend G2Gs. There are a few riders who I have in mind already for the ride.

There is no real criteria for applying for this ride because it is already mentioned experienced riders will NOT be considered; this is the real catch! This overnight ride will only cater to the newest of the lot; to induct the newbies into touring and to show and guide them about every minute detail about how these long rides are supposed to be.

    Thanks,
    -Aryan

    Moderator Edit:

    1. Guys who are planning to apply for the ride should have their vehicles in very good shape, especially chain set, tyres, clutch etc.
    2. There will be at least two senior riders who will be accompanying the newer riders.
    3. Aryan mentionned the case of HX rides; however I would like to add that this would be less gruelling.
    4. We would like to introduce quite a few new things regarding riding in groups, doing long rides, hill tracks negotiation, skill building exercises and quite a few new things.
    5. Interested candidates can start coming to meet us during this 6 week familiarisation period with us at meets and other smaller events to get to know each other which will allow us to make our choice easier!
    6. Ride distance: 300kms - 350 kms one way!
    7. This exercise is limited to xBhp Delhi Chapter Only.
    8. Please PM Aryan and/or Ken for any further queries or use this thread for the same.

Important Note Full Riding Gear is Important for all Entrants!

Edit Dates have been preponed due to unforeseen developments. Please check above for the modifications of the same.

Final List of Riders for the Delhi Newbie Induction Ride, 2009.

Following is the final list of riders for the 'Delhi Newbie Induction Ride'. Please note that this is the FINAL list, and no kind of changes would be taking place henceforth. Also, note please do not PM the organizers regarding your selection about the ride.

    Date: 29th - 30th November, 2009 (Sunday - Monday)

The list of final riders for the 'Induction Ride' stands as follows:
    1. PetrO
    2. Zayn
    3. thechamp
    4. Sava (tentative)
    5. Psycho Mc.Crazy
    6. Sikh Biker
    7. Ken cool
    8. Aryan

The list is being posted atleast 2 weeks before the actual ride is to take place. So, those whose names are there on the list should get everything ready in these 2 odd weeks - right from servicing their bikes, and sorting out any niggles that the machines might have to sorting out personal commitments and schedules.

Please know that all the riders whose name appears above will also need to sign a 'consent form'. This is mandatory for all riders and the organizers.

P.S: Each rider needs to wear proper riding gears. The following are absolutely mandatory:
    1. Good helmet.
    2. Riding gloves.
    3. Riding jacket (or some sort of body protection).
    4. Knee guard/ elbow guards.
    5. Proper boots (not necessarily riding boots).

Also, please make sure the vehicle documents and your driving licence is valid. Any failure to produce the valid documents on the day of the ride would mean that the particular rider would not be able to participate in the 'Induction Ride'.

The other details, with regard to the meeting time/ place/ destination, etc. will only be given at a suitable time.

    Thanks,
    -Aryan

I'd rather be riding my motorcycle thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my motorcycle.
Ride often, ride well, have fun.

I guess I would be a suitable candidate to apply, been with xbhp for sometime but never had the chance for a long group ride to the hills.

I guess I should apply for that leave (5th is a working day for me regularly) which I have, though I am sure that my boss will not allow it if I told him the real reason (just had a long speech from him about how bikes are unsafe and things like that....)\

lemee know if I fit the criteria for being a member on this one.

Aryan Da n Ken Da good initiative it is.....actually this is something which should happen u know at intervals of 3 months or 6 months in a year.... as you know there are many new riders who actually join xBhp but they never come to know actually what xBhp is..... and if it happens at a specified intervals of the year, they would be riding with moderators or senior n experienced riders in the way they can enjoy and learn a lot about riding..... so very good.... I would support and help in whatever possible way I can brothers goood going......

I think we can get the green revolution ON the hills...but yeah we know the rider is the king of the hills....

Surprising to know that so many ppl haven't been to the hills. This is a good initiative for first timers , one shouldn't miss it.

Not a single newcomer/new rider/new member has applied so far.

Aryan and I had long discussions before and after the conception of the thread regarding quite a few aspects of what this ride can constitute for new comers.

People like Dcs, Born2Lead need not even apply. They are seasoned campaigners in this field, tough riders and pioneers in a lot of ways and aspects of life and motorcycling.

We are still waiting for genuine entries. Where have people like Petro and Zayn gone? Looks like they got terrified of their last "organised" ride!
