      • It is time to get this thread back into action. There have been a few developments in the past two days.

Yesterday, the 7th of November we had an introduction ride on the Highway. After discussing with Aryan, we gave a rendezvous point where all of us were on time save for Pinky! Aryan was late since he did not have his bike keys. We introduced ourselves. Got acquainted to the prospective riders.

We let the candidates some time to discuss about their "strategy". I had given them the route. And Aryan and I, (joined by Addy with his new 220) kept at the back noting how the new riders rode. We took notes on the way. Discussed them when we reached our halfway point. And we took notes on the way back and there was a marked improvement.

        Notes:
        1. Some of the riders did not keep their fingers on the brakes while riding.

        2. Riders were riding too close to each other.

        3. Riders were riding too slow on 8-Lane highways, we got overtaken by trucks!

        4. "Pinky" was late!

On the way back, most of that got corrected.

But motorcycling is not all about just good roads and tarmac. And I wanted to check the enthusiasm of the aspiring participants. I organised an outing to Dhauj. Stalwarts like Nitinjit Bawa and Chintoo Sir were invited. And we made our way to Dhauj. I had a GREAT morning. Almost everybody had some kind of a fall or the other.

I appreciated the way theChamp was focussed and wanted to learn. I also liked the way how Sava improved over half an hour. His riding style and technique had changed as I observed him from behind from the time when we went to Dhauj and when we came back. Keep up the good work. It is unfortunate that you are not a candidate anymore.

This is also to let people know that what we did today or yesterday is not representative of what we are going to do in the final ride. This was just to see the involvement and enthusiasm of the participants, the organisational skills amongst them and if Aryan and I are actually capable of bringing this together.

Some more notes at the end of the short weekend rides:

        1. Big Negative point: I was greatly impressed at the way Zayn rode. However, all of us were greatly disappointed at the way he completely disappeared without informing any of the other riders on the way back. This has to be taken into consideration. When we ride in a group, this is the bare minimum discipline that has to be observed.

        2. Pinky was Late yet again!

        3. I appreciated Champ's initiative about photography and his focus on learning new skills.

        4. Petro needs some calming. His adrenaline is pumping.

That will be all for now. Will wait for the replies from the others. The final riders list will be up shortly, in a few days.

IMP There has been a change in the dates.

        Thread Re-opened!

        • @Ken da: I really noted 'theChamp' too. Amongst all the participants, only HE was the one who was following the "rules" (on the road). As for Zayn, I didn't know that he left without informing others; seems he just vanished! Also, I did not AT ALL appreciate the fact that PetrO was performing stunts ( a wheelie, I suppose?) while coming to the meet point yesterday. That has left a very sore image of him on me, that's for sure. I do not want the riders to perform stunts on public roads. Period. I do not appreciate it AT ALL.

And punctuality is something that needs to be followed strictly because even if one rider is late, the whole group gets delayed for no fault of theirs. And yes, I am pretty sure these weekend ride(s) have actually given us our final list of riders. I am sure, like me, many people are actually looking forward to the success of this 'induction ride'.

            • Great event today. I learnt A LOT about my own machine, and also about biking in general. Also, it was the longest distance I covered on my bike in a single ride (~140 km ). My wrist currently hurts from the offroading, and I love it

              However,

Actually I did not mean that I had a "Great" morning because people fell. I had Great morning because I loved riding on those tracks after such a long time. Great morning because I saw so many people riding on such "roads" with such enthusiasm. Great morning because I met new people who were nice human beings eager to motorcycle and try out lots of new stuff. Great morning overall!

                            • Wow...
Awesome update. Hope i was born a few months earlier and had got a license , please do keep these induction rides going every 3-6 months or so, would really love to join in.

Nice update Ken da. Love the second pic in which the "One" and its rider is keeping an eye on the other riders. Total drool maal. Hope to get a glimpse of the R1 in a G2G sometime.

I also learnt a point for my 220- to keep fingers near brake lever whenever riding. Somehow my imaginative mind thought it will be bad as that might keep the front disc engaged just a wee bit.
Hope the real ride is a happy and safe one.

All the best guys -- not for the trip- for the selection. Both Mods had a keen eye on every rider
