Dude 31 evening either g2g or ride is a blunder with in the city. The whole city would be out on roads and heavy traffic jams is nothing but order of the day. And every small little place, forget about the usual ones will be packed to peak with crowd too. anyway, good luck if something does materializes.

And i even missed the most awaited Ducati GTG.I was really when i realized that i could not attend the gtg just because i did not log on xbhp.
I came to know this when sandeep posted some of the pics on his FB acc.

        • All i couldn't help than re post.as i forgot how to post pics and their titles in the same post.
All the above mess is about fabricating an All Terrain Vehicle(ATV) for a competition called BAJA organised by Society of Automotive Engineers(SAE) and its Indian counterpart SAE INDIA.Welcome to Baja SAEINDIA 2010 :: Baja SAEINDIA 2011

The competition is aimed at talented young engineers who are encouraged to build an ATV on their own,and after 4 phases of elimination the winners are awarded 5 lakh INR while the runner-ups are followed with 3 and 2 lakh INR.
And there are 10 odd 1 lakh other prizes to be won.
          Sponsors:1)Cummins Turbo Technologies.
          2)Mahindra
Our team was shortlisted in the final 80, filtered through some 500 odd design reports, including the reports from IITs and NITs.We were one of the 4 teams from AP which participate in the finals in Jan.

We worked on this project for 8 months and spent almost 3 lakhs doing so.
And the result is what you see above. Our ATV features these:
          1)An all wheel independent suspension
          2)Steer by wire.
3)Suffice torque to evade any terrain.

The initial rounds of the events include the testing of the ATV by experts at SAE.The final round of this event is a race between the 80 shortlisted teams(or ATVs).After the final round, the team members of the 80 teams were called to allowed to attend placements of automobile giants.

And finally we are here.Set ready for the race.

          The pics:
1,2,3: Different stages in the fabrication of the ATV.
4:Some of the ingredients.Love those meaty rubbers.
          5:All wheel independent suspension.
6:Wheel rim and housing in a pristine fashion.
7,9:The completed roll cage and basic mechanical parts.
8:Checking whether the mechanical beast is living upto our expectations through the ANSI C S/w.
10,11:True dedication. 3 am and it's freezing cold outside and we were working in an ALMOST OPEN TO SKY workshop You get the picture!
12:Some Big bad motha-trucker in our rented workshop.! That thing has a 6+5 gear system or something. Crazy.
13:Yes it takes a crane to carry that engine.

              • Went for first road trip from Hyderabad. Two days on highway without a bike was a different feeling altogether. Bumpy single lane NH9 till Vijawada was nightmarish but serene, quiet beach of Surya Lanka made my day.

                      • @ Hanit, i'm not a technical guy but after looking at the CHASSIS pics of ur buggy i felt that it should be a bit robust (felt the pipes are bit skinny ) to take on the beating of the off-road racing. anyways, superb project and keep on posting the progress.
